Three Towers Game

Chapter 1474: Chapter 473: Advancing Triumphantly

”You... how do you know my name?”

Actually, Wen Xishu was kind of blank.

Because in Wen Xishu’s past life, under a certain penguin company, there was also a fun, casual, non–pay-to-win game, with an NPC who adored players’ gear, named Kelly.

Sometimes, things just happen to line up like this.

But Wen Xishu did in fact figure out the trap behind this gear enhancement.

Wen Xishu said:

”We’re old acquaintances, aren’t we? Do you really need to probe me like this?”

He realized the NPCs looked surprised because he was familiar with them.

So, in their eyes, he actually shouldn’t be familiar with them. He ought to feel like they were strangers.

Because his memory had been wiped.

But precisely because of that, he had to act familiar; that might make them think more highly of him and offer some extra help.

Wen Xishu had no doubt — his guess was right.

Kelly was suddenly fired up.

The helplessness and disappointment in her eyes vanished completely.

”You... okay, there are things I can’t say, but you’re right. We’re friends, don’t worry, I can help you enhance your gear, and it won’t damage it.”

”You picked Weapon Enhancement as your reward last round. This kind of reward-type enhancement doesn’t have any side effects.”

”Come on, give me your gun.”

Kelly blinked at Wen Xishu, her eyes fluttering.

Wen Xishu could clearly feel the atmosphere getting much more cheerful.

He tossed his weapon to Kelly.

”How about some extra intel? I can’t remember, you know I lose my memories.”

”Of course, I also know you guys can’t talk about the memories I’ve lost, but... I can actually remember a bit myself. Not long ago I went through a death. Died a bit fast, but the death should’ve meant something, so betting on me isn’t wrong.”

From the goblin and Kelly’s expressions before and after, Wen Xishu was certain that when they first saw him, they were disappointed.

But once he showed some kind of talent, they perked up again.

Thinking it over briefly, Wen Xishu more or less guessed that he probably died a bit too quickly.

Kelly said:

”You... can even sense how long you lasted before dying last round?”

Wen Xishu said:

”Is that supposed to be hard or something?”

Kelly was stunned.

This kid was so different from last round; last time he was like a total rookie.

Though she had noticed that even last round he seemed way more familiar with things than the other Challengers.

But this round...

It was like he’d been reborn.

Looks like he traded death for something, huh?

This was unheard of. Could it be he triggered a hidden quest?

Had to be.

Kelly was getting more and more shocked.

After all, triggering a hidden quest is, with high probability, something you do in the first round.

The other Challengers basically just replay their first round afterward.

But Wen Xishu had clearly only triggered it after failing several times.

That was enough to prove that he really could act in ways that break free from his previous-round trajectory.

”Awesome, you’re awesome. Here, your weapon!”

Wen Xishu took back his weapon.

His 7.62 ”The Times They Are A-Changin’” had actually turned into blue quality now.

It had gained a new affix.

[Silencer: Your bullets now deal 25% less damage, but will no longer make any sound at all.]

Pretty good. If he could boost its damage, strengthen it up to sniper rifle level...

Wouldn’t that mean he could go full long-range assassination build?

Silently take out some electronic eye, then silently dispatch a guard...

That way he could clear the Stealth Level.

”Nice work, Kelly. Our partnership is always this pleasant. But I hope you don’t mind my time of death. Sometimes, you should know, I’m not the type to fail in a short amount of time.”

”I held out through a lot of stages before that.”

All of this was Wen Xishu guessing, but he was right.

Kelly nodded too, thinking Wen Xishu really could remember these things.

Wen Xishu grinned:

”If I die quickly, it’s definitely because I found something interesting, something that makes the death feel worth it.”

”Enough talk, time for me to head to the third floor.”

Kelly’s heart was pounding.

It was the first time she’d seen such a cool player, like he was trampling the rules underfoot.

”He actually might be able to pull this off!”

...

...

Third floor.

This round was almost a perfect rerun of the last one.

Wen Xishu reached the third floor in no time.

Kelly even forgot to remind Wen Xishu not to be fooled by the mirrors.

But when Wen Xishu saw those mirrors, he already had memories surfacing in his mind.

They’re back. All back.

The mirrors on both sides of the corridor weren’t static: at fixed intervals, all the mirrors would ripple at once, like stones thrown into water.

After the ripples, the reflections inside would change subtly.

Those changes were all things Wen Xishu had been through.

Wen Xishu also realized that the things in these mirrors were inviting him in.

But they were all death traps.

”The scenes in these mirrors are clearly from later floors. If I go in now, I’ll die for sure.”

”So all of these are wrong answers. There has to be an option that matches the current difficulty.”

Thinking along those lines, Wen Xishu quickly found the mirror with a crack hidden in it.

Then, someone identical to Wen Xishu, but like a corrupted, blackened version of him, jumped out of the mirror.

Everything was pretty much what Wen Xishu had expected.

”You again! You...” Dark Wen Xishu hadn’t finished speaking when Wen Xishu cut him off immediately:

”Idiot, right?”

Wen Xishu raised his hand and fired, because the dark version of him was also holding a gun.

If the enemy has ”The Times They Are A-Changin’” too, you’d better make sure his times change first.
