Warlock Apprentice

Stepping back into reality from the Dream Bridge.

Before Angel even opened his eyes, he vaguely saw a shadow in front of him. His heart tightened as he suddenly sat up wide awake.

As his dilating pupils gradually calmed down, Angel finally noticed that the shadow he saw was actually the knight’s armor he had brought back earlier.

”I thought someone had broken in...” Angel muttered, sitting upright on the chair.

He had originally planned to continue researching the green pattern on his right forearm and introspecting upon returning to reality. But after being startled by the knight’s armor, his attention was constantly drawn to it.

”Should I study it a bit?” Angel thought, considering he now had plenty of time, a change of mental focus might even help with his research on the green pattern.

With this in mind, Angel focused his gaze on the magic pattern on the chest plate of the armor.

Here, there were over twenty fragmented magic patterns accumulated on one corner, and Angel decided to randomly choose one fragmented magic pattern to study.

The hands of the clock were ticking away softly, round after round.

About ten hours passed before Angel could tear his attention away from the densely scribbled paper in front of him.

Looking at the paper filled with scribbles, Angel only felt his head swelling. The reason he had suddenly stopped was not because the research was finished, but purely because... he couldn’t go on.

For the last ten hours, Angel had been doing one thing: restoring the fragmented magic pattern.

He speculated that if all these fragmented patterns were fully restored, it might be possible to construct a Magical Energy Array. So, he randomly picked a fragmented magic pattern and began to repair it, intending to restore it to a complete magic pattern.

Thinking about it was easy, but doing it was quite painful.

In fact, the more Angel worked on it, the more his head hurt.

Because the difficulty before him was almost insurmountable.

Firstly, it was only a fragment of the magic pattern; how was he to determine what the complete magic pattern was? One must know that each Magic Tattoo Horn could pair with different horns.

For instance, the horn meaning ”sun” could pair with ”cloud,” ”rain,” ”earth,” ”human,” ”fire”... over a thousand different Magic Tattoo Horns.

And after pairing, they could further combine.

Angel simply couldn’t determine which specific magic pattern it was?

Moreover, even if he listed all possible Magic Tattoo Horn combinations, what would the specific drawing of the magic pattern be? Different drawings would result in different effects. It’s known that magic patterns are not just plot drawings; three-dimensional drawings are also common.

Angel initially thought to list all possible combinations of the Magic Tattoo Horn in his hand first, and then proceed to other matters.

After ten hours, he listed nearly 180 types, and he still wasn’t done. If he wanted, with his knowledge coverage, he estimated he could list several hundred types.

If Angel could list several hundred combinations for each Magic Tattoo Horn, and from the nearly ten thousand combinations, select one that could be drawn on the armor to form a Magical Energy Array... Is that feasible?

Maybe it is, but the time it would consume would be way more than dozens of hours, possibly years or decades.

No matter how much time Angel has now, he couldn’t afford to waste it this way.

Moreover, if, after spending several years, he finally discovers that the pattern on the armor is just a simple ”defensive Magical Energy Array,” he might be so frustrated that he’d spit blood.

The likelihood of a defensive Magical Energy Array appearing on the chest plate of a knight’s armor is indeed quite high.

Recognizing this, he decisively halted his study.

Although Wizards would indeed study a topic for years, even decades or centuries, it is always in pursuit of deepening themselves or seeking the path to truth.

For such a goal, spending time is acceptable. But now, with the uncertain situation of the armor, there’s really no need to waste time here.

Angel decided to put aside the restoration of the fragmented magic pattern and return to it later when the opportunity arises.

With that, Angel went back to diving into his research on the green pattern.

...

Two days passed by in a flash.

At a certain moment, Angel suddenly closed his handbook, and simultaneously, a profound perception rose from his mind.

If this perception were expressed in words, it would be: ”Attention, the tagged one has entered the Wilderness of Dreams!”

The last time, after Angel left the Wilderness of Dreams, he slightly modified the permissions of the ”Gate of Dreams.” As long as Sanders entered the Wilderness of Dreams, he would be notified.

Now, according to feedback from the ”Gate of Dreams,” Sanders has entered the Wilderness of Dreams. This also indicates that the formula for bearing should have been calculated.

Since this concerns the issue of authority, whether Frode can withstand the new power or not, Angel definitely has to be there. So, without hesitation, he closed his handbook and entered the Dream Bridge.

When Angel arrived, Sanders glanced at him and said, ”You came just in time, the results of the bearing formula are out.”

Seated beside him, Frode’s expression suddenly became tense due to Sanders’ words.

Angel: ”Can he bear it?”

Sanders neither nodded nor shook his head: ”It’s hard to say. If it’s merely about overseeing the birth of plants, within the known range of variables, Frode should be able to bear it.”

”However, plants are a comprehensive term; there might be many specifics, and these specifics might contain some unknown variables. The threshold of these unknown variables, where they lie is hard to say. If the interference of the unknown variables on the result is considerable, then it’s hard to determine whether Frode can withstand it.”

Angel: ”So, this is still a fifty-fifty matter.”

Sanders nodded: ”Indeed, though the likelihood of success might be slightly higher. Because, as of now, there don’t seem to be many unknown variables.”

”If it’s a fifty-fifty situation, should Frode give it a try?”

Angel was asking Frode, but it was Sanders who answered him.

”He could give it a try.”

Under the gazes of Angel and Frode, Sanders quietly said: ”What I lack are the data on these unknown variables. Letting Frode give it a try might provide me with more accurate judgment.”

”Moreover, even if it fails, I have assessed the risks. The authority related to plants, once fed back to the Wilderness of Dreams, should influence it similarly to the Celestial Alternation.”

The Celestial Alternation is actually handed over to the will of the Wilderness of Dreams to control, its advantages are quite evident. Since humans manage it, it is not easy to make every nook and cranny of the Wilderness of Dreams detailed and exhaustive.

Of course, more advantages also mean there are more drawbacks.

Nevertheless, compared to the core power, such authority, even when fed back to the Wilderness of Dreams, has minimal impact on its future development prospects.
