Chapter 3105: Chapter 3106: Special Perk

If she hadn’t misunderstood, Maggie meant she was waiting outside the Little Treasure Tower to give her a special reward?

Jeanne was somewhat flattered but also a bit puzzled: ”Wh-why?”

Maggie smiled and said, ”There’s no particular reason, purely because I find you very agreeable. Plus, as the first challenger, I’m giving you a little benefit in my personal capacity.”

At this point, Maggie suddenly changed her tone: ”However, with my authority, I can’t alter your personal reward pool, nor can I directly give you enchanted land tools. The benefits I can offer are limited, so don’t expect too much.”

Hearing this, Jeanne felt a bit relieved. If Maggie directly gave her the so-called enchanted land tool, she wouldn’t know whether to accept it or not.

Maggie soon spoke about the ”special reward” she was giving out.

”I mentioned before that each floor of the Little Treasure Tower is actually random. The trials on the same floor, for different people, have different final challenges.”

”However, what I said wasn’t entirely accurate. After your trial, I discovered that the trial of the Little Treasure Tower isn’t entirely random either.”

”It will evaluate your performance from the previous floor and score it. Based on this score, it determines the possible trial you might encounter next and the difficulty level.”

”Take this trial, for instance, the twelve-hour countdown, you solved it in less than an hour. In the Little Treasure Tower’s scoring system, your score is quite high. Your next challenge’s difficulty will increase accordingly.”

Jeanne: ”???” The better I perform, the harder the next challenge becomes. What’s the reasoning behind this?

Maggie seemed to notice Jeanne’s confusion and explained with a smile: ”It’s actually not hard to understand. The Little Treasure Tower categorizes all challengers into different ranks, roughly elite challengers, ordinary challengers, rookie challengers... etc., with different levels of rewards.”

”The rewards on one floor for an elite challenger might be more than the combined rewards for two or three floors for a rookie challenger.”

”You’ve passed the first floor with a beautiful score, and under the Little Treasure Tower’s discerning eye, you’ve been classified as an elite challenger.”

”If you continue to pass the floors as an elite challenger, your reward pool will experience an astonishing accumulation.”

In simple terms, the reward for a rookie passing one hundred twenty floors might not be more than the total reward for an elite passing forty floors.

So, don’t think high difficulty trials on each floor are persecuting you; in fact, they’re rewarding you.

Also, rookies can’t smoothly sail through low-difficulty trials reaching one hundred twenty floors.

Rookie challengers and ordinary challengers will face a deliberately hard instance every few floors in the Little Treasure Tower, which acts as a filter for challengers. Pass it, and your challenger rank increases, fail, and it’s bye-bye.

”As an elite challenger, if your performance on a certain floor trial is poor, even if you pass, the Little Treasure Tower will revoke your elite status, thereby lowering your trial difficulty, and your reward level will decrease accordingly. Of course, you still have a chance to regain elite status later, but the final rewards will certainly be discounted.”

Jeanne suddenly understood, nodding her head, she roughly got it—it’s the ”the stronger get stronger” concept?

Maggie: ”It’s precisely because the Little Treasure Tower has such a ranking mechanism that the challenges given to different challengers are distinct. Rookie challengers face the most barren challenges, mainly circulating between puzzles and fighting. But elite challengers are different; the types are very rich, testing you from multi-dimensional aspects.”

At this point, Maggie finally brought up the ”benefit” she was giving Jeanne.

”And what I mentioned as a special reward is notifying you in advance, through my authority, about the possible types of challenges on the next trial floor.”

”Knowing the next challenge type in advance?” Jeanne didn’t initially grasp the importance of this reward, but after quietly repeating it a few times, her eyes suddenly lit up: If you know the challenge type in advance, wouldn’t that allow targeted training during ’preparation’ time?

Then she could continuously proceed down the elite challenger path, maximizing the rewards?!

But then again...

”Is this considered cheating?” Jeanne asked somewhat timidly.

