When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 422: Chapter 1152: The Green Tea Female Supporting Character in an Era Novel (39)

It felt like a gift that hadn’t been properly cherished.

Jiang Yihua smiled and nodded. ”It won’t just be you. I’m sure I’ll be dragged in for a lecture every day, too.”

”As a member of the Agricultural Institute, I have to be pragmatic. I can’t waste land on bourgeois tastes.”

”But, we can put some flower racks over the vegetable garden. If we arrange them properly, we can make use of every inch of sunlight.”

”The Agricultural Institute has made a breakthrough in high-yield grain research. It’s only a matter of time before everyone has enough to eat, with a surplus. So now, the Institute is starting to select new research directions.”

”I’ve done my research and looked into it carefully. Cash crops can bring in significant profits, and they’re a renewable resource that doesn’t cause pollution. It could be a long-term research project.”

”Flowers are a gift from nature; you can’t just brand them as a ’capitalist’ indulgence. Besides working hard, shouldn’t people be allowed to have positive hobbies and interests?”

”Tending to flowers and plants can soothe the spirit. As people’s standard of living rises, so do their spiritual and cultural pursuits.”

”Whether it’s people’s pursuit of beauty or the international demand for flowers, this is a project with a very promising future.”

”Our home will become my personal laboratory, filled with all sorts of beautiful flowers. What do you think?”

Chi Yun’er smiled, her lips pursed. ”Brother Hua, if you weren’t arguing your case so eloquently, I’d think you were just trying to please me by switching from a crop farmer to a flower farmer.”

Jiang Yihua nodded earnestly. ”You were definitely a big part of my decision. My original plan was to research how to make crops resistant to drought, wind, and disease.”

”If my career can also serve the person I love, then I’ll be passionate about my work for the rest of my life.”

”Besides, even though I’m a bit of a rugged guy, deep down I’m a romantic. I have that sentimental side.”

Chi Yun’er’s heart swelled with joy, and she couldn’t resist throwing herself into his arms.

”Then, if my plan to convert the area around the hospital into shops works out well, we could develop the area around the Agricultural Institute too. Then we can just open up a door in our west wing and start a business.”

”I’ll open a flower shop that sells drinks!”

’How many girls dreamed of living a life like this?’

To open a shop filled with the fragrance of flowers and warm sunlight on a bustling street, a place that felt like a world apart. Romantic, melodious music would play inside as she leisurely trimmed the stems, arranging beautiful bouquets for customers and passing along their deepest affections.

There would also be a window selling all sorts of treats no one with a sweet tooth could refuse: milk tea, fruit tea, and ice cream. She’d hire two or three employees, and she’d be set for life!

Jiang Yihua said with a smile, ”As long as the floriculture project gets approved, there will be plenty of family members opening flower shops. So, to make sure my wife’s shop stands out, I’ll have to work extra hard to make sure you have beautiful flowers and plants that no one else has.”

The young couple had so many dreams for the future. The more they talked, the more excited they became, until they couldn’t help but pull out a pen and paper to list out all their plans, ready to tackle them one by one.

「Once the summer heat subsided a little,」 they went to the logistics department to pick out furniture.

The selection of furniture on the market was very limited, with everything being rather plain and conventional. They decided to make do for now and slowly replace things with pieces they loved later on.

Considering the future plans for the west wing, Chi Yun’er moved the contents of her hobby room back into their bedroom, freeing up that space to be a guest room.

They discussed knocking out the entire wall of the west wing, leaving only the load-bearing beams, and replacing it all with glass to create a sunroom. Once the row of shops was built, they would also cut two large windows into the other wall and weld iron security bars over them.

Jiang Yihua and Chi Yun’er quickly picked out their furniture, cross-referencing the house’s dimensions with their needs, and scheduled the delivery for the next afternoon.

For the next few days, they were like industrious ants, making trip after trip to get their new home in order.

Meanwhile, both sets of parents used their time after work to come over and look around several times, taking mental notes of anything the couple still needed so they could buy it for them.

Neither family was short on money, so as the neighbors watched item after item—each one not terribly expensive on its own, but tasteful and of high quality—flow into the Jiang Family home, they were practically sick with envy.

The Agricultural Institute offered good benefits, and the men’s salaries were high. But aside from a genius like Jiang Yihua, most of the people who worked there were old enough to be grandparents.

They had enough children to form a basketball team, so their financial burdens were considerable.
