Triple X System

The air inside the lower rifts of the Shifting Abyssal Trenches was thick enough to choke a normal human. It wasn’t just the dark grey smog; it was the absolute compression of dark energy. Kyle could feel the ambient pressure scraping against his skin, a constant, irritating friction that kept his invisible devil scales on high alert.

Elara followed closely behind him, her hands tucked neatly inside her cloak. She was moving with a careful, fluid grace, ensuring her boots made absolutely no sound against the jagged basalt floor. Her mana core was still dangerously low, but she had managed to patch up her spiritual stamina enough to keep her mental focus intact.

Kyle glanced at the translucent holographic mini-map floating in his peripheral vision. The decoded blueprint from the cracked crimson core fragment was a maze of intersecting subterranean maintenance ducts, localized patrol routes, and primary heavy-machinery rooms.

”The main patrol corridor is just through this fissure,” Kyle whispered, his voice vibrating at a frequency so low it was practically swallowed by the low drone of distant machinery. ”According to the grid, there are shifting automated sweeps every three minutes. We can bypass the primary guard post if we slip into the ventilation exhaust pipeline.”

Elara nodded, her sharp eyes studying the narrow vertical crack in the stone wall ahead. ”Stealth is our only option left, demon. My light spells are too loud, and your black hellfire lights up the entire canyon like a flare. If we trigger a localized base alarm before we even cross the perimeter threshold, they will simply flood these tunnels with hundreds of those ironwood-reinforced grunts.”

”I know the numbers, witch,” Kyle muttered, his jaw setting. ”I’m not looking to fight an army with a half-empty tank.”

He checked his current resource allocations. His Demon Energy was holding at 650 out of 2500, and his Shadow Energy was sitting at a tight 250 out of 1000. It wasn’t an ideal setup for a heavy engagement, but it was more than enough to maintain a localized concealment field if they kept their movements surgical.

Kyle stepped into the fissure first, his broad shoulders barely clearing the narrow stone walls. He channeled his core shadow ability, expending 100 Shadow Energy points to trigger his shadow walk.

”Shadow Walk.”

The darkness around the corners of the rift pulled inward, wrapping around his physical form and extending toward Elara like a protective cloak of fluid, ink-black silhouettes. To anyone passing by, they were nothing more than a trick of the dim light cast by the distant crimson security lamps. They glided through the narrow stone duct, navigating the damp, metallic pipelines that ran parallel to the main facility walls.

For ten minutes, the plan worked flawlessly. They slipped past two separate squads of the level 45 grunt-tier blood puppets. Kyle watched them through the slatted iron grates of the ventilation shafts—their pale, synthetic flesh stitched with precision, their horizontal slit nostrils sniffing the air erratically. But because Kyle and Elara were completely enclosed within the airtight metal pipeline, their biological blood scent was masked, leaving the constructs blindly marching along their pre-programmed paths.

But as they approached the intersection leading toward the secondary refinery sector, the system’s tracking radar suddenly glitched.

A sharp, static distortion rippled across Kyle’s internal interface, the green geometric lines of the map flashing a bright, cautionary yellow.

[Host, warning,] Snow’s voice rang sharply inside his skull, her tone laced with a sudden, localized alarm. [Anomalous entity detected directly beneath your current structural coordinates. It is not classified within the standard grunt-tier matrix, nor does it register as an elite unit. It is a biological tracking variant.]

Before Kyle could halt his forward momentum, the heavy iron plate beneath his boots violently buckled upward with a deafening metallic screech.

A massive, bloated appendage—a grotesque arm woven entirely from calcified muscle tissue, twisted rusted iron chains, and pulsing red veins—broke straight through the floor of the ventilation shaft. The raw physical force of the breach shattered the structural supports of the pipeline, causing the entire metal duct to collapse inward.

”Watch out!” Kyle roared, his instincts kicking in as the shadow walk instantly dissolved under the structural failure.

He lunged backward, grabbing Elara by the collar of her cloak and pulling her out of the falling debris just as a massive, heavy iron chunk of the ceiling crashed down onto the spot they had been standing on. They tumbled out of the broken pipeline, falling several meters downward before landing hard on the cold, solid concrete floor of a secondary drainage chamber.

Kyle scrambled back to his feet instantly, his right leg—permanently infused with the Abyssal Talon—automatically grounding his stance. He wiped a streak of dark dust from his forehead, his crimson eyes locking onto the entity that had just ambushed them.

