Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 3130: Chapter 3131: Olao’s Personality

In the following time, Luigi began practicing the ”Nocturne of the Night Sparrow Flying Freely”.

Although it was his first time, as a master performer, his speed of assimilation was extraordinary. If all goes well, he should be able to handle it with ease before nighttime falls.

While Luigi was practicing, Angel was not idle either; he first returned to reality.

Walking out from the quiet room, unsurprisingly, he saw the ”Five Little Ones” sitting neatly outside, watching the Shadow Box.

Among the Five Little Ones, only Olao and Speedy immediately sensed Angel’s presence, while Heideland, Wood Spirit, and Dangross did not notice.

Wood Spirit and Dangross were engrossed in the plot of ”Anomalous Fire Alchemist,” while Heideland appeared to be dozing off.

Angel didn’t disturb the captivated Wood Spirit and Dangross, but simply sent a message to Olao, as he was prepared to have a good chat with him.

Olao naturally did not resist, and soon, he arrived at the quiet room.

...

Olao had changed significantly since the last time they met.

Though wearing a wide-brimmed hat, it could not conceal the locks of colorful hair gleaming from beneath its brim...

Angel remembered well that after Olao’s last awakening, unable to control his appearance, Angel had used the Illusion Technique palette to change Olao’s looks, skin color, and hair color.

Back then, Olao eventually chose black hair, but during the color-changing process, he delightedly changed to neon green or added purple streaks at will.

Since it was Olao’s first awakening after leaving the Qingkong Poetry Room and breaking the contract, Angel had thought it was just a process of adapting to the outside world.

But seeing the colorful hair peeking from beneath the hat today, Angel was a bit at a loss.

How much did this guy adore flamboyant colors?!

Angel wasn’t against such preferences, but Olao’s attire was still a black evening suit, with a simple white on the chest, and he wore a hat with a black base and white floral rim—a picture of a gentleman with impeccable taste.

Yet, that colorful hair was like a jarring bladelike intrusion into the gentlemanly aura.

While it didn’t provoke the feeling of ruining an aesthetic, it was disconcerting nonetheless.

Perhaps Angel’s gaze was too ”appreciative,” as Olao also noticed Angel’s focus.

He shyly pinched the hair at his temples, ”Lord Angel, is there something wrong with my hair?”

Angel was silent for a moment, yet still suppressed the flood of old grievances, replying calmly, ”It’s nothing, really. I’m just captivated by your hair color. It is... quite unique.”

Uniquely ostentatious.

”As long as it doesn’t bother your lordship.”

Angel: ”...It doesn’t.”

Not bothersome, just rather eye-catching—in the literal sense of the word.

Olao scratched his nose, a little embarrassed as he laughed, ”Personally, I think this color’s a bit flashy. But, Red Sword said to me before that in the outside world, if you lack individuality, you’ll be swallowed by trends. He suggested that I should definitely find my own style. He also said that having a striking hair color is a way to show one’s individuality.”

Angel: No wonder the advice is so unreliable... it came from Dox.

Olao: ”I was afraid you might dislike it; thankfully, that’s not the case.”

Angel wanted to tell Olao that the opposite of dislike isn’t necessarily like; it might also just be indifference.

However, seeing Olao’s bashful expression, Angel couldn’t bring himself to say anything discouraging. Instead, he sighed inwardly and plushed in his words, ”Expressing individuality is good, but don’t follow trends blindly. True individuality comes from uncovering your own passions, not from someone else’s suggestions.”

”Dox believes hair color is a means of expression, but that’s merely his view, not yours.”

”Since he gave you one suggestion, allow me to offer another. I suggest that in the future, you seek to understand the external world—through what your eyes see, your body feels, your heart senses, and your desires bring forth within you, coupled with your horizon, understanding, and values—to find your true passion... that would be your individuality.”

Although Olao was quite the recluse unfamiliar with the world, he wasn’t actually dumb. After listening to Angel’s words, he seemed to have grasped something, and gently tapped his hair, turning the Mary Sue-tear-inducing rainbow mane into straight black hair.

