Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 239: Chapter 179: Summer Festival

At 2 PM, Keri arrived at the ranch and immediately noticed a huge crater on the lawn.

Her face showed a look of astonishment: ”Was this hit by a meteorite?”

Naoki: ”...”

Next to him, Koraidon hung its head low; it wasn’t intentional.

Seeing this, Keri was even more surprised: ”Did Koraidon do this? It’s so powerful!”

”I asked Koraidon to demonstrate a move for me.” Naoki said helplessly, ”I didn’t expect the move to be so powerful.”

He was pushing a small cart loaded with dirt, which he and Koraidon just dug from the mountain to fill the crater.

Naoki tipped over the cart, dumping all the dirt into the big hole, making several trips before the land was finally somewhat leveled.

However, the turf here was blown away by Koraidon’s Collision Course, leaving it bare in stark contrast to the surroundings.

Naoki thought for a moment, turned around, and took out a bag of Pasture Seeds, scattering it evenly on the ground, then called over the Gogoats lounging under the pergola, asking them to help take care of this patch of grass.

To get the grass to grow quickly, as it doesn’t look good being bald.

This task was very simple for the Gogoats; they immediately surrounded the area and began infusing it with Grass Energy.

”Whew!”

Naoki patted one of the Gogoats on the head, then turned to see Keri starting to get busy with several Machamp.

Lately, they had already dug a square pit and laid out the cellar outline with moisture-proof materials and boards.

Keri was busy over there, and Naoki had no plans to idle.

The sunflower heads from the last harvest had all been cut down by him and were placed under the sun to dry. Then, several Pokemon helped shell the dried sunflower seeds.

The sunflowers from three plots produced a total of five large boxes of sunflower seeds.

With nothing better to do now, Naoki moved these boxes to the kitchen and began roasting the sunflower seeds, preparing to vacuum pack them as Translation Nuts for gradual consumption.

By the time Naoki finished roasting all five boxes of sunflower seeds, May 31 had arrived.

That day, the summer festival was held.

At 8 PM, people would gather at the beach on the west side of Porto Marinada Town to watch the fireworks display.

”Hey, Naoki, don’t forget to watch the fireworks tonight!” Zack reminded while moving several barrels of milk onto a truck.

”I remember.” Naoki naturally hadn’t forgotten; he was quite looking forward to it, having only seen such festivals in anime before.

Like the Ho-oh Festival in Johto Region’s Ecruteak City, where there are singing geishas and plays depicting the legends of Ho-oh and Lugia.

”That’s good.” Zack grinned. He wanted to say more but then noticed Naoki’s blue workwear: ”Wearing that is not appropriate for a summer festival!”

Naoki was slightly taken aback.

Zack: ”You should wear traditional festival attire!”

Naoki: ”...” Could he say he wasn’t prepared?

”Judging by your look, you haven’t prepared yet, have you?” Zack laughed, ”At this time, the shops in town are probably closed. How about this! I have a set at home. It’s my nephew’s, he never wore it, I’ll deliver it to you later!”

Naoki shook his hands repeatedly: ”No, no, I’ll just change into clean clothes later.”

Zack frowned: ”How can that do? This special day comes only once a year; you must take it seriously!”

Naoki: ”...Alright then.”

”Now that’s the spirit!” Zack enthusiastically slapped his shoulder: ”Just wait, I’ll bring it to you later!”

Watching Zack’s figure fade into the distance, Naoki went back inside, took a quick shower, and changed into clean clothes.

Then he gathered all the Pokemon at the ranch: ”Who wants to join me for the summer festival?”

”Woo!”

Several lively and mischievous Dratini and Dragonair responded immediately.

”Great!” Naoki nodded in approval and looked at the other Pokemon.

Koraidon and Cyclizar were naturally willing to go, and Dragonite and Pawmo as well.

Alcremie, Naclstack, Glaceon, and Butterfree wanted to join the fun, too.

In the end, all the Pokemon at the ranch were put into Poke Balls, including Combee and Miltank.

Only Koraidon, Dragonair, and the Dratinis remained outside.

As Naoki looked at the heavy load of Poke Balls in his pocket, he felt a bit lost.

He hadn’t noticed how many Pokemon he had caught!

He placed these Poke Balls into his Space Backpack. Then he turned his gaze to the Dratini and Dragonair: ”Come inside? Let me see how you sneak into my backpack.”

”Woo~”

The three Dratini and two Dragonair looked up with bright eyes.

They slipped into the Space Backpack one by one, and after the last Dragonair went in, it skillfully pulled the zipper with its tail.

However, the zipper wasn’t fully closed, leaving a gap through which the Pokemon peered at Naoki outside.

Naoki monitored the situation of the Space Backpack.

From the outside, the Space Backpack did not appear bulging due to those Dragonair and Dratini inside, suggesting the interior space was much larger than he had imagined.