Maggie shook her head with a smile: ”It’s not cheating. Based on the information I received, I have the authority to reveal it. However, whether I’ll reveal it all depends on my mood.”

”Also, I actually don’t know your next specific trial. I only know a weight ratio.”

”What I’m able to tell you is the three trial types with the largest weight ratios that you might encounter next.”

”But ultimately, I don’t know which one you’ll actually face.”

Simply put, it goes from a genuine random multiple choice to a random three-choice-one.

Although not knowing the exact content of the next trial floor was slightly disappointing, Jeanne thought about it carefully. Even if it’s a three-choice-one, it’s quite good. At worst, it means a longer ’preparation’ time, and more preparation isn’t harmful to her. Even if the preparation isn’t used for this trial, it might be for the next one.

Therefore, Jeanne naturally wanted to accept this reward.

However, she also understood one principle—that all gifts extended under a guise of being free aren’t truly free; it’s just that what you pay might not be money but something else.

Did Miss Maggie really give her this benefit just because ”you’re the first challenger” or ”you’re a kind person, and I find you pleasing”?

Might she have other intentions but just not saying them now, only to request them in the future?

While Jeanne was hesitating in her heart, Maggie suddenly furrowed her brows: ”Oh, is someone trying to enter Silver Coral Island?”

Jeanne looked over puzzled... Someone’s coming in; could it be Master Pat?

”Not being repelled by Silver Coral Island indicates no ill intent. However, whether there’s qualification to enter the island still requires my personal observation...” Maggie murmured lowly and then pointed lightly towards a nearby spot.

In the direction she pointed, a door of halo slowly opened.

As the door opened, a pair of young men and women and a stooped elderly woman came in from the entrance.

Undoubtedly, these three were Angel, Laplace, and Glaipnir.

Maggie carefully scrutinized the three people. She first looked at Glaipnir, who appeared ”the oldest,” since in Maggie’s understanding, the older someone is, the more unruly the inner thoughts they have, reducing the chances of her recognition.

Using the power of the mind feedback from Silver Coral Island, she carefully probed and found her thoughts relatively pure, without malice towards Silver Coral Island, and not too greedy either.

Yes, her judgment on kindness wasn’t based on a moral perspective of ”good and evil,” but rather on whether a person’s mind is pure, whether there’s too much negative emotion like greed, and whether there’s malice towards Silver Coral Island.

Glaipnir currently qualified.

Next, Maggie looked at the silver-haired girl Laplace.

The final result was also acceptable. Her heart was even purer than Glaipnir’s, and this purity could calm her Power of the Mind.

In Maggie’s view, this was definitely a ”pure” person. Even her ”colleague,” the Unicorn Holy Beast, would likely bow and approach her.

The first two both qualified to enter Silver Coral Island, which put Maggie in a good mood.

As a special Talented member granted by the Wonderland of Dreams, she was happy to see her Immortal Realm gain more attention.

The Little Treasure Tower is a trial tower. If no one challenges it, it loses its purpose.

So, the more who can enter Silver Coral Island, the happier she becomes.

Maggie then turned her gaze to the last person, and the only male present, Angel.

Upon assessment, Angel’s purity of heart was similar to Glaipnir’s, qualifying him to enter Silver Coral Island. However, Maggie always felt something strange about Angel.

Standing here, it was as if he was deeply loved by this land and sky.

Could it be that he passed some Immortal Realm and obtained a ”natural affinity” ability?

Although Maggie didn’t know if her guess was true, it didn’t matter. Someone beloved by nature couldn’t be a ”bad” person by her standards.

”Are you three here to participate in the Little Treasure Tower challenge?” Maggie smiled at them: ”I know you have many questions about this place. Feel free to ask.”

The three exchanged glances: Questions? They’ve been watching the live broadcast; what questions could they have?

However, Glaipnir did have some doubts: Maggie showed no emotional fluctuations when looking at her and Laplace, confirming she had no feelings for the Creator or any memories of them.

But when she looked at Angel, there was something different in her eyes. Why?

