Three Towers Game

Chapter 1473: Chapter 472: The Times Have Changed_2

The receptionist smiled and waved at Wen Xishu.

The elevator doors opened.

The inside of the elevator was very spacious, occupying an area of ten square meters.

As Wen Xishu entered the elevator, he felt a slight dizziness in his mind. He paused for a moment, and the dizziness faded away.

An eerie fatigue arose from within. Looking at the scene in front of him, it felt oddly familiar.

No... not just somewhat familiar, but a clear feeling that he had seen this before.

[Game starts, please choose your initial weapon for this round.]

Wen Xishu instinctively walked to the box beside the weapon rack, opened the box, and a weapon styled like an AK47 appeared.

”So there was a gun?”

As the saying goes, Yang Family spear, Yue Family spear, neither is as good as a hand gun.

Wen Xishu hadn’t expected that in a room displaying various weapons from the cold weapon era... there would be an AK47.

Of course, the name of this gun wasn’t AK47, but was called Era Changed 7.62.

”The name is so familiar; I’ve definitely seen it before. I must have played this game more than once.”

”Looks like when you die in the game, it restarts... but I can’t remember. It just feels very familiar...”

”There’s a strong sense of déjà vu.”

”It always feels like my previous death was related to this thing...”

Wen Xishu picked up the Era Changed 7.62. He looked at its attributes.

The attributes indicate that this gun has a 40% chance to immediately take away 25% of the enemy’s max life value upon a headshot.

Of course, if you hit a vital part, there’s also a 5% chance to directly erase 15% of the enemy’s life value.

Additionally, the weapon comes with a high amount of base damage.

But it requires ammunition. Picking up the weapon unlocks the drop of 7.62 caliber bullets.

”That being said, even without bullets, using this as a melee weapon isn’t bad.”

”If I’m not wrong, I probably died of gunfire, resulting in starting with a firearm weapon...”

”Hmm, this must be a new thing, let’s try it.”

Wen Xishu’s familiarity with the game was noticeably stronger than last time.

He picked up the weapon and quickly started the first level.

...

...

In the pixel forest, watching the guy in overalls sink into the pipe from a distance, Wen Xishu once again confirmed that he had seen this scene before.

”But it’s not enough... I need to see the scene first, before I can remember seeing it.”

”And it’s only a familiar feeling piling up that makes me certain I’ve seen and experienced this.”

”I need to be stronger; if only I could proactively recall the things I’ve experienced.”

Soon, Wen Xishu encountered a very good-looking goblin again.

”Damn, why would a goblin need to be so high on looks?”

The goblin didn’t expect to see Wen Xishu again so soon.

The interval from meeting Wen Xishu this time made it somewhat disappointed.

”Previously, he would always last a long time before restarting. I overestimated him this time.”

”Since that’s the case, he’s not the one I’m waiting for. Forget it, let’s kill him!”

The goblin decided to go all out; its speed and power seemed even faster than when fighting Wen Xishu last time.

But... sir, the era has changed.

When the pitch-black gun barrel was pointed at the goblin, the goblin of course recognized what it was.

”Damn!”

It immediately activated the clone technique.

This time, while Wen Xishu was deeply submerged in the state of searching for memory, he finally guessed proactively:

”You’re planning to use the clone technique just like before, right?”

Huh?

The handsome goblin’s clone technique was suddenly interrupted by Wen Xishu’s words.

”How does he know?”

The goblin gradually revealed a shocked expression.

After all, usually it would be the one saying these kinds of lines:

”You’re doing the same thing as before again, xxx?”

That’s supposed to be the NPC’s line.

The era really has changed.

With a bang, Wen Xishu fired a shot, seizing the hesitation in the goblin’s movements, and headshot it before its clone technique could trigger.

Headshot effect triggered.

Plus the base damage, the boss of the first level, this handsome goblin, was taken out with one shot.

