Three Towers Game

The chess game continues.

Wen Xishu suddenly began to retract his pieces back to their original positions.

Lu Mingxuan seemed to understand what Wen Xishu wanted to do.

He stared blankly at Wen Xishu. At this moment, no data could help him deduce the next outcome.

He only offered Wen Xishu two outcomes, making Wen Xishu, as a gamer, have only two options: victory and defeat.

But at this precise moment, Wen Xishu seemed to have found a third outcome.

No... not just three, perhaps countless.

Because in life, nothing is predetermined.

As if driven by a supernatural force, he began to make retractions that did not align with the optimal solution.

The two of them, like old friends who just finished a game, tacitly reset the board.

”One more game.”

”This time, no revivals, no unfair rules.”

”Just you and me, playing a game.”

”Just like... many years ago, when you always hoped someone would play with you like that.”

”And don’t say you can’t draw an Invitation Card, let’s abolish that rule. From today, I’m your friend.”

A tear fell onto the chessboard, something this board had never felt before.

Lu Mingxuan suddenly felt a bit dazed. Memories from the past began to flood in.

He seemed to have returned to a busy afternoon.

”I always feel... you, the leader, are a rather reserved person, not someone who’s very good at talking.”

”If I had to say why... it’s because I often see a timid look in your eyes, which reminds me of my brother.”

”He wasn’t good at talking either, but he would silently give everything to protect me... I miss him.”

”He’s gone... the apocalypse is truly terrifying, thank you for letting us survive.”

This was a conversation Lu Mingxuan had in the post-apocalyptic world, before being brainwashed by the teachers.

He certainly wasn’t someone good at talking.

But because of the dialogue window, he always gave the impression of having strong expressive skills.

But that time... he actually wanted to ask about his brother.

But ironically, the dialogue window contained only other content.

He wanted to comfort that person, that even though his brother was gone, the one who bore his brother’s love must live well.

He wanted to speak his own words, but... there was no such option.

Because of his fear of social interaction and his proficiency in gaming, he turned himself into a game, which indeed allowed him to find the opportunity to prove his worth.

But unknowingly... he became trapped by the singular outcomes in the game.

That’s how games are, the endings are predetermined; no matter how you play, no matter how many different routes you take in one place, no matter how many times you talk to one person...

Nothing is destined to change.

So... it was actually himself who was wrong.

When his parents chose gaming as a means to make friends because of love, he should have chosen to do the right but more challenging thing, to try to change himself and make friends in real life.

When Scorpio granted him gaming powers, he should have chosen to preserve his ability to speak... at least in expressing his intentions, he should’ve acted on his own will, rather than treating it like a multiple-choice question and picking dialogue options that satisfied him.

Life is difficult, and wrongness and distortion are indeed more than in the game, but also because of this, living the right life is the only proper way to live.

He was wrong indeed.

More and more tears fell onto the chessboard. More and more erroneous moves appeared in the chess game.

”I am the only ruler in this game of mine. I always believed that I could edit a perfect ending in the game, but... I have never independently chosen the ending of my life.”

”At least... there should be one time when I act like a person. At least I should let my parents know I’ve grown up, that I don’t need to rely on games anymore.”

These emotions, Wen Xishu couldn’t view through the Spiritual Bullet Screen due to his abilities being disabled.

But he saw a kind of courage in Lu Mingxuan’s eyes.

Wen Xishu silently watched, without speaking.

He was waiting for a transformation.

He knew Lu Mingxuan could undoubtedly do it.

”Wen Xishu... thank you, I don’t want to lose you as a friend.”

He longed to say this.

But he couldn’t articulate it, because this wasn’t part of Lu Mingxuan’s pre-set program.

He had a thousand scripts to choose from, such as mocking Wen Xishu, persuading Wen Xishu, complimenting Wen Xishu... but never thought he would feel grateful to Wen Xishu.

The determination in Lu Mingxuan’s eyes grew stronger, and at this moment, he finally exploded with an aura of ”none can surpass me”.

The endlessly looping Skyscraper began to tremble slightly.

The obsessions twisted by ”education” were completely dismantled due to the arrival of a new friend and those thunderous words.

”I... am very grateful to you, Wen Xishu, I don’t want to lose you as a friend.”

Lu Mingxuan finally rigidly expressed these words using his identity as Lu Mingxuan instead of as a gamer.

And in saying this, he also paid a price.

Wen Xishu originally wanted to respond, knowing that he might indeed have achieved a true ending outside the preset program.

But he abruptly froze.

”I’m sorry, I made a mistake, I hurt many people... I will let them all leave this place.”

Lu Mingxuan smiled.

Wen Xishu saw a piece of special text.

It was an emergency command generated, presented in a developer log format.

Simply put, it went roughly like this:
