Three Towers Game

Chapter 44: Chapter 37: Material Department

Wen Xishu hung up the phone shortly after the call ended, having covered everything he needed to.

Albert Napolitano said:

”Hmm, it seems you’re quite busy. I’m looking forward to your performance this afternoon. Also, make sure not to tell anyone you’ve seen me.”

Albert Napolitano was a very mysterious person; a large part of this mystery was that no one knew where he was.

Wen Xishu asked:

”Can I learn anything from the courses at Slaughter Tower Academy?”

Albert burst out laughing:

”Hahahaha, those kids can teach you some fighting skills, but it’s not very useful. Listen to me, kid, you’re different from them. You can take the courses, but don’t value them too much.”

”You’re going to follow the path Wen Chaohua once took.”

Wen Xishu was stunned:

”Wen Chaohua... also explored the Deceit Tower? Why is his name unknown?”

Albert replied:

”Because his Three Towers ID wasn’t Wen Chaohua. Only a few people knew his ID. So even though he’s quite high on the Celestial Ladder List... you get it, right?”

Wen Xishu instantly understood.

Wen Chaohua used another name and acted low-key, so while Wenren Mirror and Xun Hui became famous, he remained obscure.

After all, people love discussing the top ten, top five, top three.

Of course, Wenren Mirror and Xun Hui’s Three Towers codenames aren’t their real names either, but they were exposed.

Wen Xishu then asked:

”So Wen Chaohua... what rank is he on the Celestial Ladder List?”

Albert shook his head:

”It’s been a long time. I’ve forgotten. You need to ask the guide, but I remember he’s ranked somewhere in the twenties on the Slaughter Tower list.”

Wen Xishu felt a slight pang of disappointment.

To him, Wen Chaohua might not be as superior as Xun Hui and Wenren Mirror, but should still be in the top ten of the Celestial Ladder List.

Someone who the Security Bureau cares about shouldn’t be mediocre. Though the top 100 on the Celestial Ladder List are exceptional, Wen Xishu still thought Wen Chaohua’s ranking was low.

Albert added:

”He didn’t specialize in one tower. He started with the Slaughter Tower, then found it boring, moved to the Deceit Tower, and later became interested in the Desire Tower.”

”His ranks in Slaughter Tower and Desire Tower are the same, but Deceit Tower... Deceit Tower doesn’t have a Celestial Ladder List. If it did, he’d probably be number one.”

Wen Xishu’s mouth slightly opened, unable to hide his surprise.

He knew Deceit Tower didn’t have a Celestial Ladder List, because forming a list required a substantial number of explorers.

Less than ten thousand climbers cannot construct a Celestial Ladder List.

Humanity’s exploration of the Deceit Tower was still too little.

Wen Xishu didn’t expect Wen Chaohua to be one of the rare ”triple degree doctors.”

He immediately felt... relieved.

”Deceit Tower can add credits, not for your service, but because we need someone to explore it.”

”Since you have this talent, you can delay exploring Slaughter Tower. If you explore Deceit Tower to a certain extent first, then go to Slaughter Tower, you’ll find surprises.”

”Perhaps, you already know what the surprise is.”

”Okay, get out of my office, and remember not to mention me.” Albert burped, clearly drunk.

Wen Xishu didn’t ask further, leaving the principal’s office.

After Wen Xishu left, Albert suddenly chuckled, talking to himself:

”Whether it’s adding credits or the Security Bureau’s request, neither can reasonably demand someone to go to Deceit Tower. In fact, he could ask for more or even refuse.”

”This is the most interesting part—even though he knew how dangerous Deceit Tower is, he barely refused when asked to go, only symbolically complained.”

”Your brother is crazier than you were back then, hahahahaha...”

...

...

Afternoon. Three Towers Academy, Slaughter Tower System Area, boys’ dormitory.

Nissen finally thought of the perfect dance steps, though in Wen Xishu’s eyes, it was as awkward as ”Stop fighting already” level of dance.

Yue Yun finished his workout, covered in sweat, ready to clean himself up in the dorm.

After they both finished their tasks, it was close to class time, but they hadn’t seen Wen Xishu. Only then did they notice a note on the desk.

The approximate content was:

”I’ve received a special assignment and need to keep it confidential. I won’t be attending class with you this afternoon. I’ll disappear for a while, but the duration is uncertain.”

