Chapter 1360: Manmade Disaster?

Noel and Incetta were taking down one demon after another swiftly, ensuring that no demons would be harming the mansion.

At the same time, Noel was searching for anything that could be a corpse of a human or any trace of people who failed to be rescued.

To his surprise, there was actually none. He couldnʼt see any trace of human blood or body parts, which made it quite surprising, considering the situation.

It made him a bit more relieved, thinking that the people were saved.

Hence, he focused on taking down the demons. His pace was much greater than Incettaʼs, but he intentionally slowed down because he wanted to see Incettaʼs progress.

And it was definitely surprising.

Before, Incetta would be able to take down all these demons herself, but there was something different in her current fighting style. It was the fact that she was also very careful not to destroy the building around her.

The control over her power had improved significantly. She knew the extent of her ability and how much spiritual energy it took to kill a demon.

With this new way of fighting, she managed to efficiently cut down her opponents. In addition, the accuracy allowed her to gauge their strength and figure out their weak spots.

While it was true Vivi was helping her, Noel understood why Anna spoke highly about Incetta in their previous life. Someone like her would definitely be a powerful grandmaster anywhere. However, if she was lucky enough to be picked and learned in a good environment, she would definitely become a spirit transcendence sooner or later. And Vivi was the teacher that would bring her talent to reach her full potential.

It took them only fifteen minutes to kill every single demon in the city. Noelʼs senses scanned the city while his Demon Hunter Medal confirmed it.

Once they killed all the demons, they regrouped not far from the mansion.

”You have improved a lot.” Noel smiled.

”Thank you very much.” Incetta politely bowed. ”Thanks to my lord and madam, I was able to witness a fight that I couldnʼt imagine. As a result, I could achieve this.”

It appeared bringing her with him during the sea expedition was the correct choice. He just hoped Incetta had enough time to become a spirit transcendence before the fight against the Supreme Devil.

”Now that I think about it, arenʼt you supposed to be far from this place?” Noel crossed his arms.

”Ah! I was hunting around this area because I heard there were a lot of demons in that direction.” Incetta pointed to the northeast. ”However, when I reached that place, I noticed the demons were gone. So, I followed their trails and reached this place.”

”I see.” Noel nodded in understanding. ”I guess, even if I didnʼt come here, this city would have been fine.”

”It was just a coincidence…” Incetta looked down as though she was hesitating to say it.

”Whatʼs wrong?”

”No. I donʼt know if it was a coincidence or not…” Incetta furrowed her eyebrows.

”What do you mean?”

”My ancestor and I were not so sure about it, but there might be another reason for the demons to attack this place. It was not a natural migration or anything like that. It was like they were…”

”Being ordered or lured by someone?” Noelʼs expression turned grim.

”Yes. Itʼs just… Iʼm not so sure about it.” Incetta shook her head helplessly.

Noel pondered for a moment. ”In that case, wait here for the moment. Iʼm going to check if the people in this city are fine. After that, you will lead me to that area and we can check it together.”

”Understood.” Incetta nodded.

Noel then walked toward the mansion, finding Layla standing outside the mansion while maintaining her barrier. She remained there for a while until she noticed Noel and Incetta coming into the mansion.

”Everything has been taken care of?” Layla asked.

”Yeah. So, please open the barrier.” Noel confirmed it with a nod.

Layla then clapped her hand, recalling her barrier.

”Have you checked the mansion?” Noel asked.

”Yeah. It looks like they are inside. The count is not done yet, but there are at least 140 people when I count them roughly.”

Noel sighed. ”All right. Thank you for your hard work. Letʼs enter the mansion.”

While walking toward the mansionʼs entrance, Layla explained, ”According to them, it appeared that the guy who was in charge, Zack, ordered the people not to resist and hid inside the mansion instead. The soldiers stationed here seemed to be helping with the evacuation. The city wall was not ready yet, so they chose to hide inside the mansion instead of holding them off.”

”Yeah. Thatʼs the most logical option.” Noel nodded in understanding.

While they were approaching the mansionʼs entrance, Noel could feel gazes from all the windows facing their direction. Suddenly, the door opened as a bearded man and several soldiers rushed outside.

They all fell to their knees and greeted Noel out loud.

”We greet the Marquis. We apologize for the inconvenience weʼve caused.”

”You know me?” Noel frowned. Rose and Dimitri were the ones handling the formal appointment, so he had never seen this guy.

”Yes. I had the liberty of seeing your esteemed self during the parade of your return from the sea expedition.”

”Oh.” Noel nodded casually. ”Youʼve worked hard. How many people are inside the mansion?”

”We have 10 officials, 20 soldiers, and 127 civilians, sir.”

”157…” Noel nodded. ”Well done. There doesnʼt seem to be anyone missing.”

”!!!” The mayor looked surprised. He didnʼt expect the marquis to know the number of people in this city.

”Still, itʼs going to be hard to clean up after all this.” Noel furrowed his eyebrows. ”Iʼm going to investigate the source of this attack. There are no more demons left in this city.

”So, tell the soldiers to clean up the area. The people can return to their usual life. I will send people here to aid you in restoring the city. If anything happens while Iʼm away, lead the people back here. There should be enough demon crystals to maintain the barrier, right?”

”Yes, sir.”

”Investigate?” Layla looked confused.

Noel whispered, ”It might be caused by someone.”

”!!!”
