Chapter 230: Chapter 173: Stealing Melons on a Moonlit Night

Psyduck’s heads occasionally generate psychic powers they can’t control, leading to headaches and tears, constantly plagued by pain.

The stronger the headache, the more powerful the force becomes, and when it becomes unbearable, it explodes as telekinesis.

At such times, the headache seems to be temporarily relieved, but perhaps the brain is influenced by psychic powers, and memories of the time are not retained.

This issue has troubled the Pokémon academic world for years.

Because using psychic powers gives them headaches, Psyducks usually try not to do anything, just idling away, coupled with their silly faces, making them appear not very smart, kinda silly.

What should he do with such a Pokémon?

Teaching them isn’t right, not teaching them isn’t right either.

After pondering for a moment, Naoki still had Koraidon grab them one by one and send them to the other side of the river.

Koraidon obediently did so, while Naoki went to the field, picking the crops damaged by the Psyducks, and directly handing them to Koraidon to give them to eat.

The Psyducks were naturally extremely grateful, sitting on the other side of the river, munching into the watermelons with their heads bowed.

The next day early in the morning, all the crops in the field matured.

After milking the Gogoat, Naoki put on a straw hat, braving the blazing sun up in the sky to start harvesting the crops.

The last time he farmed, he expanded a large area of farmland, and now with all the crops matured, he and Koraidon Cyclizar felt somewhat overwhelmed.

Just then, Naoki suddenly noticed the group of Psyducks across the river looking longingly over.

A bold thought popped into his mind.

What if... he hired the Psyducks to help with the harvest?

Just like he previously hired the Digletts.

And he would only need to provide some food to the Psyducks.

There were a lot of crops growing in the field, which a few Psyducks couldn’t possibly finish eating.

The more Naoki thought about it, the more he felt it was a good idea, so he called over Koraidon and whispered in its ear.

After listening, there was not much surprise on Koraidon’s face.

It nodded, and then went straight to the riverside and began communicating with the group of Psyducks.

Naoki didn’t know what they said, but before long, he saw the group of Psyducks crossing the river, following Koraidon to this side.

Naoki’s heart twitched, looking at the silly Psyducks in front of him, observing their state, seeing that they didn’t seem troubled by headaches, he then asked, ”Did you all understand?”

”Quack!”

Koraidon commanded, ”Argh-gah-hoo!”

Instantly, the Psyducks started moving.

They swarmed into the field, and in no time, came out hugging a variety of fruits, piling them up on the grass.

Seeing them working so capably, Naoki raised his eyebrows in surprise.

Learned so fast?!

He initially thought it was a good thing, but soon problems arose.

A Psyduck, in attempting to move a large watermelon, found itself lacking strength and decided to use telekinesis to move the melon.

But just as the light in its eyes began to glow, the Psyduck felt a sharp pain in its head, as if its brain was being squeezed.

”Quack!”

It cried out in pain, sitting heavily on the ground, clutching its head tightly with both hands, even drops of sweat trickling down its forehead.

Seeing this scene, Naoki was startled, hurrying forward to check on the Psyduck’s condition.

”It must be that using telekinesis stimulated its brain,”

After a brief contemplation, Naoki said to Cyclizar next to him, ”Help take care of these Psyducks and don’t let them use telekinesis.”

Saying this, Naoki mounted Koraidon, rushing at top speed to the Pokemon Center in Porto Marinada Town to purchase a box of special medicine for Psyduck headaches from Miss Joy.

After feeding it to the Psyducks, they reverted back to their silly expressions.

Naoki: ”...”

He suddenly regretted his decision a bit.

Not only did the work not get done, but he even ended up spending money on a few bottles of special medicine.

Pressing his lips together, Naoki let out a sigh, waved his hand at the group of Psyducks, and said, ”Forget it, you guys go back and rest! Consider these six watermelons my treat.”

Saying that, he summoned Dragonite: ”Dragonite, come over and help me deliver the watermelons across the river!”

