Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 840: Chapter 639: The Choice of Plan 4

As Lin Feng and his group returned, the entire camp was immersed in a strange atmosphere.

The students looked at them with very complex expressions and acted more enthusiastically toward them.

Currently, the Avengers Alliance has the achievement of encircling and killing the Extraordinary. If Spirit Medium Hong Yi is also a member of the alliance, it’s equivalent to having the combat power of two Emperors, which is already a powerful force with unlimited potential.

There were quite a few who wanted to make friends and form alliances.

After waiting two or three hours, confirming that Alfonso had indeed been surrounded and killed by Lin Feng and his team, the mentors who were originally planning to evacuate also gradually left the camp, leaving behind the still-unconscious Alice.

Under the examination of various professional instruments, Alice’s heart had regrown, her heartbeat and all life characteristics had returned to normal, and she had a clear response to the outside world, but what was surprising was that she remained unconscious.

After the third plan ended, of the 55 teams, only 14 were left, and with those forced to withdraw due to injuries, only 273 students remained.

As the mentors left, the camp, which was already empty, felt even more deserted.

Upon returning to the camp, Lin Feng and the group kept a low profile, staying inside the training hall.

Sometimes they even slept on makeshift bedding inside the hall.

Although they had the right in this matter and Alice was still unconscious, the fall of an Extraordinary and the fact that a mentor was encircled and killed by students had too much impact, so lying low for the time being wasn’t a bad idea.

Even for meals, Lin Feng had Chen Dali and others bring takeout food to them.

”Feels like the news is getting bigger and bigger!”

Dong Yunan muttered while scrolling through her phone.

She had been closely monitoring the news dynamics these past few days, and the news heat had not decreased. On the contrary, it was becoming more intense.

Her dad called five or six times a day, reminding them to be cautious and careful.

”Yesterday, when you went to train, Alex came to the dormitory to visit. He told us not to worry, saying the Sun Foundation is also paying attention to this matter, and if anything arises, they will notify us immediately.”

Ye Xing said, not paying much attention.

The Avengers Alliance of today was not the same as before.

Yun Kai and the others already had backing support.

With their becoming Kings, they now had the qualification to represent their families and could also leverage family power.

Participating in the King Becoming plan, apprenticing to mentors, this involved connections.

Some students joined the King Becoming plan not with becoming Kings as the main goal, but for networking and connections.

The three-month mentorship, with thirty students, could mean weak teacher-student rapport, but with the current strength and potential of the Avengers Alliance, they already had the qualification for Emperors to regard and befriend them.

Also, forming friendships with other students like Chen Dali and others, who had Emperor-level seniors backing them, often visited these days.

The former Avengers Alliance was not like a rootless duckweed, and now they had both connections and strength.

”No need to keep looking at those news stories. There’s nothing to worry about. Online, they said it’s a drama of emotional entanglement, with two men fighting over a woman, and a boyfriend avenging his deceased girlfriend against a deranged suitor.”

Yang Ningbing casually remarked, then seemed to recall something, laughing out loud: ”I heard there are already directors planning to shoot a romance drama based on this story, and it will be a TV series.”

”Then Lin Feng and Alice should play the lead roles, and I can reluctantly play Alfonso.”

Yu Qiao joined the topic with great interest, even mimicking Alfonso’s sinister smile: ”Lin Feng, Alice is mine, don’t think you can step in as a third wheel.”

”Haha, you don’t need to act; you naturally look like a pervert,” Yun Tianqi said with a laugh.

The others also burst into laughter.

”Screw you, someday I’ll get back at you,” Yu Qiao responded with a grump.

Since becoming a King, he had started acting arrogantly, challenging anyone except Lin Feng and Bu Zheng.

Lin Feng watched his teammates fooling around, feeling somewhat helpless inside.

Compared to Dong Yunan, who constantly monitored the news, he wasn’t worried at all.

Alfonso was already dead, and the dead had no value.