”I didn’t mean for you to change immediately; the more important thing is whether your heart truly loves it.” Seeing Olao change his hair color right away, Angel himself became a bit embarrassed.

Olao chuckled shyly, ”Honestly, I’m not sure whether I liked this color; I think you’re very right. I need to reflect further.”

”Until I understand what hair color I truly like, I’ll stick with black. Black hair was the color I showed when bound by the contract.”

Angel: ”Speaking of being bound by the contract, I remember last time at Black Earl’s, you mentioned that you couldn’t enter the Mirror Domain while constrained by the contract?”

Olao nodded, then shook his head.

”I just couldn’t enter the true Mirror Domain, but I could still enter ordinary shallow mirror surfaces.”

Angel: ”Shallow mirror surfaces? You mean the Buffer Zone?”

Olao nodded, ”Yes.”

Olao’s response was quite calm, but to Angel, it was rather saddening.

Adanis, though confined to the Qingkong Poetry Room for years, could at least enter the Daylight Mirror Domain. Moreover, her freedom wasn’t entirely restricted, as she could still observe the real world through the mirror.

But Olao was unable to access the Mirror Domain at all, spending millennia confined to the small Qingkong Poetry Room.

Even Angel felt it was a bit too much.

Augustine was truly an asshole!

Olao, on the other hand, was genuinely enduring. To put it nicely, he was the guardian of the Qingkong Poetry Room; bluntly, he was incarcerated there for millennia.

Millennia without seeing the sun, yet he managed to maintain an unrestrained mindset, actively pursuing ”trends”... this made Angel feel like his earlier circuitous comments about Olao’s hair color were somewhat excessive.

Angel coughed softly, ”You mentioned earlier that when confined, your hair turned black. But your true hair color isn’t black, right?”

Olao was slightly taken aback, not expecting Angel to skip back to the earlier topic.

He nodded, ”My true hair color is silver-white. You must have seen it before; my skin is also silver-colored.”

”Then why not switch to silver-white?”

Olao hesitated, ”Last time, Red Sword said that silver-white was too glaring...”

”He suggested you use multicolored hair, he’s not afraid of being dazzling, so why is silver hair dazzling?” Angel: ”Don’t mind what he says, besides, Laplace also has silver hair.”

”You... should know Laplace, right?”

Olao nodded: ”I know, she’s powerful. Although Adanis always secretly talks bad about her, I know Adanis actually admires Laplace from the bottom of her heart.”

”So, even someone as strong as Laplace doesn’t mind silver hair, why are you concerned?”

Olao thought about it and agreed, he reached out and touched his hair again. Along with a wave of energy dispersion, the black hair reverted to silver.

It must be said, Olao’s outfit, paired with his gentle and shy face, and his medium-length silver hair, still looks very good.

Angel’s insistence on having Olao restore his silver hair was actually because he heard that when Olao was bound by the contract, his hair was black. This gave Angel a vague illusion, wondering if Olao felt confined because of his hair color?

Restoring silver hair was to tell Olao that, both mentally and physically, he was already free.

Although Angel felt that Olao didn’t seem to care too much about these things...

Angel: ”When you and Dox went out earlier, did you gain anything?”

”Yes, I bought a lot of things...” Olao spoke while taking out his main body, trying to pull out the items he purchased during the shopping last time.

However, Angel stopped him.

”I’m not referring to the things you bought. What I’m asking is whether you had any thoughts?” Angel: ”Or, has your view of the world outside affected your plans for the future?”

Olao’s eyes flashed with hesitation: ”Sir Angel, are you concerned that I might be tempted by the outside world and leave you?”

Angel couldn’t help but laugh: ”I was the one who encouraged you to go out; why would I worry?”

”What I mean is, now that you’re no longer restrained by the contract, you might try to explore the larger world.” Angel: ”As for refining your essence into a mysterious object, that’s not urgent... I don’t yet have that ability.”

Olao: ”No need, following you, I can still see the outside world.”

