Warlock Apprentice

After bidding farewell to Jon, Angel used God’s Eye to observe the situation in Originheart City.

Compared to before, the atmosphere in the city was much calmer. Most people were watching the seeds brought into the city by the green mist, some had matured, while others had only sprouted. Almost every plant was surrounded by people pointing and discussing.

However, the place with the most onlookers wasn’t near these plants, but around the Sky Tower.

Many people with ulterior motives, as well as those genuinely seeking answers, were all gathered around the Sky Tower, waiting for the Monroe City Lord to give them a response.

When the clock struck three in the afternoon, the tightly closed door of the Sky Tower finally opened, and everyone’s attention focused on the entrance.

Leading the way was the Monroe City Lord in regal attire, followed by a dozen members from the planning department.

As they emerged, the noise resumed, with all the citizens eagerly asking Monroe various questions.

Although the noisy sounds made it impossible for Monroe to hear their questions clearly, she calmly listened for two or three minutes. Then she raised her hand, gesturing for ”silence.”

Once everyone quieted down, Monroe said indifferently, ”I originally didn’t want to reveal many things to you as a form of protection. However, since you are so eager to know the answers, it’s no harm in telling you.”

Monroe especially emphasized ”eager” with her gaze directed at those who had once contested with her for the position of City Lord. She knew well that the public uproar was stirred up by these few people, and her look served as a warning.

”If you want to know the truth, keep your eyes open and see for yourselves.” Monroe didn’t offer explanations but stepped aside, standing to one side. The planning department members behind her also parted ways, leaving an open path.

Curious citizens looked on in confusion, and everyone was stunned.

Behind the planning department members, there appeared several figures with varied sizes, but definitely unrelated to ”humans”—aliens.

These aliens seemed yet to understand what was happening, looking around in bewilderment.

One alien with vines growing on its back tentatively extended a vine to touch a nearby human, seemingly inquiring about the current situation.

This scene before them left all the citizens speechless.

Aliens? Aliens!

While everyone was shocked by the appearance of the Dream Plant Fairies, Angel deeply observed the few bewildered Dream Plant Fairies and gradually faded away, leaving the Wilderness of Dreams.

Angel wasn’t concerned about the developments that would occur afterward.

How public opinion is managed and manipulated, Monroe surely has a contingency plan with her methods. As for the Dream Plant Fairies, Angel cared even less; those little ones weren’t inclined to fight, and with Flafiel using music to keep them appeased, they wouldn’t cause trouble.

Thus, there was no need to continue watching. Rather than watch a play that had already been spoiled, he might as well use the time to do something else.

Upon returning to reality, Angel didn’t immediately settle himself but sat quietly at his desk, fingers subconsciously tapping the surface, pondering over another matter.

The matter of talent.

For the development and research of the Mother Tree Network, relying solely on Jon wasn’t enough. Angel assured Jon he’d secure the right talent. He had spoken confidently then, but upon slowing down to consider, he realized it was somewhat challenging.

It’s not that he can’t find people; if he really wanted, publishing a task in the Task Hall would naturally attract a lot of apprentices.

What Angel cared about most was whether these people met Jon’s requirements? Also, could they be trusted?

Although the research of the Mother Tree Network doesn’t necessarily require all trustworthy people, certain core content—even if open—Angel still preferred to grant access to trustworthy individuals.

Yet such people were quite scarce around Angel.

Some trustworthy and useful individuals around Angel, like Lyon, Frode, Dororo, etc., had their own affairs and couldn’t devote all their energies to the Mother Tree Network research, and Angel didn’t want to disturb them.

As for Nausicaa and other friends of Angel, they weren’t currently in the Barbarian Cave, so there’s no need to consider them.

Excluding them, other people... Angel really didn’t have many talented individuals he could use.

”Perhaps, I should heed Tree Spirit’s advice and take on a few apprentices when the next Talented One comes?” Angel pondered, even if not accepting Talented Ones, it would be beneficial to train a few useful experimental assistants.

”Let’s see what the situation is like after Star-gazing Day before deciding.” Angel didn’t immediately make a decision, even if he really wanted to nurture a few trustworthy talents, he would wait for news from Dororo’s side.

With this in mind, Angel decided to temporarily set aside this worry and refocus on self-reflection.

...

The clock’s hands kept turning, time quietly flowing. When the pendulum once again echoed the sound of striking the hour, Angel came out of his reflection.

Angel glanced at the time, six in the morning.

”That’s about enough.” Angel murmured softly, stood up, tidied up the handbook on the desk, and without looking back, walked into the darkness.

Leaving the study, Angel stepped by step down to the first floor, passing through the dark corridor, emerging from the silent ruins.

The sky outside was still cloaked by Nightfall, Morning Star yet to arrive, the whole world seeming engulfed in darkness.

The surroundings of the ruins were dim as well, nothing visible, only the sound of cold winds whistling could be heard. The only thing illuminating, besides the sparse stars in the sky, was the big tree at the entrance of the ruins.

Under the concealment of illusion technique, the tree emitted a faint green glow, this was Tree Spirit’s avatar.

Angel glanced at the faintly glowing tree and didn’t intend to contact Tree Spirit, so he simply bypassed it, heading into the darkness.

He moved swiftly through the darkness, soon arriving at the nearby pit abyss leading to the Barbarian Cave.

Without hesitation, Angel jumped right in.

His figure continued to fall in the dark, and upon seeing a row of lights emerging from the dark cliff face, he promptly flew towards the light.

When Angel landed, the surroundings had transformed from a pitch-black abyss to a clean and spacious port.

This was the Windmill Town’s sky port.

Although the sky port still had lights on, the situation was the same as the last time he saw it, with no one around.

Apparently, although the living line was controlled, its subsequent impact hadn’t allowed the people of Windmill Town to walk out from its shadow.

Angel glanced at the path, opting not to fly, and instead followed the downward path towards Windmill Town.

Angel came to Windmill Town this time, naturally to look for Sanders.

Looking for Sanders wasn’t due to matters concerning the Wilderness of Dreams, but rather because of... Popota.

According to Hua Que’s deductions, unless unexpected, Popota would perish within these few hours. This matter, though not significant, they had anticipated Popota’s death. Yet, it wasn’t small either, given it involved the Demon God.

Careful handling was necessary; an oversight might draw the gaze of the Demon God.

Thus, Angel came to find Sanders to meticulously avoid any trace that might be discovered by the Demon God.
