Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 3135: Chapter 3136: Encircled by Wolves

Angel waited, and waited until the sun leaned westward.

Moreover, during the wait, more people arrived at the Signal Tower, showing just how bustling it is now.

There was a small incident in the meantime.

Among the newcomers, some unruly individuals attempted to cut in line.

Angel originally thought he could watch a scene, however, before the line-cutters could bully the weak, they were stopped by their companions.

Angel initially didn’t understand why, but later learned from the whispers of other people that there were Birlos Family members specifically keeping watch inside the Signal Tower.

As long as someone causes trouble inside the Signal Tower, like fighting, cutting in line, vandalism... etcetera, the Birlos Family members would immediately intervene, expelling the troublemakers and their companions for violating the rules, barring them from using the Signal Tower again.

In the past, the Birlos Family was not so strict, nor did they care much about the internal affairs of the Signal Tower.

But things are different now.

The Birlos Family members are not foolish, they are well aware that among those using the Signal Tower, many intend to contact their backing forces, planning to take advantage of the Birlos Family’s weakness to grab a share.

According to the agreement with Sky Mechanical City, they will not stop others from using the Signal Tower.

But if someone ”causes trouble” inside the Signal Tower, they can rightfully expel those people, not allowing them to use the Signal Tower.

Even if this expulsion is reported to Sky Mechanical City, no one will say anything.

Thus, the internal security of the Signal Tower has become excellent, the queue orderly, and no one dares to do anything unnecessary.

After all, in these people’s view, the Birlos Family is currently in a lone wolf phase, and while they want to grab a share, they absolutely don’t want to be bitten hard by a solitary wolf at its last gasp.

Following the rules now is to gain greater benefits later.

From this, it can also be seen that the situation of the Birlos Family is not very favorable, somewhat akin to being besieged on all sides.

”Will the Birlos Family lose power because of this, and eventually suffer a complete downfall?” At this moment, after understanding the situation of the Birlos Family, Olao asked curiously.

Angel shook his head: ”No.”

Olao: ”Why? Aren’t they surrounded by wolves now?”

”They are surrounded by wolves, but the wolves at most attack animals on the ground. They are helpless against a golden eagle that is not in the same race.”

Olao seemed a bit confused.

Angel did not immediately explain, because their conversation had already attracted the attention of others.

Many around were curious, looking in Angel’s direction.

If it were just a small pawn boasting, they naturally wouldn’t care, but Angel is an Official Wizard. His aura wasn’t concealed at all, and even if he had changed his appearance so others couldn’t recognize him, the conclusion of an Official Wizard definitely carries more weight than others.

Olao seemed to notice the surrounding gazes as well, and didn’t continue to question.

And, it just happened that at this time, the door in front of them opened, someone had finished using the Signal Tower and was leaving, and according to turn, it was finally their time to enter.

Seeing Angel and Olao disappear, the other people in the hall showed disappointed expressions, they thought they could hear some secrets...

Though disappointed, not many truly believed Angel’s words.

After all, Angel didn’t provide any evidence. Moreover, Wizards always require proof, they seldom retreat unless they hit a dead-end wall.

Leaving the noisy hall, Angel and Olao walked down the inner corridor of the Signal Tower.

There are two rooms in the corridor, one equipped with communication devices, the other is the monitoring room. In the monitoring room sits a Wizard Apprentice from Sky Mechanical City.

He can use the machines in the monitoring room to monitor the situation in the communication room in real-time.

Of course, he isn’t monitoring the conversation content of others but the integrity of the devices within the communication room.

If someone damages the devices, the monitoring room can receive an alert immediately and relay the message out. This also prevents anyone from intentionally causing damage.

Angel brought Olao all the way to the communication room.

The interior of the communication room looks quite simple; no machines are visible to the naked eye, only a dynamic energy source capable of a large magic crystal allocation, and a numeric input port.

Once magic crystals are allocated and the corresponding transmission segment is pressed in the numeric input port, it can contact the Signal Tower of various organizations.

Different locations have different magic crystal investments for their Signal Towers.

For instance, if contacting a Signal Tower in a subordinate world, the initial investment is five hundred magic crystals, with a contact time of five minutes, followed by a hundred magic crystals per minute.

Since subordinate worlds are not on the same plane as the main world, the price is naturally a bit higher.

If the Signal Tower being contacted is in the main world, the consumption is much lower.

