Chapter 1287 Elaineʼs Decision

The battle between the Third Prince and the Magic Lord had caused massive destruction. Considering their location, the initial explosion alone had killed several people. Other people experienced the blast, which caused a huge stir in the city.

Of course, as this was considered a big city and the Magic Lord was a neutral party, which was a bit leaning toward them, Noel had planted some spies in this town, or more like Harley did.

They were none other than the women in the brothel.

The manager was looking at their battle from afar. She was a spirit wielder, so she could understand the flow of the battle much more than the rest of the girls.

She couldnʼt help but squint her eyes, thinking, ”This is not looking good.”

Obviously, she had to report this matter to Harley.

As soon as he received the news, Harley couldnʼt help but stand up. ”It seems the royal family is planning to launch an all-out attack right now. To think the Third Prince would be working together with them.

”According to the report, the Third Prince seems to be significantly stronger than the Magic Lord, so he is either close to spirit transcendence or might be a spirit transcendence himself.

”This doesnʼt look good. What if the Third Prince attacks us directly? With that kind of strength, I doubt anyone can stop him…” Harley bit his lips. No one really knew about Melissaʼs true strength, so they were panicking the moment they knew about the Third Princeʼs strength.

In fact, the Third Prince wasnʼt the sole threat in this scenario. Now that the Magic Lord was gone, the Tower Association could finally make their move.

Harley bit his lips. ”Search for the Magic Lord and the Water Lord. The letter doesnʼt state that they have died, so I need to make sure of their conditions.”

”Yes.” His assistant nodded and immediately rushed out of the room.

Harley clicked his tongue and looked around before making a decision. ”I have to go back to the main city right now.”

…

While they were in panic due to the outside threat, they didnʼt realize that the royal family had been using another dirty trick to attack them from the inside.

And the target this time was Elaine.

Elaine was reading the letter from her father. It was a long letter because there were a lot of things she was curious about.

Her fatherʼs reply was so detailed, as if he was answering all her questions right before her.

”Father. How are you doing? How is the territory?”

Her father had been exiled after the previous battle against the Ardagan family. So, she had been talking to him this whole time so that her father didnʼt get bored. Besides, her father had been contacting the family, so he should know about the familyʼs condition. In the end, talking to an exile would cause less suspicion than talking to her direct family.

”Iʼm good. I hope youʼre doing well there. Why are you asking the territory all of a sudden? Didnʼt you receive the report there?”

”Report?”

”Oh my. Did you not know everything that happened in the territory of Noel Ardagan?”

”Did something bad happen?”

”Donʼt overthink it. The family is in great shape right now. After what happened in the past, never in my wildest dreams did I think our family would be picked as the main supplier of bricks.

”He didnʼt personally come here, but the head butler came to tell us that you had done a great job in his territory. They had compensated you fairly to the point where you could probably settle the debt in about two years before becoming a free person once again.

”As thanks, Marquis Ardagan planned to choose us as the main supplier of bricks. We accepted.

”It was hard and exhausting, but they still gave the money as promised. They even told us that you had been doing fine and told us about your situation, so there was no reason for us to pay the debt. In fact, it was one of the conditions to be chosen.

”It looked like you had done a lot that the marquis didnʼt want to let you go. Besides, with this money, the territory could return to its peak within a year.

”In addition, the Marquis had promised to build a road to connect the train to this place, which was a huge thing for us. At this point, we might achieve an even greater height than before.

”I was wrong in the past. I never thought that the royal family would abandon us so easily. Meanwhile, our enemy ended up giving us a lot of things. I donʼt know whether I can even hold this grudge any longer.

”Your brother had been the one taking care of the territory, but it had been progressing fine.”

Elaine was completely stunned when she read the answer. She couldnʼt help but picture the smiling face of her father, since his joy was clearly expressed in his writing.

”…” Elaine took a deep breath before reading the last answer.

The question was whether the royal family had visited them or not.

”No. I donʼt know why you ask them, but they have abandoned us. I have never heard anything. If the royal family or the central government contacted us, your brother would have told me right away.”

Elaineʼs expression turned grim. This answer had confirmed her suspicion. The royal family was offering all those things in exchange for the Ardagan familyʼs weaknesses.

The minister position they promised might not even be real. After all, they should first go to her family to show their sincerity.

She had been buying time to confirm all this with her father. Now that the truth had been revealed, her expression turned cold.

She hid the letter inside her clothes and opened the door.

”Hello. Have you finally made your decision?” The noble, who offered her the position, smiled.

Elaine nodded her head before taking out a pile of documents, saying, ”This is the dirt on the Ardagan family you previously requested.”
