Three Towers Game

Chapter 37: Chapter 30 The Odd Roommate

Bunker 2061, July 17.

As the pandemic gradually eased, the upward channels began to reopen.

Some of the new students at Three Towers Academy also regained the opportunity to return to the academy.

On July 18, they would have their first class.

The student dormitories were almost fully occupied on July 17.

People from various levels and corners started to get to know their roommates.

Although Three Towers Academy manages students based on a class system, due to the need to form teams for simulated exams, classes are further subdivided into many teams.

Although team members might not be in the same dormitory, relationships with roommates tend to develop the fastest during student years.

Most people prefer to build trust with their roommates and form small teams.

Thus, getting along well with roommates becomes extremely necessary.

Many students had already arrived at the dormitory before July 17.

Yue Yun originally thought he was the earliest to arrive.

Ever since he witnessed Wen Xishu, a peer genius, single-handedly moving Level 6 facilities and changing the fate of countless people...

The pride in his heart disappeared completely, and he swore to push himself and become the most dazzling newcomer at Slaughter Tower Academy.

So he arrived at the dormitory early, intending to familiarize himself with the academy environment first.

But Yue Yun didn’t expect that he wasn’t the earliest to arrive at the academy.

”My name is Wenxun, a new student at Slaughter Tower Academy. We will be roommates from now on.”

Wen Xishu was assigned to Slaughter Tower Academy by Albert.

In the practical simulation classes, Wen Xishu would undergo all kinds of physical training and learn various combat skills.

Albert always believed that the significance of Slaughter Tower wasn’t just about killing enemies in a virtual world.

So he regarded the importance of Slaughter Tower as no less than that of Deceit Tower.

However, Wen Xishu wasn’t entirely unrelated to Desire Tower either. He could choose to audit courses at Desire Tower Academy.

In short, Wen Xishu specialized in Deceit Tower, his primary discipline was Slaughter Tower, and his electives were from Desire Tower.

Yes, he was one of the few who studied all three disciplines.

Back to the point, Wen Xishu was the first to arrive at the dormitory.

A few days earlier, when the lower-level pandemic hadn’t yet eased and the upward channels were still closed, Albert had already brought him to the academy dormitory.

So naturally, Yue Yun wouldn’t have arrived earlier than Wen Xishu.

Yue Yun had a physique that didn’t seem particularly tall or muscular, even appearing a bit... thin from afar.

But up close, everyone would definitely feel that this kid could fight quite well.

At first glance, Wen Xishu thought of the late world-renowned martial arts star from his previous life, the thin-built Bruce Lee.

Yue Yun had a somewhat aloof demeanor. Upon hearing Wenxun introduce himself, his first reaction wasn’t to respond with his name but rather to ask:

”Wenxun? Which ’Wen’? The ’Wen’ from Wen Xishu?”

Having experienced sending floating messages in front of Albert last time, Wen Xishu had better emotional control now.

Upon suddenly hearing a newcomer mention him by name, his first reaction was—

Was this some noble with a grudge against the Wen Family, starting my experience directly in Hell, arranged as my roommate?

An enemy in Honnoji Temple? A foe hidden in my lodging?

This should have been an alarming situation, but Wen Xishu remained very calm and said:

”The ’Wen’ from ’culture’ and the ’xun’ from ’searching’.

Wen Xishu’s expression was very natural.

He had to admit, after arriving in this absurd world, his emotional management skills had improved even further.

Soon, he would master the art of a perpetual poker face.

Yue Yun didn’t detect anything strange, though he seemed a bit disappointed and coldly said:

”My name is Yue Yun, looking forward to your support.”

Yue Yun began to settle his luggage, and the minor ripples inside Wen Xishu’s heart gradually calmed down.

”Hey, don’t be so disappointed. Even though I don’t share the same surname as Wen Xishu, I’ve... heard of it.”

Wen Xishu decided to probe further:

”You’re also asking about Wen Xishu?”

Yue Yun’s brows slightly furrowed, giving Wen Xishu the impression of a protagonist from early fantasy novels, burdened with deep-seated enmity.

”Also? Who else is asking about Wen Xishu?” Yue Yun asked coldly.

”No, I just thought maybe others would be interested as well,” Wen Xishu replied with a smile.

His smile was that kind that could even calm Deceit Jennifer.

Yue Yun seemed to feel the friendliness from Wen Xishu.

Pressing his index finger lightly against the side of his nose, Yue Yun spoke in a deep, serious tone:

”He is mine.”

Wen Xishu hadn’t expected to lose his composure like this. He thought his emotional management was flawless, and hearing his name wouldn’t evoke any extra reactions.

But the phrase ”he is mine” made him lose his expression control, and his face twitched slightly.

Fortunately, floating messages didn’t appear.

Seeing Wen Xishu with an expression as if he had seen a tiny ghost, Yue Yun realized that his words were possibly ambiguous. He turned his head and continued in his cold, deep tone:

”He is my target; I will surpass him. Though there’s a significant gap between us now, thirty years east of the bunker, thirty years west of the bunker.”

Wen Xishu finally understood and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

”What are you laughing at?” Yue Yun’s gaze was sharp.

”I thought of something happy,” Wen Xishu felt completely relieved.

He thought it was an enemy, but it turned out to be a fan.

He knew why he had fans. The material and facilities he moved had earned him a good reputation.

Wen Xishu decided to call Yue Yun ’King of Combos’.

This kid had too much of that ’King of Combos’ style, with his deeply bitter expressions, sharp gaze, and cold tone.