Special assignment, confidential, mysterious disappearance, duration uncertain.

Yue Yun saw these words, and his heart could no longer remain calm. He would not feel jealous, but he couldn’t help thinking...

”Why haven’t I received this kind of attention?”

”I must not be strong enough, not hardworking enough. I have to work even harder in every opportunity to become stronger from now on.”

”Wenxun is not a simple person to have a private course... Very well, on the road to becoming number one at Three Towers Academy, there should be someone like him to motivate me.”

Wen Xishu probably didn’t realize how much of an impact these words had on Yue Yun.

Nissen, on the other hand, had a simple thought and just said wow:

”Wow, that’s so cool. Wen gives me such a storied feeling! I can’t wait for him to come back!”

...

...

Wen Xishu also wanted to come back soon.

But he also didn’t know when he could come back this time, or if he could come back at all.

Wen Xishu had already calmly accepted the fact that he had to crazily test the edge of death, after all, he did the same in his previous life.

It’s just that in this life, he replaced extreme sports with tower climbing.

Two hours earlier, when Nissen and Yue Yun had not yet returned to the dorm, Wen Xishu had already gone to the material department of the academy district.

Since the sequence slot was only one, and he already possessed the bizarre sequence 37·Mental Barrage, Wen Xishu did not borrow any tradeable sequence.

However, he inquired around and found out that the tradeable sequences of the academy were all numbered over one hundred and two hundred.

In Wen Xishu’s view, these seemed like trash sequences. But from the proud expression of the material department staff... these sequences seemed to be very rare.

He underestimated the difficulty of obtaining sequences. Even those numbered outside of one hundred were something many people outside dreamed to acquire.

The material department had a lot of equipment, displayed like in a museum. Many people were also browsing around here.

Wen Xishu only borrowed one piece of equipment.

Although he had four slots in his inventory, considering his low-profile approach to avoid attention, he only declared that he had one slot.

The attributes of this piece of equipment were very ordinary.

The attributes of the items could only be checked in the Three Towers, but the material department knew these attributes well. They had long written down the earliest owners and attributes of these items on paper and made them into exquisite cards.

The color of the card represented the rarity of the item.

A white card indicated a very ordinary item, a blue card indicated a fine item, a purple card indicated a rare item, and an orange card indicated a legendary item.

Of course, up to now, Wen Xishu hadn’t seen many blue card items, let alone purple and orange cards.

It is worth mentioning that although the Truth Cup is a consumable item, it is a blue card level item.

The material department did have purple card level items, but those were not available for first-year students to borrow.

That required additional approval from the school administration and the material department.

Initially, Wen Xishu chose a blue item, but there were too many people in line wanting to borrow it.

In such cases, the material department staff would choose the most suitable person. Wen Xishu didn’t want to stand out.

So he chose a white item with very low attributes, but he was very satisfied with its special attributes.

The description on the item card was as follows:

[Owner: Albert Napolitano.]

[Item Name: Forgot to Bring Key.]

[Item Description: If you also often forget to bring your key, you might want to try this thing. Although it’s a pair of gloves, it’s really suitable for knocking on doors.]

[Item Attributes: Attack Power +5, with a very high additional damage bonus to all kinds of doors.]

Attack Power +5, this attribute couldn’t be lower. Even in white items, it was relatively low.

Wen Xishu currently had no concept of the +5 value.

Plus, it was a pair of gloves with almost no attack range bonus, so no one wanted to use it.

But at first glance, Wen Xishu thought this thing was pretty good.

It was still uncertain if it could be used in bizarre scenarios. If it could... maybe it would have a miraculous effect in some situations where ”the door cannot be opened from this side.”

Also, Wen Xishu thought the gloves were inconspicuous, maybe they could also be useful in the Desire Tower.

Walking on the street with gloves, the police wouldn’t question you, but if you carried a machete on the street, the treatment would be different.

After finishing this matter, Wen Xishu didn’t delay and rushed back to the dormitory. Taking advantage of Yue Yun and Nissen not being back yet, he activated the login device.

The black wristwatch clamped onto his arm like a suddenly biting mouth.

Familiar words appeared in Wen Xishu’s mind again.

[Welcome to the Three Towers Game, about to enter the rest area.]

[Current maximum accessible level: 7 layers.]

[Special item ”Collapse Dice” detected. Would you like to roll it?]