Speaking of this, Olao took a deep breath and continued: ”Back in Qingkong Poetry Room, I initially didn’t agree to follow you because I hoped the master would take me away. But later, understanding the master’s situation, I abandoned that thought.”

”I trust the master’s choice, and following Sir Angel is something I willingly chose.”

Angel: ”...” He understood Olao’s intentions, but what Olao said increasingly sounded like he was being coerced—’I willingly chose,’ isn’t this the typical aggrieved character archetype in novels?

Of course, novels shouldn’t be mistaken for reality. When Olao said this, his gaze was clear and his emotions were genuine, indicating he really meant it. It’s just that due to different eras, he didn’t realize that ’I willingly chose’ often sounds like the opposite.

”So, what are your plans next?” Angel: ”Even if you’re following me, you should plan for the future.”

Olao thought for a moment and said: ”My long-term plan is to meet Master Augustine.”

—Augustine caused many troubles.

Angel: ”If there’s a chance, I’d also like to meet him again. So, if that’s your goal, we’re in agreement... And then? Besides this goal, do you have other plans or wishes?”

Olao: ”My mid-term plan is to meet Adigu.”

Angel didn’t speak this time, Adigu... he’d like to meet him too! But he can’t!

Augustine is slightly possible, given that Augustine left him a title—Chanter Bathed in Moonlight; in the future, as long as he finds the place where Augustine left his mind, perhaps he can use the title to meet Augustine.

But Adigu, that’s tough.

Adigu is Olao’s brother in name, and his essence is none other than the renowned ”Augustine Twinborn Mirror” of the Origin World!

This is a mysterious object famed alongside the Book of Kael!

Angel simply can’t think of a way to meet Adigu.

Olao paused and continued: ”As for my short-term goal, it’s to see the complete Adanis.”

The so-called ”complete Adanis” refers to Adanis going to the Origin World, retrieving the lost part from Margaret, and restoring her completeness.

This goal, although not completed by Angel, will be tackled by the Black Earl; and considering it’s referred to as a ”short-term” goal by Olao, Angel has nothing to say.

Restoring Adanis to completeness will likely require significant effort, and the time could definitely be long—decades? Or hundreds, thousands of years?

Indeed, Olao, having lived for millennia, practically doesn’t regard time.

While Angel marveled internally, he appeared perfectly calm on the surface. This calmness seemed to mislead Olao when he looked back, prompting him to add: ”Of course, whether long-term, mid-term, or short-term goals, I hope to witness them alongside Sir Angel.”

Angel: ”...” Actually, you don’t need to speak so rigidly. If your plans don’t include me, I won’t be upset.

Angel: ”Since you’ve already set grand plans, I won’t say much more. However, it’s not enough to just look to the distance; you should also consider the present.”

”Do you have anything you’d like to do right now?”

Olao scratched his head: ”Doesn’t seem like it... Oh, right, Black Earl promised to inform me when he leaves the Southern Domain for the Origin World. I hope to meet Adanis then.”

Angel: ”I know this, and I won’t prevent you from meeting Adanis; you can even meet her now.”

”What I mean is, don’t you want to improve yourself in your plans? For instance, enhance your strength?”

Olao was momentarily stunned: ”Does that need improvement?”

At first, Angel didn’t understand what Olao meant, but as he explained, Angel gradually understood why Olao said this.

Olao’s statement ”does this need improvement” stems from his previous powers being sealed. Now, the sealing is being gradually lifted. Once it’s fully unsealed, his talent and strength will naturally increase.

Moreover, he hasn’t been idly waiting through these millennia.

The accumulation during this time is sufficient to elevate his strength to a peak.

Therefore, short-term, there’s no need for deliberate enhancement of strength; the focus should be on uncovering his existing abilities.

Just like changing hair color, changing appearance—these ”perfect imitation” abilities weren’t available to Olao at the time of releasing his contract constraints, and were gradually unearthed later.

This deeply embedded power within Olao, based on his own perception, still holds much potential.

Thus, he’s not in a hurry to ascend in strength.
