When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 440: Chapter 157: The Green Tea Female Supporting Character in a Period Novel (44)

He never fought or vied for attention, because he knew that at home, no matter how much of a fuss he made, nobody would care. He wasn’t the eldest son, nor was he the youngest, and he wasn’t a sister who could be married off for a good price.

Working at the general hospital, he only had to think about his salary and benefits—which were equivalent to what two and a half people back home earned—and he would be overjoyed, finally able to hold his head high!

One of the candidates who found out he had failed the exam remarked sourly, ”That’s not necessarily true. Didn’t they say acceptance is a two-step process? There’s the written test and the interview, right?”

”Even if you pass the written test, there’s still the interview...”

Someone immediately sneered, ”The interview is just a formality. The outcome will be pretty much the same as the written test. Besides, it’s not like anyone here is an idiot. If you’re smart enough to ace the written exam, you won’t bomb the interview!”

’There are three hundred spots, after all. As long as we perform normally, our interview scores won’t be that different.’

More and more of the educated youth found their scores. Some were overjoyed, while others were heartbroken.

Just then, a staff member came out to post the interview notice.

”All candidates whose written exam scores are within the top three hundred, please be on time for the interview tomorrow at 8:00 AM in the east-side conference room on the first floor of the guest house. All other candidates may proceed to the finance office to be reimbursed for your travel expenses...”

”What? What does that mean? Didn’t Director Chi say they were hiring a total of three hundred people? If someone in the top three hundred bombs the interview, aren’t they going to consider those ranked below three hundred as alternates?”

Everyone was stunned, especially the educated youth ranked just outside the top three hundred. The glimmer of hope they had been clinging to was extinguished once more.

However, the candidates in the top three hundred were jumping for joy.

”So, does this mean everyone in the top three hundred will get hired, as long as they don’t have some major character flaw? And our final scores just determine whether we become official employees or temporary workers?”

”Exactly. That gives them plenty of leeway for selection. If they’re short on temporary staff, a big place like the general hospital can easily find a few people to make up the numbers. They can’t be expected to bend over backward for us educated youth on every little thing...”

With the dust finally settling, their restless hearts were at last put to ease.

Those who passed began to joyfully plan their futures. Meanwhile, those who had failed forced themselves to smile and congratulate their friends before silently returning to their rooms to pack, ready to catch the earliest ride out of town.

Still, seeing so many people pass made them reflect that their own knowledge wasn’t solid enough, that they couldn’t apply some concepts flexibly, and that their grasp of certain common-sense topics was weak...

After identifying a whole list of their shortcomings, they felt that if they just faced and corrected them, they could surely be among the top candidates next year. After all, the most competitive people had already been filtered out.

They had seen how wildly popular Shengshi Street was on the east side of the general hospital. Since the other three sides of the hospital were also being converted into shops with massive hiring campaigns, it was likely that other companies and factories would follow their lead.

There would be plenty of opportunities for them in the future. As long as they buried their heads in their books, a day would come when their exam scores would let them rise above the rest!

Perhaps because of everything they had seen and heard over the past two days, the spirits of those who failed were only low for a moment before they were filled with drive once again.

They hadn’t gotten their hopes up too much in the first place, so this was an expected outcome.

And yet, they boarded the vehicles heading home with renewed hope and a concrete goal in mind.

The interviews proceeded quickly. The questions had been prepared in advance; each candidate drew one at random, gave their answer, and then left. The entire process was finished in a single day.

By that evening, the final hiring list had already replaced the previous day’s exam results!

「The next day.」

The new employees began the onboarding process. They moved from the guest house to the employee dormitories on the other side and started a two-week training program taught personally by Chi Yun’er.

Chi Yun’er had developed a comprehensive plan that covered everything from basic customer service etiquette, handling unexpected situations, and professional ethics to career planning, sales strategies, and techniques.

This would help everyone quickly grow from a Little White into a professional service provider.

If they could master this knowledge, and even build upon it with their own insights, then in two or three years they might become pioneers in the field. They could truly become people their families would look up to.

What she taught was novel and interesting to the new employees, shattering their conventional ideas about what it meant to be a service worker. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

’No wonder Shengshi Street on the east side of the hospital is so popular! There are so many trade secrets involved!’

They studied with a ravenous hunger, eager to apply everything they were learning to their future jobs. They wanted to be like the employees on Shengshi Street, whose monthly bonuses alone were equivalent to a full salary.
