System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1282 Movement

”Sir. I think you want to see this.” A woman brought a piece of paper to Maxwell, the current number one merchant in the Muivell Kingdom.

Due to Noelʼs road and train, he was able to dominate the current market. Of course, Theressa and Zephyr managed to get the same thing. They managed to become the top three, kicking away all kinds of competitions. Enjoy new tales from empire

They had controlled the goods of almost half of the kingdom.

Maxwell couldnʼt help but furrow his eyebrows. ”So, Matthew has made his move…”

He couldnʼt help but remember Matthew, the former number two merchant in the kingdom. Due to his greed, Noel kicked him in the butt and forced him to abdicate. As a result, he could only barely survive as a top ten merchant. If more and more merchants joined Noel, it wouldnʼt be weird if he ended up getting kicked out of that rank.

Maxwell pondered for a moment and said, ”Inform the Ardagan family about their movement. Tell them that Matthew is planning to advance from the west. His intention is still unclear, but the goods have been moved there.

”Most likely, he is going to expand from there and move the moment the central government has taken action.”

”Yes, sir.” The woman nodded and immediately left the room to execute the order.

Maxwell couldnʼt help but squint his eyes. ”This is going to be intense. Now that Noel Ardagan is gone, they are most likely trying to do something big.

”The one who can see through all their tricks is gone, so I donʼt think it will be weird if they even use merchants and legal power to bind the Ardagan family. If they can force the Ardagan family into submission, I donʼt know what will happen to the Ardagan family… No, even Noel might not be able to save it anymore.

”I wonder whatʼs going on right now. The trains have just been finalized, and a lot of things are happening at once. The business is booming, but if the Ardagan family falls here, it will be a disaster for both merchants and nobles.”

Maxwell fell silent before opening his drawer. Before Noel left, he gave him this letter. He opened it again as if it was trying to assure himself.

”I will be gone. Iʼm not sure whatʼs going to happen, but there are a few things you will have to take note of.

”My student, Tristan, will become the temporary head of the Ardagan family so that the operation will be smooth. He will be assisted by the pillars of the family.

”I have given some instructions and left behind a few trump cards if theyʼre necessary, so I donʼt think I need to worry much about it.

”However, there are a few things that you need to be wary of. First of all, they will definitely make a move not long after my departure.

”You need to see through their supply lines, which will allow you to see the location theyʼre planning to focus on.

”I want you, Theressa, and Zephyr to expand into that area, stopping their advance. This alone will be a big help. Besides, itʼs time for you to crush other merchants, especially Matthew, who has been the one scheming against us.

”Just send the letter to the Ardagan family and weʼll prepare to build a road over there. Of course, my disciple will handle the negotiation with the lords there.

”Also, there is a chance for them to use legal power. Their target is not only the Ardagan family but also merchants like you. They might even sabotage the train system, so pay close attention to them. If necessary, you can use them to strike against them.

”Nevertheless, if you suffer a lot, I will do my best to compensate you, so you can be as bold as you want.

”If we are able to hold them this time, the situation will be much more under control. The expansion of the market will also be quite good.

”So, Iʼm counting on you to help the Ardagan family through this crisis.

”If you end up facing a situation you canʼt resolve, head to the Ardagan family and tell my secretary that you want to meet Harley. He will help you solve the crisis.”

Maxwell let out a sigh, believing this was the only way. If that was the case, he shouldnʼt hesitate.

”Alright. Letʼs make my move. I bet Theressa and Zephyr have gotten this letter as well. This will also allow Sir Noel to know whether the allies will abandon him or not.”

…

As Noel predicted, they definitely planned to use the legal power. But to do that, they had to weaken the Ardagan familyʼs legal power first.

The Ardagan familyʼs head of law couldnʼt be approached. No, it was more like he shouldnʼt be approached, considering he was eccentric.

However, the one making all the plans for the policy and other stuff, Elaine, was different.

She might currently work under Noel, but it didnʼt change the fact that her family had once fought against him. Obviously, they were crushed, and Noel forced her through all kinds of humiliations before employing her.

If there was someone who could be swayed, it would be her.

”What?” Elaine squinted her eyes, looking at the middle-aged man in front of her.

He smiled. ”Miss Elaine. I know that you have been harboring hatred for Noel Ardagan. Your family is devastated right now, so how about it?

”How about working with us? We can help you go through this crisis. In fact, we can elevate your family to an even higher position.

”We have heard a lot about you and your ability. If you work with us, we can do a lot of things for you and your family. For example, making you a minister...

”Your father will definitely be proud of you if you choose the correct choice. After all, who wants to stay as a simple subordinate while having to pay money (debt) to your enemy?”

The guyʼs smile became bigger and bigger.
