When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 412: Chapter 149: The Green Tea Female Supporting Character in a Period Drama (36)

Fang Yuying was a complete mess. Her white coat was covered in dirt and bloodstains from the ground, wrinkled and crumpled, and her hair was a rat’s nest.

However, Mother Fang had a policy of not hitting the face. She aimed for places that would cause humiliation, so that after being beaten, the victim would be too embarrassed to make a scene.

She had subconsciously done the same when hitting her daughter just now. Thus, aside from the mud and bloodstains, Fang Yuying’s face was actually clean.

To the onlookers, Fang Yuying’s most severe injury seemed to be the clump of hair, torn out with a piece of scalp, that Mother Fang had yanked from her head.

Mother Fang’s face, however, was a mess of black and blue, a truly miserable sight...

’The grace of giving birth and raising a child is greater than heaven itself. How could this female comrade be so cruel?’

Fang Yuying gritted her teeth and said, ”I’m not going back!”

”If I go with you now, will I even have a chance to survive? Don’t you just want me to give up my job, and then be willingly sold off by you like a piece of merchandise for a high price?”

”I’ve put up with you for over twenty years, but you just keep taking a mile for every inch I give.”

”I’m putting my foot down today. Either we both lose and no one gets to think about this job, or I work here and give you one-third of my salary every month!”

Father Fang and Mother Fang hesitated.

They could clearly sense that this girl had grown a backbone after her time in the countryside; she was no longer someone they could mold to their will.

To get this job at the General Hospital, they had exhausted nearly all the family’s money, ration coupons, and connections. They couldn’t risk losing the job in the slightest.

But to let this girl keep it was a thought that could make them die of frustration!

”You keep one-third, give the rest to us,” Father Fang said through gritted teeth after weighing his options.

Fang Yuying narrowed her eyes slightly, knowing she had won the gamble.

She said coolly, ”Don’t treat me like a workhorse, toiling away to earn money to support your family. You get one-third, or you get nothing at all!”

”Half, or we’ll make such a scene you won’t be able to work...”

The family of three openly haggled in front of everyone.

The crowd wore strange expressions. This was a public place. Just moments ago, the mother and daughter had been tearing at each other as if they wanted the other dead, and now they were treating the job like a business transaction.

The director of the Human Resources Department, Gu Nianchi, who had come after hearing of the commotion, now understood the whole story.

Her face was cold as she said, ”I’m sorry, but this is a hospital, not a vegetable market. Our General Hospital is the leading hospital in the Capital City. Every member of our medical staff is required to not only be technically proficient and experienced, but also possess a noble sense of medical ethics.”

”A parent who beats and berates their daughter as if she were a servant from the old society, and a daughter who dares to impulsively strike her mother—they would be turned away from any workplace.”

”Therefore, Comrade Fang Yuying, you can go to the Human Resources Department now to settle this month’s wages and complete the termination procedures.”

Fang Yuying and her parents were all stunned.

It wasn’t just them; even the crowd of onlookers hadn’t expected a fight to have such serious consequences for a job.

Jobs in this era weren’t like those in the future, where you could be fired just like that.

Once a person secured a job, it was generally a guarantee of livelihood for life.

Fang Yuying immediately said resentfully, ”Director Gu, are you being partial to Chi Yun’er because she used to be in the Human Resources Department and is the vice president’s daughter?”

”Is this fair to me? You’re firing me today; does this mean tomorrow you can fire someone else without reason just to satisfy your personal desires?”

”You’re the director of the Human Resources Department, but what right do you have to fire me?”

Gu Nianchi smiled. ”As the director of the Human Resources Department, I have a certain amount of authority when it comes to hiring and firing.”

”Right now, so many staff members, patients, and their families have seen your ugly side. If you treat your own family like this, who would dare let you, Dr. Fang, treat them?”

”When a person’s character is corrupt, what is there left to trust?”

”You’ve caused such a terrible scene in the lobby and damaged the reputation of our institution. It’s already generous of us not to demand compensation from you.”

She then looked at Father Fang and Mother Fang. ”Take your daughter home. And from now on, don’t overreach. The hospital will not accept anyone from your family for employment here.”

”Otherwise, we wouldn’t mind reporting this matter, in its entirety, to your respective work units.”

Father Fang and Mother Fang were classic bullies, preying on the weak and fearing the strong. Seeing Gu Nianchi’s stern, cold face and hearing her harsh words, they hunched their shoulders and bowed their backs. Unwilling, yet forced to comply, they nodded and promised to take Fang Yuying away and not cause any more trouble for the General Hospital.