Glaipnir knew Angel could manipulate the Wonderland of Dreams Authority in some way, but that wasn’t why Angel would receive special treatment... After all, in other Fairyland instances, as a participant, Angel hadn’t been specially treated by NPCs.

Why did Maggie care about Angel? Was it because she was a special NPC?

Even though Glaipnir was curious, she didn’t ask... delving into Angel’s matters had been explicitly forbidden by Laplace; at most, she could ponder inwardly, but asking was out of the question.

Since the three already knew the general mechanism of the Silver Coral Island, none of them spoke up, leading to an awkward silence.

In the end, it was Angel who broke the silence.

”Yes, we do have many questions, especially about this realm, the Mermaid Lady’s Little Treasure Tower challenge, and the Mermaid Lady herself. We’re very curious. Could you enlighten us?”

Angel had no intention of showcasing his ”specialness” in front of the NPC, especially one that could appear outside the instance. Cooperation was necessary.

Maggie smiled: ”Of course. But before I begin, you don’t have to call me Mermaid Lady. My kind is called Treasure Mermaid. Our names are lengthy and complicated to humans, so to avoid confusion, you can call me Maggie.”

Maggie first apologized softly to Jeanne, noting they would discuss the reward afterward.

Then, Maggie started the introduction.

The introduction was similar to what she told Jeanne before.

The only difference was that she pre-emptively answered some questions Jeanne had previously asked. For instance: Who could challenge the Little Treasure Tower? Who determines the standard of goodness? It’s okay to stay long-term on Silver Coral Island, but there are thresholds... and so on.

After covering most of it, Maggie smiled and asked: ”Now, do you have any other questions?”

In Maggie’s view, this time, her Q&A was perfectly comprehensive, integrating the experience she gained from Jeanne. There should be no more questions, right?

Glaipnir and Laplace didn’t have any questions as she expected, only whispering to each other off to the side.

But Angel stood forward with a question.

”I have a question.” Angel looked at Maggie and asked under her gaze: ”Why is this place called the... ’Little’ Treasure Tower?”

If the trial instance on Silver Coral Island was called simply ”Treasure Tower,” Angel wouldn’t question the name.

But the name had a quantifier: Little Treasure Tower.

This piqued his interest.

Just as a city having an ”Old City” implies a ”New City,” so the presence of a Little Treasure Tower suggests there might be a Great Treasure Tower.

Maggie’s tail gently swayed as her deep gaze locked onto Angel: ”You’re quite observant.”

Angel: ... No, this isn’t observation; it’s a question of linguistic logic.

Maggie: ”I guess you’re wondering, since there’s a Little Treasure Tower, is there a Great Treasure Tower? My answer is yes, there is a Great Treasure Tower.”

Maggie’s words piqued everyone’s curiosity: ”There really is a Great Treasure Tower?”

Maggie nodded: ”Yes, there is a Great Treasure Tower, but it is not on Silver Coral Island; it is located on Gold Coral Island. Gold Coral Island is also in this vast sea, but you can’t set sail from here to go there, because Gold Coral Island is shrouded in Mist and currently inaccessible.”

Being obscured by Mist and currently inaccessible implies a threshold to going to Gold Coral Island.

Angel: ”Maggie, do you mean that we can go to Gold Coral Island in the future, or do we need to meet certain conditions first?”

Maggie chuckled and nodded: ”Correct, there are indeed prerequisites for going to Gold Coral Island. Which is... clearing the Little Treasure Tower.”

”Once someone clears all one hundred and twenty levels of the Little Treasure Tower, the Great Treasure Tower on Gold Coral Island will be unlocked. With the unlocking of the Great Treasure Tower, the Mist shrouding Gold Coral Island will disperse; at that point, I can open the route to Gold Coral Island and lead you there.”

”However, the Great Treasure Tower on Gold Coral Island can only be challenged by those who have completed the Little Treasure Tower. Those who haven’t cleared the Little Treasure Tower will gain no benefits by going to Gold Coral Island.”