”Are you mocking me? Do you think I’m delusional?” Yue Yun slightly frowned.

To Heaven and Earth, Wen Xishu didn’t think surpassing him was anything remarkable.

After all, he came to the academy through connections, unlike those who were admitted based on their skills, there’s still a gap.

”Why would it be? I just think, having a roommate like you, I’ll be very motivated.”

Yue Yun slowly nodded:

”Good luck, let’s work hard together, strive to become someone like him as soon as possible.”

To be honest, Wen Xishu felt a bit awkward being earnestly pursued by Yue Yun.

If, after the midterm exam, Yue Yun discovers the person he’s chasing is his own roommate... would he feel disillusioned?

Wen Xishu didn’t think much about it, because the next roommate appeared unexpectedly.

Originally thought, the king of forcing was already the epitome of quirky roommates... but Wen Xishu underestimated the caliber of Three Towers Academy.

The principal is so eccentric, naturally the students admitted by the admission office are also not normal.

Where there’s a Sleeping Dragon, there must be a Young Phoenix.

”yo~yo~ follow my rhythm, let’s fight together! You shout for me, watch me show off in front!”

”Hey! Hey! My name is Nissen, my big pole can go so deep! This year in Slaughter Tower Academy, I will surely score full marks!”

A cringe-inducing rap came from a black guy, making Wen Xishu’s hairs stand on end.

Though the rhythm was there, the lyrics really made Wen Xishu embarrassed.

Nissen.

Wen Xishu’s second roommate, compared to the skinny Yue Yun, Nissen appeared extremely robust, roughly estimated by Wen Xishu, around two meters tall.

Yue Yun was cold, while Nissen was excessively enthusiastic, shaking his body as he pushed open the door, rapping out the embarrassing lyrics.

Like a gorilla.

Nissen used a very rap-like way to high-five Wen Xishu, Wen Xishu still responded to the gesture.

Probably like in the movies from his previous life, their palms touched, and then changed gestures constantly.

While Yue Yun coldly watched Nissen who was crazily rapping.

”yo~bro, from now on we’re roommates! Shake with me!” Nissen didn’t care about Yue Yun’s attitude at all.

He was truly very joyful. He kept making some Beatbox sounds with his mouth, with spit flying around.

Yue Yun frowned, but got used to it, not exactly dislike. In the lower levels, he had seen many of these black brothers.

Wen Xishu thought for a bit, then decided to say hello:

”My name is Wenxun, this is Yue Yun. And... you don’t have to always rhyme, he would prefer normal conversation.”

He felt Yue Yun didn’t like Nissen, and seemed not to have the intention to introduce himself.

Unexpectedly Yue Yun asked:

”You also got admitted with full marks in all subjects?”

Nissen swung his arms:

”ye~ although my culture isn’t full marks, my other simulations are all full marks, cultural exams are too hard for me, but the academy’s teacher said I have talent, hey, so they made an exception to admit me.”

Wen Xishu breathed a sigh of relief, it looked like this roommate could speak normally.

However...

He could imagine, he would hear a lot of cringey stuff in the future.

Yue Yun felt a bit competitive inside, he was also full marks, full marks in all subjects.

But he knew, full marks didn’t mean much, some people scored that much because full marks were only so many points.

His goal was to become the top freshman and then surpass the senior students, ultimately chasing the geniuses in the Bunker.

Nissen being admitted as an exception might be because he showed performance surpassing full marks.

With Nissen, the dormitory became much livelier, Yue Yun’s icy aura melted away in Nissen’s cringey songs.

Nissen seemed to turn the whole dormitory atmosphere into a hip-hop vibe.

Even though Wen Xishu didn’t like most blacks, especially the limited edition in his previous life in Guangdong and Guangxi, there were indeed some bringing positivity and joy.

Wen Xishu and Yue Yun spoke rarely, but Nissen kept singing.

To say singing, actually was deliberately rhyming while speaking, expressing roughly the meaning ——

In the sixth class of freshmen, teachers will lead students to participate in the lower-level Slaughter Tower trials.

Wen Xishu didn’t know how Nissen knew this, but if it was true...

Then he might soon log into Slaughter Tower.

Besides, Nissen also conveyed another piece of news.

He said the academy hid a treasure, always encouraging freshmen to search for it, it’s no secret.

However, since the establishment of Three Towers Academy, even the best students haven’t found the treasure.

Generally, after about a year of searching, students give up when they can’t find it.

But Three Towers Academy keeps recruiting new students, freshmen always full of vigor.

Can’t tell if it’s just a gimmick, but students think, even if the academy doesn’t pull such gimmicks, everyone would still fight to get in.

So to freshmen, probably it’s like ”this treasure is destined for me, it hasn’t been found by you, it’s waiting for me.”

Nissen extended his hand:

”Bro, shall we search for the treasure together? Tonight, not just us, hey, a lot from next class including Desire Tower group, will come. Let’s group up as three!”

Regarding this treasure, Yue Yun had heard of it.

He was the king of forcing, before Wen Xishu appeared, he believed he could match Xun Hui and Wenren Mirror in the future.

The characteristic of the king of forcing is to think oneself the chosen one.

Yue Yun nodded, unexpectedly shook hands with Nissen:

”I’m in.”

Wen Xishu didn’t speak, the treasure which students of every year couldn’t find, naturally was extremely hard to search.

However, Wen Xishu suddenly remembered, Albert seemed to have said——

”The academy does have a method to help get stronger, considered a little surprise, but no one knows where it is, because everyone has got the direction wrong.”

He stood up, nodded:

”Trying won’t hurt.”