At this time, Angel was contacting the Signal Tower of Sky Mechanical City, which only required thirty magic crystals, with the same contact time of five minutes; after five minutes, six magic crystals are needed per minute.

The price is relatively cheaper, but still costly.

Angel knew that once the Signal Tower is installed, the actual power source activation only requires three magic crystals... Even for subordinate worlds, only fifty to a hundred magic crystals are needed.

Even if various forces take a cut in between, this fee is considerably high.

After activating the communication device, Angel also dissolved the Shapeshifting Technique, returning to his true appearance.

As the communication device was activated, a light screen appeared before them, flickering for several seconds, revealing a woman dressed in Sky Mechanical City uniform.

This was the ”operator” of Sky Mechanical City.

Seeing Angel, the operator’s pupil visibly changed, yet her usual contact professionalism quickly composed her, respectfully inquiring whom Angel wished to connect with or transfer to.

Angel did not immediately contact Portia but asked the operator to help reach ”Magic Potion” Midora.

Angel wanted to see if Midora could help manage Qi Li’s issue. Plus, asking Midora about Portia’s attitude, having some rough idea would be better when contacting Portia later.

However, he couldn’t contact Midora directly. Even if Angel showed his true appearance, it might be fake, so there must be verification, and the verifier is... Antonio.

After a short while, a phantom white shadow appeared on the light screen, its facial features indistinct, but vaguely human-shaped.

This person was the guardian Divine Spirit of Fantasy Mechanical City, Antonio.

Antonio: ”Mr. Pat?”

Angel nodded: ”It’s me, long time no see.”

At this moment, Antonio still couldn’t confirm Angel’s identity. After a moment of silence, he said: ”Mr. Pat, do you still remember the number and exchange points for the Transforming Soft-bodied Insect, the median eye of the White-cheeked Domain Demon, and the median eye of the Black-cheeked Domain Demon in the Demonic Materials library?”

Angel did not hesitate and said directly: ”The last time I checked, the remaining quantity of the Transforming Soft-bodied Insect was 0, with exchange points of 25.”

”The median eye of the White-cheeked Domain Demon has exchange points of 30, originally there were 3 remaining. After I exchanged for one, two were left.”

”As for the median eye of the Black-cheeked Domain Demon... I don’t know, I don’t seem to have seen it in the Demonic Materials library.”

After hearing Angel’s answer, Antonio’s phantom figure slightly bowed and performed a chest salute: ”Mr. Pat, long time no see.”

Clearly, Angel had passed Antonio’s test.

Angel also returned the salute.

Antonio’s figure was now much clearer than before. Although his face could not be seen, he was wearing the standard tailcoat. This also represented that Antonio had entered the Signal Tower with his true body, which was a mark of respect for Angel.

”Mr. Pat, are you looking for a Magic Potion Master? I can help you contact him now.”

Angel nodded: ”Yes, I have some matters I want to discuss with Master Midora, and the Bosia Witch. However, we can contact the Bosia Witch later, I would like to talk to Master Midora first.”

Antonio did not ask further, he nodded while contacting Midora through Divine Thought.

Midora knew that Angel was looking for him, and naturally, he did not refuse. He directly flew towards the Signal Tower.

As Midora was on his way, Angel chatted with Antonio.

The topics were quite casual, mostly about the situation of the Research and Development Institute and whether Director Muse had come out of isolation.

Antonio did not hide anything and provided comprehensive answers.

Not long after, Antonio sensed that Midora was already near the Signal Tower. He was ready to take his leave, but Angel said: ”It’s fine, let’s listen together. I also want to ask for your opinion.”

Although Antonio didn’t know what Angel wanted to inquire about, as the exclusive ’customer service’ of the Research and Development Institute, he naturally nodded and stayed in the Signal Tower.

On the other side, Midora also entered the Signal Tower. Upon seeing Angel’s silhouette on the light screen opposite, his first instinct wasn’t to greet but to curiously ask: ”Hmm, it’s showing that your transmission location is... Bilun Tree Court.”

”Why did you go to Bilun Tree Court? Was it Lord Rhein who sent you there?”

Seeing the kind old man with messy orange hair on the other side, Angel smiled and shook his head: ”No, I just came to handle some matters... Is Master Midora surprised by my presence at Bilun Tree Court? Is there something unusual about it?”

