When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 437: Chapter 156: The Green Tea Female Side Character in a Period Novel (43)

So...

They were ecstatic, some even jumping up on the spot.

This meant that as long as they performed normally, they were guaranteed a spot on the list. They would be assigned to a work unit and successfully join the ranks of those returning to the city.

From then on, they would bid farewell to the countryside, become city-dwellers once more, and be able to support themselves and their families.

Moreover, the deans’ earlier words finally sank in.

Kyoto General Hospital’s employees enjoyed good salaries and benefits. They would be able to hold their heads high and feel proud in front of their friends and family. All the grievances and frustrations they had suffered after being sent to the countryside would vanish!

Everyone was uncontrollably excited, reminding themselves that they had to do well on the exam.

Of course, there were also some educated youths who hadn’t diligently buried their noses in books, and they were now tugging at their hair in frustration.

’How could we have been so stupid?’

’Knowledge, once learned, is yours forever. No one can snatch it away.’

’Opportunity favors the prepared. If only we had spent an extra hour or so reading each day, we would definitely have one foot in the door of the General Hospital by now.’

’Such a golden opportunity was right in front of us, and we have to just watch it slip away... ’

’This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance!’

Seeing that there was still plenty of time, Chi Yun’er seriously emphasized the exam rules and other points of attention.

Everyone listened attentively, trying not to lose points on unnecessary mistakes.

After the meeting, staff members immediately began leading everyone to their respective classrooms.

Chi Yun’er had actually anticipated this situation.

The government had not yet implemented family planning, so every household had many children. It was no surprise that the number of educated youths sent to the countryside was so large.

With an opportunity right in front of them, everyone wanted to seize it no matter what.

That was why she had chosen the largest school in the vicinity.

Basically, all children in the city attended elementary school, so there were far more classrooms, desks, and chairs in elementary schools than in middle or high schools.

Moreover, the elementary school had five grades, with eight or nine classes per grade, making it especially suitable for this group of educated youths to take their exam.

The recruitment exam consisted of three subjects, which would be tested in the morning and the afternoon.

The morning was dedicated to registration, a speech from the leadership, and classroom assignments, so there was only time for one test.

It was called one test, but it was actually a combination of Language Arts and General Humanities. The exam duration was three hours, from nine o’clock to twelve o’clock!

Each examination room had two proctors: one was a leader from the hospital, big or small, and the other was a teacher from the school who was kindly helping out.

The proctors drew lots to randomly decide which room they would be in charge of, then stood watch over the examinees like a pair of door gods, one at the front and one at the back.

There were at most thirty students in a room, each with their own desk. The slightest suspicious movement could be seen by the proctors.

If anyone was caught cheating, they would be barred from all future recruitment exams organized by the General Hospital.

There was no need for anyone to risk it all for a recruitment exam with such a high success rate. There would be plenty of opportunities in the future; this wasn’t the only one.

Everyone wished they didn’t even have to lift their necks. They solemnly took their test papers and, following Chi Yun’er’s instructions, first checked the number of pages and the print quality before filling in their personal information and beginning to answer the questions.

The three hours passed quickly as everyone wrote furiously.

They truly treated this exam as the life-saving straw that would turn their lives around. They didn’t dare to be the least bit careless, even diligently following Chi Yun’er’s advice to manage their speed and pacing.

By the time the papers were being collected, the vast majority of examinees had already finished answering all the questions.

After the proctors checked the test papers and gave a nod of approval, the crowd filed out of the examination rooms in an orderly fashion and headed straight for the cafeteria.