”You... you’ve changed, you’ve become different, how did you know I was going to use the clone technique?”

Wen Xishu laughed:

”What do you mean, it’s obvious I’m not playing this game for the first time.”

The goblin’s eyes were filled with disbelief.

But in the end, before its body completely decayed, it also laughed:

”Good luck... I guess I won’t see you again?”

”Take us away from here!”

The goblin died.

Or rather, died again.

As usual, Wen Xishu achieved the no-damage goblin feat, earning 25 basic gold coins and two strength potions.

And one option out of three choices.

[No-damage reward, please select one from the following rewards.]

[1: Unknown fragment. Nobody knows its effect. It might be worthless.]

[2: Weapon upgrade, gaining additional entries, entry rarity is tied to one’s luck value, luck value acquisition method is up to exploration.]

[3: Skill upgrade - your headshot effect trigger probability increases to 50 percent.]

Wen Xishu naturally also saw the previous ”translation”, while gazing at the skill column, Wen Xishu received the information, he needed to find the ”memory fragment”.

But this time... he didn’t immediately choose the fragment.

”What I need is the memory fragment.”

”According to what the goblin said, if I complete the level, I can take them away?”

”Obviously, he is likely a player, and also quite good-looking type.”

”So can I infer - if I fail a certain number of times, I will become a boss on some level like the goblin?”

”In roguelike games, players can reduce difficulty through repeated gameplay, on one hand by unlocking extra attributes, on the other by becoming familiar with the levels.”

”But this game clearly erases player memories...”

”Thus I can’t recall a lot of things, only I am certain I participated in the game.”

”If I want to embody this feature - if I’m a gamer, I wouldn’t set memory fragments.”

”In other words, damn Scorpion Knife was tricked, Scorpio was fooled.”

”It thought there would be memory fragments in this game.”

After Wen Xishu’s ”sense of loop” was strengthened, in an extremely short time, he came to the complete conclusion of the previous round.

”In other words, if Scorpio made the game, it wouldn’t be so low quality. If Scorpio made the game, at least it would ensure players have play memories, and so Scorpion Knife also thought there should be memory fragments in this game.”

”But the gamer obviously took shortcuts and emptied players’ play memories to avoid them disliking its game.”

”This behavior is indeed effective, players feel like they’re playing for the first time each time, but... it does infringe on players’ rights.”

”Looking at it this way, Scorpio turned out to be the one with a conscience.”

”Tsk tsk.”

After Wen Xishu’s analysis, he avoided the previous round’s choice.

He decided to choose weapon strengthening.

”Since there’s weapon strengthening... then most likely, there will be an NPC to enhance the weapon, right?”

As soon as Wen Xishu finished his thoughts, the elevator doors opened.

Then, he saw that familiar face.

Kelly’s smile wasn’t so sweet, she looked a bit stiff as she watched Wen Xishu.

Beside her was a huge machine that looked like a furnace.

Seeing Wen Xishu, Kelly gradually became somewhat impatient and disappointed:

”Hi, lad, your gear is really cool. And, you’re really fast, so eager to have our ’first encounter’, huh?”

Like the handsome goblin’s thoughts, Kelly was also surprised at how quickly this Wen Xishu ”shadow disappeared again”.

Although it showed a certain ”talent”, you can’t play games being too bad.

Kelly was really disappointed.

So patience decreased too, the disappointment in her eyes quickly concealed, becoming more mechanical:

”You just got some currency, right? Want me to upgrade your equipment?”

She had already given up hope.

But Wen Xishu suddenly spoke:

”You... let me think, is there something tricky about your strengthening? Is it the kind where players have to pay gold coins, but also bear their own risk of strengthening failure?”

”You are... Kelly!”

Kelly was astonished.

Compared to the handsome goblin’s surprise, Kelly this time was clearly more exhilarated.

Because for the first time, she was proactively called by her name before she introduced herself.

This was simply unbelievable!