Dragonite immediately carried the watermelons to the other side of the river.

The Psyducks tilted their heads, their eyes drawn to Dragonite carrying the watermelons, and then they all hopped and skipped towards the other side of the river.

”Digletts are still the most obedient!” Naoki sighed.

Hearing this, a few Dragonairs and Dratinis that had snuck over from Dragonite Island flew over.

”Woo!”

Naoki: ”...you’re well-behaved too, but remember, don’t go into the Diglett holes again or you’ll get stuck and won’t be able to come out.”

Thinking of his own silly actions, Dratini was filled with shame and rage, turning away and ignoring him.

Dragonite chuckled watching the scene.

It was eager for these Dratinis and Dragonairs to hurry back to Dragonite Island.

So, seeing Dratini’s demeanor, Dragonite hurried over to ask, ”Awoo?”

If they want to return to Dragonite Island, it can help!

Dratini took a sneak peek at Naoki, loudly saying, ”Woo!”

It was saying, ”I’m angry! I’m going home!”

However, unfortunately, Naoki hadn’t eaten translation nuts lately because of heartburn and couldn’t understand Dratini’s words.

Seeing no reaction from Naoki, who was still working with Koraidon and Cyclizar, Dratini felt immediately aggrieved, seeming as if it might cry in the next moment.

Dragonite thought this wasn’t good.

Sure enough, the next second, it saw Dratini flying over to Naoki, with big, misty eyes.

”What’s wrong?” Naoki asked, somewhat surprised.

Dratini didn’t say anything, instead, it flew onto his shoulder, wrapped its little body around his neck like a scarf.

Naoki was charmed by Dratini’s actions, giving its white big nose a kiss.

Seeing this, a few Pokémon nearby were shocked and envious.

Looking at the envious faces of Koraidon, Cyclizar, and Dragonite, Naoki’s heart skipped a beat, quickly changing the topic: ”Let’s get back to work! Otherwise, we won’t finish in time!”

No kidding, he definitely wouldn’t go around kissing big Pokémon.

Raising Pokémon is like raising kids; you can kiss them when they’re small, but once they grow up, you just can’t bring yourself to do it.

Though Cyclizar isn’t even one year old yet, it’s grown to an unignorable size.

What kind of dad would kiss a kid that’s 1.7 meters tall?

Luckily, the workload was indeed heavy, so after a brief moment of disappointment, everyone returned to work.

Koraidon, Cyclizar, and Dragonite collected the crops to be harvested onto the grass, while Naoki carried a basket and started picking hops.

He didn’t plan to sell these hops, intending instead to store them to brew beer.

There were a lot of hops, enough to brew two batches of beer.

You could harvest hops about twice in a summer, just enough to save for brewing in the autumn and winter.

Besides, the wheat he planted to make malt was also ready for harvest.

Naoki planned to harvest the hops before cutting the wheat, leaving the corn, pineapples, watermelons, and pumpkins to the farm’s Pokémon.

During harvest, Naoki kept a close eye on the surrounding crops, looking to see if there were any mutations like before.

Unfortunately, this batch seemed to only produce two mutated crops: heart’s desire pumpkins and glowing pineapples.

Despite the regret, Naoki felt that having two was already quite lucky given the odds.

So, when Professor Sada arrived at the farm with Arven, they saw Koraidon, considered a treasure by the research institute, busy with farm work.

Professor Sada seemed to witness something shocking, her face showing disbelief.

Previously, Naoki had only said that Koraidon had a gentle temperament, but she never imagined that this Koraidon could be so docile.

In Professor Sada’s mind, Koraidon, a Pokémon from ancient times, had always been wild, aggressive, fiercely dominant, and extremely possessive.

Yet here, it was helping Naoki with farm work!

For a moment, Professor Sada was at a loss for words.

And to watch Koraidon work so skillfully, it was evident that it hadn’t shied away from labor while living on the farm...
