Triple X System

The words hit him like a physical blow. Ever since he had arrived on this planet, every piece of information—from Snow’s data streams to Vladimir’s apocalyptic plans—indicated that Kraken was a dead end. It was a terminal anomaly, a corrupted, bleeding rock destined to be harvested for billions of souls to feed a dead God. The concept of life returning to this world, of the dark energy being purged to restore natural flora and fauna, was something he had never even considered possible.

The low-tier creatures continued to murmur in reverent tones around the fire, but Kyle had heard more than enough.

Slipping backward into the deep shadows of the ridge, he deactivated his Shadow Walk, his mind racing with a million new questions as he navigated the dark terrain back to the basalt cavern. He stepped inside the narrow entrance, tossing the leather pouch of Lunar Mist Snails onto the stone floor with a dull thud.

He stared intently at the horned deer insignia on his hand, his crimson eyes burning with a dangerous intensity.

”You knew,” Kyle said aloud to the empty, quiet cave. ”You knew they were baiting those monsters to find you. What exactly are you trying to accomplish on this planet?”

The cavern remained completely silent, the deer choosing to remain buried deep within his core, leaving Kyle alone with the weight of a changing war. At that exact moment, a soft, groaning sound came from the corner of the cave. Elara’s fingers twitched against the dirt, her eyes slowly beginning to flutter open.

Kyle picked up one of the silver-shelled Lunar Mist Snails, his thumbs cleanly popping the uncorrupted creature from its luminescent casing. He placed it over a small, localized ember of his level 1 Dark Flames, burning away the residual moisture until the rich, mana-dense meat was perfectly seared. The scent that filled the basalt cave was surprisingly clean—entirely free of the foul, metallic rot that usually characterized Kraken’s flora and fauna.

He didn’t look up as a sharp, ragged gasp echoed from the far corner of the cavern.

Elara sat up abruptly, her back slamming against the smooth basalt wall. Her hand instantly flew to her throat, her eyes widening in sheer bewilderment as she felt the unnatural surge of vitality coursing through her veins. The 3-week life crystal blessing was actively pulsing inside her chest, creating an invisible, impenetrable barrier against the planet’s toxic dark energy. Yet, the moment her gaze landed on Kyle, her expression turned entirely hostile.

”Get away from me, demon,” she hissed, her voice raw and laced with venom. She tried to channel a kinetic push through her fingers, but her hands merely sputtered with a few pathetic, dying grey sparks. Her mana core was completely empty, bone-dry from her last-ditch effort against the Nabuyak.

”If I wanted you dead, I wouldn’t have wasted my time cooking,” Kyle said calmly, his tone completely flat. He picked up a wooden shard lined with three perfectly prepared snails and tossed it across the cave floor, landing right at her feet. ”Eat. It’s Lunar Mist Snail. It’s completely uncorrupted. It’ll jumpstart your mana core so you aren’t completely helpless.”

Elara stared at the food with intense suspicion, her stomach betraying her with a loud, aggressive rumble. She glared at Kyle for several long seconds before her survival instincts finally won. She snatched the wooden shard and forced herself to chew. The moment the mana-rich food hit her system, a soft, audible sigh escaped her lips. A faint, healthy color returned to her cheeks, the micro-bursts of kinetic energy around her lower limbs settling into a resting state.

Kyle watched her finish before he leaned forward, his crimson eyes locking onto hers with absolute focus. ”Now that you’re fed, let’s return to our previous conversation. You know Yua. Where is she?”

Elara set the wooden shard down, her guard still completely up as she maintained a considerable distance. ”I don’t know where she is *right now*,” she replied, her voice cold but lacking its previous frantic panic. She leaned back, crossing her arms defensively. ”But I knew her. I met her exactly a month back, out in the shifting valleys of the lower sector.”

Kyle’s chest tightened, his fists clenching instinctively. ”Go on.”

”We traveled together for a short time,” Elara said, her gaze drifting toward the cave entrance as if recalling a memory. ”It only lasted about two weeks before we parted ways. She wasn’t like the other wanderers who accidentally tumble onto Kraken. She was deliberate. She told me she was on a targeted journey to find something specific... something she called the *Heart of Kraken*.”

The moment the words *Heart of Kraken* left Elara’s lips, the jet-black and crimson insignia of the horned deer on Kyle’s left hand violently shuddered.

The tattoo didn’t just throb; it vibrated fiercely, emitting a localized wave of blistering heat that caused Kyle to sharp-gasp, clutching his wrist as the skin flared a brilliant, angry red. The soul bond thrummed with a sudden, chaotic spike of panic and ancient authority from the parasite nesting inside him.

*’Hey!’* Kyle roared inwardly, his mental voice slamming against the walls of his consciousness. *’What is that? What the hell is the Heart of Kraken, and why are you reacting like that? Speak to me!’*

The Rootcrystal Deer’s telepathic response came after a long, suffocating silence, its usual smooth, arrogant chuckle entirely absent. *’Do not seek knowledge that will dissolve your sanity before your evolution is realized, student,’* the beast refused flatly, its voice echoing with a grim, chilling finality. *’The girl has threaded an incredibly dangerous path. A path lined with primordial concepts that could permanently eliminate her very existence from the cosmic ledger. If she is chasing the Heart... she is already walking among the dead.’*

*’Tell me more!’* Kyle demanded, pushing his will to its absolute limit, but the deer went completely silent, retreating deep into the dark corners of his soul core and locking the bond down.

