Chapter 1382: Traitor

”I have to thank you for showing me the secret.” Noel grinned.

The Supreme Devil was confused, not understanding what he was talking about.

On the other hand, Noel took the initiative this time. He swung his sword, unleashing a sword wave that would freeze everything it touched.

The Supreme Devil raised his sword and cut it down, albeit the tip of the blade actually froze.

”…” The Supreme Devil couldnʼt help but furrow his eyebrows, noticing something different from his attack. ʼThis is… His attack is something more resilient?ʼ

That was right. The cut itself was clean, so his sword shouldnʼt have been frozen, even if it was just a tip. Yet Noelʼs attack could achieve it.

”!!!” It took him only an instant to realize what was going on. Although it was just for a brief period and the adjustment was only something so minor that it could be ignored, it was clear that Noel managed to understand the secret of the king path.

It was still a tedious process because he had to be able to master that power, but the fact he showed this meant he had that potential.

The Supreme Devil couldnʼt believe how easy it was for Noel to understand this power.

ʼIs he a monster? He is much more monstrous than his ancestor. It took him a year to realize this answer, but he…ʼ The Supreme Devil couldnʼt help but recall their first encounter.

It was just a week from the very first time he was exposed to this power. Of course, he might know about it to a certain extent, but he believed Ardagan wouldnʼt have told him about it.

In other words, just by taking everything he saw from him and some other knowledge, he managed to reach this kind of conclusion in just a week.

Of course, Noel would probably require a long time to master this power. After all, once he realized this power, he had to know what kind of property he wanted to shape nature.

Alex took six months to understand it and another year to fully master this power and officially became a spirit king.

But he was afraid Noel would take much shorter than it.

There was only one thought in his mind. Noel was able to do it because he was exposed to this power. In other words, it was his fault.

If he wanted to deal with Noel, he might have to avoid him entirely and come with a massive army to decisively kill him.

The Supreme Devilʼs biggest miscalculation was the fact he didnʼt know this little piece of knowledge about Noel this whole time.

No. His subordinates should have seen through Noelʼs true potential and informed him about it. But the fact that they didnʼt realize it showed how incapable they were.

It was normal for Alexander because back then, Dimitri was the one fighting him. He never really clashed with Alexander again.

Other devil saints had fallen into his hand. Even Qiel, who had fought him more than once, couldnʼt see through it. It was basically because Noel used his intelligence to avoid them. And Raincart played a huge role in hiding this potential, as he was the one taking down the devil saint.

The second time Qiel encountered Noel, the battlefield was vastly different. Whether she realized it or not, it didnʼt matter. After all, Qiel never returned.

Josephine was only fixated on Anna, so it wouldnʼt be weird for her not to know about it.

But there was one person who had fought Noel multiple times and was overwhelmed by him. He didnʼt think much about it, but the moment he realized this potential, he finally understood one thing.

ʼLaufey is a traitor. He must have realized this potential, but he hasnʼt reported it to me. No, itʼs not him being a traitor. He might never have been on our side this whole time.

ʼBut itʼs strange. He should have been controlled by the demons and incapable of betraying me… unless heʼs not controlled by the demons?ʼ

The Supreme Devil was shaken. He didnʼt know how Laufey was able to do it, but if his suspicion was true, it meant Laufey had been a double agent this whole time.

ʼThis bastard, Laufey… The first time he came to me, he brought Margarethaʼs notebook, but now that I think about it, he actually used that notebook to gain my trust.

ʼAnd all the information about his betrayal might be manipulated entirely so that thereʼs no more suspicion about him.

ʼIn other words, someone has been helping him as a double agent this whole time. Who…!!!ʼ

The Supreme Devil felt chills down his spine. There was one person capable of manipulating information to that extent.

He was none other than the greatest merchant the world had ever seen in the last few hundred years.

It was Noelʼs father, Luke Ardagan. Back then, he was executed, but what if Laufeyʼs betrayal and the Third Prince were just a scheme for him to hide from everyoneʼs eyes?

If it were anyone else, he would believe it wasnʼt possible. But Luke was such a strong opponent that he was capable of manipulating even his own execution. In other words, Luke Ardagan was still alive.

ʼWeʼve been had this whole time.ʼ The Supreme Devil was furious. He never thought he was manipulated by Luke Ardagan this whole time. And that rage could only be pacified by killing Laufey. At the very least, even though he wanted to kill Noel right away before his potential could bloom, he couldnʼt do it because of his condition.

As such, he could only push all the blame to Laufey. The moment they returned, he had to kill Laufey and extract all the information he had.

However, Laufey and Josephineʼs condition was unknown, considering Noel still had one more trump card, which was a hidden spirit transcendence expert.

”Youʼve got guts to be distracted against me.” Noel swung his blade.

The Supreme Devil put the blade in front of him to block it, but because he was distracted, he ended up getting pushed back.

”Kh.” The Supreme Devil gritted his teeth as the blade actually hit his body, creating a shallow wound from his shoulder to his chest.

”Sir!” Alexander panicked. He never thought Noel was strong enough to injure the Supreme Devil.

On the other hand, the Supreme Devil had already made his decision. ”Weʼll retreat!”