It wasn’t an elite puppet, but it was far from a simple grunt.

Standing in the center of the shattered drainage chamber was a towering, three-meter-tall monstrosity. It looked like a grotesque amalgamation of multiple humanoid corpses fused together into a single, massive bipedal frame. Its entire torso was encased in a thick, crude suit of rusted iron plates that had been forcefully bolted directly into its pale flesh. Instead of standard eyes, it possessed a singular, oversized crimson lens embedded into the center of its stitched face, whirring and clicking like a mechanical camera.

The system text instantly flashed over its massive, bulked-out frame.

[TARGET INSPECTION: VLADIMIR’S SENTRY-TIER DETECTOR CONSTRUCT]

- Lineage: Synthetic Flesh Golem / Heavy Tracker.

- Level: 48

- Key Attributes: Strength: 290, Agility: 180, Durability: 340.

- Passive Trait [Iron Bolt Plating]: Immune to baseline physical damage ignore effects below 20%. Physical defense increased by 35%.

- Passive Trait [Acoustic Beacon]: Upon sustaining damage, the construct emits a high-frequency signal that alerts all nearby sectors within 500 meters.

Kyle’s heart hammered against his ribs as he processed the attributes. A durability stat of 340 combined with a 35% physical defense increase meant this thing was a literal walking wall of iron and flesh. But the most alarming part was the Acoustic Beacon trait. If they hit it, it would scream, and the entire facility would descend upon this drainage room within seconds.

”We can’t let it emit that signal,” Elara whispered frantically, her hands trembling as she pulled her defensive posture into focus. ”Kyle, look at the whirring mechanism beneath its jaw. That’s where the vocal cords have been augmented with a mechanical siren. If that whirring speeds up, the alarm triggers.”

The detector construct didn’t give them time to coordinate. Its oversized crimson lens clicked, locking directly onto Kyle’s demonic signature. With a heavy, thunderous roar that shook the concrete floor, it lunged forward. Despite its low Agility stat of 180, the sheer length of its stride allowed it to cross the chamber in a fraction of a second, raising its massive, chain-wrapped right fist to flatten Kyle into the floor.

”Get back, Elara!” Kyle barked, his eyes glowing a dangerous shade of crimson.

He didn’t have the shadow energy to craft a shield, so he had to rely entirely on his speed and physical modifiers. Leveraging the 15% movement speed boost from his abyssal leg, Kyle swerved to the left, narrowly evading the descending iron fist. The blow slammed into the concrete, completely pulverizing the solid floor and sending a massive shockwave of stone splinters flying through the air.

**[Passive Proc Triggered: Abyssal Reflex!]**

- 20% success rate achieved.

The moment the construct’s arm struck the ground, Kyle’s right leg reacted automatically. The Abyssal Talon manifest flared with a deep purple sheen, deploying a swift, spectral shadow claw strike that swiped upward against the creature’s exposed flank. The claw strike dealt 120% damage, the 25% physical defense ignore allowing the abyssal energy to cut through the 35% bonus protection of the iron plates.

*CRACK!*

The shadow claw tore a deep gash through the flesh beneath the armor, causing a stream of dark, coagulated blood to spray across the floor.

**[Passive Effect Applied: Hemorrhage initiated for 5 seconds.]**

**[Passive Effect Applied: Soul Rend (1 Stack)]**

The construct let out a low, distorted grunt of frustration, but the physical pain didn’t slow it down. The whirring mechanism beneath its jaw suddenly began to rotate at an alarming velocity, emitting a low, vibrating hum that was slowly climbing in pitch. The acoustic beacon was initializing.

”It’s starting the alarm!” Elara yelled. ”Kyle, the jaw! Break the mechanical array before the frequency peaks!”

Elara didn’t have the mana to blast it with an energy beam, but she skillfully manipulated her remaining resources. She thrust her hands downward, channeling a localized light ray directly into the concrete beneath the golem’s feet. ”Light Ray: Friction Blend!”

The sudden flash of positive-polarity light didn’t harm the beast’s armor, but it instantly melted the thin layer of slime and moisture coating the drainage floor, turning the concrete beneath the construct’s massive boots into an incredibly slick, frictionless surface. The three-meter monster suddenly lost its traction, its massive weight causing it to slip and tilt backward, its tracking lens spinning wildly as it struggled to maintain its balance.

The sudden imbalance momentarily disrupted the whirring siren mechanism in its jaw.

”Perfect timing, witch!” Kyle yelled.
