Project status: Termination

Core error: I tried to replace the passage of time with loops, and farewells with eternity.

Thanks to all players.

The flickering characters begin to slowly dissipate.

”Lu Mingxuan... What have you done? What do you mean by project status terminated?” Wen Xishu was shocked.

The entire scene suddenly began to shake.

If you stand outside the Infinite Building, the whole building begins to shake, as if facing collapse.

”I... have been a ’program’ for too long, this time, I want to be a person.”

”I actually saw my ending a long time ago, being killed by Scorpio, or becoming a tool for the New World.”

”I also tried modifying my content, but no matter what, I couldn’t avoid that fate.”

”I always complained, why my game, no matter how I operate it, always has only one ending...”

”Now I realize that it turns out... It turns out that I abandoned the right approach myself. The game was not designed wrong... but I was wrong.”

Wen Xishu still had the same question:

”Damn it, what exactly have you done, why does your status look off?”

Yes, Lu Mingxuan’s state looked really bad.

His body presented a pixelated flicker, arms, eyebrows, palms, hair... occasionally showing unreadable garbled codes.

”To become human again... I have to pay some price.”

”Wen Xishu, I’ve thought for a long time, I finally know, what was the best game I’ve ever played...”

”It was the times spent with Mom and Dad, the times I lived with those who longed to be alive in the apocalypse…”

”I can no longer experience all of this, but you’re right, they will always remain beautiful in my memories.”

Inside the building, Kelly, Bruce Long, the handsome goblin... these NPCs defeated by Wen Xishu.

All reverted to their original selves.

Kelly... or rather Maeve, suddenly felt all the shackles limiting her actions disappear.

All the game rules vanished.

At this moment, she felt very happy.

But somehow, looking at the suddenly appeared developer log, reading Lu Mingxuan’s sentence ”Thanks to all players, especially those who played to the end with me”, she felt a faint sense of sadness.

She knew Wen Xishu succeeded, as the game player, Wen Xishu defeated the Demon King at the top of the tower.

But... does this log imply, the Demon King also has his own story?

Maeve wanted to wait together with Wen Xishu, she was so eager to hear Wen Xishu talk about how he defeated the Demon King.

And properly thank Wen Xishu, but the building kept shaking.

Maeve sensed that this place was about to vanish.

”Damn, just like in the movie, after defeating the Demon King, the demon lair would follow and collapse!”

The building trembled more violently, Maeve knew there was no time to wait.

She saw many people escaping from here.

”No matter, that guy since he can pass the level, must be much stronger than me, I’ll wait for him outside!”

Outside of Infinite Building.

The An Family Brothers looked in amazement at the distant view.

To be precise, at this moment it was not just the An Family Brothers, but the entire Deep City, feeling the violent tremors.

”Really... someone actually defeated the master of the building?” An Jincheng found it hard to believe.

”Brother, Old Hu! I see Old Hu!”

An Youxuan nodded:

”Luckily, Old Hu is okay.”

”Unbelievable, this building seems to be the strangest thing recently, with no way out but suddenly it’s about to collapse. Brother, we have to ask Old Hu later about what’s going on.” An Jincheng was full of excitement.

Many people emerged from the building.

Some of these people were very weak, but some were very strong, including a few from Red House.

The collapse of the Infinite Building was indeed the biggest sensation in Deep City recently.

The lights of the building were continuously extinguishing.

Layer by layer, like small game worlds being deleted.

Only a certain layer remained lit, but that light was also unstable, flickering like the last heartbeat on a dying man’s EEG.

It was the level where Wen Xishu and Lu Mingxuan were.

”I guess this counts as... completely betraying Lord Scorpio…”

”So... I will pay some price. But I do not regret it.”

Lu Mingxuan, whose body kept pixelating and glitching, could no longer stand, he finally fell but was quickly held by Wen Xishu.

Death finally was about to descend upon this child afraid of farewells.

Wen Xishu did not expect that the price of this true ending would be like this.

Although the task was to kill the Obsessed one, Wen Xishu had already achieved this step, of course he hoped Lu Mingxuan could become ”normal” rather than offsetting obsession by dying.

”No... It shouldn’t be like this, that damn Scorpio, what kind of draconian clause is this, turning people into a game, how can paying such a price be required to turn back!”

”Scorpio! Come out here!”

Wen Xishu shouted loudly.

He actually had a strong temperament, having seen too many unfortunates in the apocalypse.

And even violently, ended many Obsessed ones.

He would not easily have pity for anyone. But for some reason, this time he was still angry.

”No... no need... I don’t want to be a game anymore, I finally made a decision.”

Lu Mingxuan struggled to smile.

Wen Xishu wanted to continue the conversation with Scorpio, he knew Scorpio could certainly establish communication with him.

But Lu Mingxuan said:

”Life always has farewells... I just accepted this fact... Don’t... overturn your own words.”
