When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 415: Chapter 150: The Green Tea Female Supporting Character in the Period Novel (37)

When Chi Yun’er first submitted the application to open the commissary, the Director and the others had treated it as a last-ditch effort. They had allocated one thousand yuan from the repair fund as startup capital.

To be precise, it was more like a loan. After all, regardless of whether the commissary turned a profit, that money had to be paid back.

The hospital only provided the space for the commissary and stayed out of everything else, offering cooperation at most.

From the very beginning, they never expected it to be profitable. In their eyes, just creating three or five jobs would have been a tremendous achievement.

However, Chi Yun’er and her team delivered one surprise after another!

The group of young people had barely touched that one thousand yuan. They sourced a large amount of goods themselves, and sales were explosive.

Setting profits aside for a moment, four educated youths had already returned to the city to work. There were initially two mobile service stations, but because they were so effective, more than ten new ones were added in the second week, setting up in nearby residential areas.

This meant that jobs for about twenty family members had been created.

The demand for food at the commissary was high, and the cafeteria chefs couldn’t keep up. They each called on their own family members to help, adding another seven or eight temporary positions...

And that wasn’t even the most important part. For the entire month of July, the commissary’s net profit, even after deducting everyone’s wages and bonuses, still exceeded eight thousand yuan...

’What an incredible sum!’

In the report Chi Yun’er submitted this time, aside from the matter of opening a restaurant, there was also a proposal on how to make the commissary’s profits have the greatest possible impact.

The Director read this proposal first.

It listed some of Kyoto General Hospital’s currently hidden shortcomings, the advantages of other hospitals, and a brief analysis of the future landscape.

In short, while Kyoto General Hospital looked like the industry leader right now, that very reputation meant it faced even greater pressure and competition.

If they didn’t keep up with the times, they would sooner or later be eliminated, sinking to the middle or even the bottom of the industry!

How could the Director not know this?

Medicine wasn’t a profession where you could just work in isolation. Doctors needed constant training, observational studies, and mutually beneficial exchanges.

People’s living standards were improving, and supporting facilities were increasing by the day.

They were discovering that the newer institutions were starting from a higher point, with new and comprehensive equipment and better staffing. In all these aspects, they were subtly threatening to surpass old, established units like theirs!

It was a real-life example of the newcomers surpassing the old-timers.

They were anxious. They saw their staff still taking a subtle pride in being employees of the General Hospital, completely unaware of the crisis Kyoto General Hospital would face in a few years, or a decade...

As members of the leadership, the Director and his colleagues saw more and thought further ahead.

They had only pondered these things in their hearts and had never spoken them aloud. Yet, Chi Yun’er had sharply pointed out all of these frightening trends.

It forced the Director, who had wanted to continue deceiving himself, to bite the bullet and face reality, causing him to take this proposal more and more seriously!

If Kyoto General Hospital wanted to maintain its advantages and its leading position, it had to strive in five dimensions: equipment, talent, systems, benefits, and services.

Talent was the core. If a hospital lacked good doctors, no matter how good everything else was, it was just a gorgeous, empty shell.

Chi Yun’er proposed that with the current situation having eased considerably, it was the perfect opportunity for Kyoto General Hospital to make its move.

Many people had already returned to the cities and their original posts.

But many more were still waiting to be accepted into suitable positions.

Among them were many comrades with superb medical skills and excellent ethics. If the hospital offered them jobs, it would be a win-win situation...

Leming had arrived, but many people were still struggling in the dark. If Kyoto General Hospital acted now, it would surely earn their gratitude.

With a large influx of technical experts, how could the students they mentored possibly be subpar?

The Director’s eyes lit up as he read, and countless ideas began to form in his mind.

In terms of technology and prescriptions, Kyoto General Hospital was already just picking up scraps from others. The research institute was merely for show and hadn’t produced any results in years—that was the real money pit, burning through talent and equipment!

The Director grew excited. He picked up his red pen and wrote on the first proposal: Approved!

The second point combined benefits and systems, thoroughly implementing the organization’s principle of ”the more you work, the more you earn,” and ensuring that effort and reward were directly proportional.

The commissary was bringing in eight or nine thousand a month. If you spread that out among everyone, that was still an extra two or three yuan per person.

Besides, the commissary was just the beginning. In the future, other profitable projects would be launched. Money would no longer be the key issue holding back the hospital’s transformation.
