Warlock Apprentice

Because the towering giant tree has emerged, it created multiple fault zones within thousands of miles. At this moment, a hundred miles from the Mother Tree, near a low valley formed by the fault zone, Angel and the others appeared.

”The words spoken by that tree just now, were they actually spoken by you?” Sanders inquired of Angel, though his tone was quite certain.

Angel nodded. Indeed, the last few sentences were uttered by him.

”There’s a strong sense of guiding intent. If they snap out of it and think deeply about the intentions within those words, it wouldn’t be hard to detect traces of deliberateness,” Sanders commented.

”The Dream Plant Fairy species is newly born. Even if they are innately intelligent, they’ll need time and experience to gain depth, so they won’t notice it for now.” In other words, this group of fairies still mostly thinks like blank slates, and it will likely take some time for them to grasp the deeper meaning. ”Even if they do notice the guiding traces, it wouldn’t matter; they might comply on the surface but cannot question their own mother.”

”While you’re around, you can manipulate the Tree Civilization to guide them. But what if you’re not in the Wilderness of Dreams?”

Sanders was implying that Angel could guide them once, but he couldn’t always be there to guide. What if due to negligence, the tree regained control of its speech?

This was also a concern for Frode.

Currently, Sanders used authority to limit the fairies’ power, which relieved Frode somewhat, as he no longer worried about the emergence of Wizard Level Dream Plant Fairies; still, the sheer number of fairies remains a huge hazard. For now, they are bluffed and may maintain a certain balance with humans, but what if in the future, Angel is not in the Wilderness of Dreams, and that tree takes back control over speech?

”It won’t happen,” Angel answered with certainty. ”Because it won’t do that.”

Faced with their doubts, Angel explained, ”The Mother Tree is the bearer of the Tree Civilization, a conglomeration of pseudo-consciousness; it is not a creature called ’Civilization.’ Therefore, no matter what the Dream Plant Fairy species does, or how far their civilization progresses, the Mother Tree will not interfere.”

”Even if their civilization perishes in the future, the Mother Tree can still birth another civilization.”

”The Dream Plant Fairy civilization is merely a choice of the Mother Tree while bearing the Tree Civilization.”

Angel’s words involved the height of civilization choice, which Frode did not immediately comprehend. However, Sanders understood.

The Tree Civilization is probably akin to a form of pan-consciousness conglomeration, somewhat similar to world consciousness, but not nearly at that height; it could be considered a form of: civilization will.

Just like Angel once mentioned the Continent of Yuantan, which harbors a similar pan-consciousness conglomeration, known as the continent’s will. Ordinarily, the continent’s will is nearly impossible to activate; even when the continent itself is desolate, the will of Yuantan remains calm as ever, until the continent is on the brink of collapse, at which point it responds to external information.

If the Mother Tree of the fairy species is similar to the continent’s will, then indeed there is no need to worry about it gaining control over speech again.

Because, most likely, the Mother Tree will no longer respond to any demands from the Dream Plant Fairy species.

Angel’s statement of ”consuming too much origin, it will slumber for a time” is actually non-existent. As long as Angel does not actively use the Mother Tree to contact the Dream Plant Fairies, the Mother Tree will remain perpetually dormant.

Sanders: ”If that’s the case, then there’s no need to worry about them discovering traces of guidance.” Moreover, due to the Mother Tree’s infrequent responses, they might take Angel’s previous words as their civilization’s direction and creed.

If so, the existence of the Dream Plant Fairies would significantly reduce damage to the Wilderness of Dreams. Instead, due to species diversity, this almost desolate world could quickly become vibrant.

Thinking of this, Frode no longer worried about the Dream Plant Fairies. Instead, he joked with Angel: ”Was it you who named the Dream Plant Fairies?”

”To be precise, I translated the name ’Dream Plant Fairy,’” Angel replied.

The Mother Tree had chosen the Dream Plant Fairy civilization as the first foundational stone of the ”Tree Civilization,” surely with relevant information existent. Angel accessed this information and learned the Mother Tree’s description of the civilization—fairies born within a dream of reality and fantasy.

Based on this sentence, Angel named them the Dream Plant Fairies.

”And the Mother Tree? Is its name translated by you too?” Sanders asked curiously.

Angel shook his head: ”The original name of the Mother Tree is—Civilization’s Mother Tree, the innate true name given to it by the Tree Civilization.”

All Dream Plant Fairies know the Mother Tree’s name from the moment of their birth, but they don’t address it by its true name; they affectionately call it Mother Tree, the Tree of their Mother.

As Angel and Sanders discussed names back and forth, Frode’s emotions were a mix of bittersweet feelings.

Seeing Angel and Sanders converse so easily, Frode, although still not comprehending Angel’s previous explanation, assumed there was no need to worry excessively about the Mother Tree wresting control of speech away.

With Angel’s guiding and Sanders’ energy level limitations, it seemed the Dream Plant Fairies could be controlled to some extent. However, Frode himself couldn’t overcome his internal barriers.

If it weren’t for his insistence that the Wilderness of Dreams become closer to reality by choosing an authority related to plants, none of this would have happened.

Guilt and remorse left Frode too ashamed to lift his head and look at Angel. He just kept his head down, silent.

Though Angel was conversing with Sanders, he noticed Frode’s mood.

He sighed inwardly; this incident was really not something to blame Frode for, moreover, he also desired the Wilderness of Dreams to approach reality to some extent.

Thus, even if not today, Angel would eventually plan for the Wilderness of Dreams to have forests and greenery.

Frode just happened to be at the right place at the right time. From start to finish, he did nothing wrong.

Angel understood that comforting Frode right now probably wouldn’t be effective, as he couldn’t cross his inner barrier. After considering, Angel chose not to speak with Frode but instead asked Sanders, ”What does Mentor think about the authority of Tree Civilization?”

Sanders: ”The authority of Tree Civilization, as you previously mentioned, isn’t particularly significant for the Wilderness of Dreams itself. However, it greatly impacts those living here.”

Because civilization doesn’t reflect much on individuals. But if it expands to groups, few civilizations coexist peacefully, with most being antagonistic.

There might even be civilization invasions.

This is what Frode fears most, that the people of Originheart City, even though they’ve become Dream Realm residents, still represent the offshoots of human civilization. How will they cope with the invasion of the Dream Plant Fairy civilization?