Midora shook his head: ”There’s nothing particularly unusual, it’s just that you know there has been a night attack incident at Bilun Tree Court recently, right?”

Angel nodded: ”I know, I was on the scene at the time.”

Midora: ”...”

Angel looked at Midora curiously and said: ”The attack incident here should have little to do with Sky Mechanical City, so why do I see such a big reaction from you?”

”Indeed, it has little relation, but recently the major magazines in the city have been vividly exaggerating this incident, as if certain individuals are trying to stir things up.”

Angel: ”Stir things up? Could it be that Sky Mechanical City is also planning to get a share of Bilun Tree Court?”

Midora shook his head: ”I am quite sure that City Lord Rosen doesn’t think that way, but you know that Sky Mechanical City has many affiliated forces. They want to take this opportunity to cause some trouble... Moreover, it is said that the Sky Tower Registration Office at Bilun Tree Court was also destroyed by the Birlos Family, and this has become a pretext for them to stir up trouble.”

Angel: ”The Sky Tower Registration Office was indeed destroyed, but it was not done by the Birlos Family, it was those attackers who did it.”

Midora: ”I also know about this matter, but for those who stir up public opinion, this is not an issue. They can describe a living thing as dead, and naturally, they can turn white into black.”

At this point, Midora couldn’t help but sigh: ”It’s a good thing that there are many magazine publishers in Sky Mechanical City, but the excessive output of information can also bring significant aftereffects.”

Angel laughed: ”It will change.”

—Once the Wilderness of Dreams goes online, it will definitely change.

However, Midora didn’t know about the Wilderness of Dreams, and he just thought Angel was trying to be comforting: ”Changing it is too difficult.”

After a pause, Midora continued: ”Anyway, there’s nothing much to say about these troublesome matters, I just wanted to remind you that Bilun Tree Court is currently at the center of a stormy vortex, and you should be careful over there.”

Angel: ”Don’t worry, I know. However, saying that it is the center of a stormy vortex is not quite accurate.”

Midora looked over with curiosity: ”Oh? From what you say, do you know some insider information?”

Angel didn’t answer immediately, instead, he glanced at Olao beside him: ”Just now, my friend asked me how the Birlos Family, surrounded by wolves, can unravel the predicament.”

”My current answer is that the Birlos Family will have a piece of their flesh bitten off, but not everyone will have the chance to bite. Moreover, the Birlos Family will not fall apart because of this turmoil.”

Midora: ”Why?”

”Because the Birlos Family has now found a new patron.”

”The Black Earl.”

Midora obviously didn’t know about the inside information, and was a bit surprised: ”Not long ago, I heard that the Black Earl’s main body had left the Noah Family...”

Angel nodded: ”That’s right, the main body of Lord Black Earl is right in Bilun Tree Court.”

As for how the Birlos Family gained the backing of Black Earl, Angel didn’t mention it, and Midora didn’t inquire... In his view, it was normal for Angel to know about Black Earl since the relationship between Black Earl and Lord Rhein was close, but it was unlikely Angel would know Black Earl’s plans, so asking would be pointless.

Midora: ”So, Lord Black Earl is in Bilun Tree Court... Now this matter is getting interesting, does he also intend to get involved in the three-sided struggle?”

Midora didn’t believe that Black Earl would set his sight on Bilun Tree Court. His involvement must have a deeper strategy, which undoubtedly relates to the currently chaotic Gumman Kingdom.

As one of the top Wizards in the Southern Domain, Black Earl is only a step away from reaching the realm of Legend, and the actions of King Gumman might offer a breakthrough opportunity to reach Legend. Even Lord Monty is paying close attention, so naturally, there is a probability of Black Earl getting involved.

Angel was well aware of Black Earl’s attitude towards the Gumman Kingdom. If it were before, Black Earl might have some interest in King Gumman’s actions, but now he definitely wouldn’t be interested.

After all, even Augustine, who is likely to be a Miracle, explicitly told Black Earl that his path to the realm of Legend lies in the Origin World.

Having learned of this, the Black Earl naturally would not be interested in the chaos of the Gumman Kingdom.

However, Angel wasn’t going to divulge these insider details. Therefore, upon hearing Midora’s doubts, Angel remained silent, saying nothing.

Midora didn’t mind. He was just talking to himself and wasn’t expecting an answer from Angel.