Kyle exhaled a shaky breath, forcing his hand to stop trembling as he smoothed his features back into a calm mask. He looked back at Elara, who was watching his sudden physical reaction with a furrowed brow.

”A month out here...” Kyle murmured, shifting the topic to clear his head. ”How exactly were you able to survive on a terminal anomaly planet like Kraken for an entire month without an environmental suit? The dark energy density alone should have liquefies your internal organs within days.”

Elara rolled her eyes sarcastically, letting out a sharp, mocking scoff. ”Isn’t it obvious, Demon Lord? I’m a witch. My core is naturally attuned to parsing spiritual frequencies, even the foul ones.”

Kyle wasn’t impressed. His eyes narrowed to razor slits, his commanding aura flaring just enough to make the air inside the cave grow heavy again. ”Don’t play games with me. Witchcraft has limits. A baseline human core cannot filter Kraken’s baseline corruption for thirty consecutive days without external assistance. Tell me the truth.”

Elara shut her mouth tight, turning her face away in a stubborn, silent refusal to speak.

Kyle’s mind raced. For a split second, the idea of using his *Eyes of Truth* popped up in his thoughts. With his 245 Will stat, he could easily unleash his commanding influence to force her into a trance, stripping her mind of every secret she was hiding. He could make her talk.

But as he stared at her defiant posture, he hesitated.

*Sure, I can force her to talk,* Kyle reasoned internally. *But Yua’s precise current coordinates are still completely unknown. It’s one thing to know her previous location from two weeks ago, and it’s another entirely to navigate this shifting, monstrous planet to find her.*

From what he had seen in his previous blackout vision, Elara wasn’t just an ordinary survivor—she was deeply, fundamentally attuned with Kraken and its dark nature. She knew the safe paths, the territorial boundaries of the Nabuyak packs, and the hidden anomalies of the terrain. Finding Yua wouldn’t just require a set of coordinates; it would require Elara’s active guidance and instincts. He couldn’t just dominate her mind and turn her into a mindless puppet. He needed her to willingly navigate. He didn’t need to gain her trust—demons didn’t trust—but he needed her *acknowledgment*. And that would require a tactical approach far more complex than just brute force or spiritual suppression.

Kyle slowly let his aura recede, the suffocating weight vanishing from the cavern. He leaned back on his stone seat, exhaling a long, measured breath.

”Thank you,” Kyle said, his voice dropping into a quiet, genuine register that sounded entirely foreign coming from his demonic appearance.

Elara froze for a fraction of a second. She blinked, her head snapping back around to stare at him in utter disbelief. ”What did you just say?”

”I said thank you,” Kyle repeated, keeping his gaze steady. ”For helping Yua survive out here. For keeping her safe during those two weeks. I know what this planet is. I know what it takes to survive it. So... thank you.”

For a moment, the tension in the cave completely melted away. Elara stared at him, her lips parting slightly as her hostile demeanor faltered under the unexpected weight of his gratitude.

Then, her shoulders began to tremble.

A second later, she burst out into a loud, frantic, and entirely unhinged fit of laughter. The echoes bounced off the basalt walls, filled with a wild, hysterical irony that made Kyle’s blood run cold. She laughed until tears welled up in the corners of her eyes, clutching her stomach as she pointed a trembling finger at him.

”You... you think *I* helped her?!” Elara managed to choke out between gasps of laughter, her expression twisting into a mask of pure, mocking amusement. ”Oh, you stupid, arrogant demon lord. You have it completely backward!”

Kyle’s posture stiffened, a sudden, terrible sense of dread locking his joints in place. ”What do you mean?”

Elara’s laughter abruptly ceased. She wiped a tear from her eye, her expression turning dead serious, her gaze dropping an absolute, world-shattering bombshell straight into his chest.

”It was infact Yua who helped *me*,” Elara revealed, her voice dropping into a chilling whisper that echoed like a death knell in the small cave. ”I was the one dying of dark energy corruption a month ago. I was the one rotting from the inside out. Yua found me. She was the one who provided the specialized, high-tier potions I needed to stabilize my mana core and survive the atmosphere.”

She leaned forward, her eyes locking onto Kyle’s widening pupils, delivering the final, crushing blow.

”And she didn’t need a suit, Kyle. Because when I met her... Yua was already a vampire.”

*THUD.*

Kyle felt the ground completely drop out from beneath his feet. His entire body turned a stark, deathly pale white from pure, unadulterated shock. His breath caught entirely in his throat, his heart hammering against his ribs like a trapped animal. *A vampire? Yua... a vampire?*

The girl he had lost, the woman he was tearing the universe apart to find—she had been transformed into the exact same monstrous, blood-drinking species as Vladimir. The very lineage of the adversary he had sworn to obliterate.