Furthermore, Alfonso was a madman, and his death was deserved.

Announcing the cause of his death wouldn’t sound pleasant, so it was impossible to make a big fuss.

They also had the backing of Hua Country.

And since Alice was still unconscious, the worst case scenario was just pulling out of the King Becoming plan. They had already achieved their goal with eleven members becoming Kings, so even if they pulled out, it wasn’t a big deal.

Hong Yi was still hiding in the desert, and in case of any unexpected situation, they had a retreat path.

The outer-world news, no matter how sensational, didn’t affect them, passing three days calmly.

On the fourth morning, as all students gathered in the square, Igor announced the fourth plan:

Rescue the 31 cities!

He also showed them a video lasting half an hour. The current situation of each city was displayed in the video.

This is clearer than the video Hong Tao and his team watched at the meeting, showing more detailed situations and depicting the civilians’ lives as being even more tragic.

Some scenes were so harrowing that the trainees couldn’t bear to watch, their bodies slightly trembling, suppressing an endless fury in their hearts.

”Cities with danger levels from 1 to 2 stars are in slightly better condition, as the Space Gates within them are not highly ranked, and the order is relatively normal. The main obstacle for evacuation is the Demon Beast. For cities with 3 stars and above, order has become chaotic. In 4-star cities, order is on the verge of being out of control, with some having already collapsed. In the two 5-star cities, there have been numerous traces of Abnormal People.”

”Especially Yundong City, which is located at the junction of the Three Kingdoms. The city boasts as many as 27 Space Gates, three of which are of the ninth-star level, suggesting that the city might harbor numerous Abnormal People, perhaps even many Alien Kings. Yundong City has now lost communication, most likely already under the control of Abnormal People.”

At the junction of the Three Kingdoms!

Harboring numerous Alien Kings!

Already controlled by Abnormal People!

Upon hearing this, the trainees’ faces changed repeatedly.

The situation in such border areas is already complex.

Space Gates of ninth-star level can suppress Kings, but still allow their entrance.

That implies that Upper Rank Kings might appear in Yundong City, and with its three ninth-star-level Space Gates, many Alien Kings might be present.

The city has now lost communication, and no information can be obtained. How to ensure the safe transfer of millions of civilians in such circumstances?

Forget about sending trainees for rescue; even a team of Emperor-level instructors might struggle.

This is not a simple battle, but rather a rescue and transfer mission.

Not rescues of one or a few people, but of millions.

Facing the trainees’ grim expressions, Igor’s voice remained calm: ”Like with the third plan, trainees form teams of twenty, freely and independently.”

As he spoke, 31 flags of varying colors descended from the sky, each bearing the name of one of the 31 cities.

From one to five stars, different danger levels, with different colors.

Among them, Herod City at the five-star level had a red flag.

Whereas Yundong City, also at a five-star level, had an even darker color, a blood-red flag!

Blood-red, seemingly representing this task and its hellish difficulty level!

”This mission is very dangerous and tests more than just your combat skills. Different countries’ Kings and rescue teams will cooperate with your actions, or you may cooperate with theirs. The fourth plan is not mandatory; you can choose to opt out, and there are no points rewards, as life is priceless.”

He added in conclusion: ”Compared to other cities, Yundong City’s situation is highly complex and has already lost communication. The World Alliance is attempting to contact the city to understand the specifics, and will negotiate with the Abnormal People. If negotiations fail, concentrated bombardment will be directed at the three ninth-star level Space Gates to prevent unnecessary casualties, so no decisions need to be made for now.”

At this moment, suppressed sobbing echoed.

When Igor said this, it essentially meant that Yundong City would be abandoned.

Millions of civilians would die.

But this is indeed a reluctant decision.

Such reluctant scenarios are not new.

”Begin the selection.”

Igor said.

The atmosphere remained silent for a while. Minutes later, the trainees completed their discussions and solemnly stepped forward.

They pulled out flags in front of Igor, most of them yellow one-star and orange two-star flags.

No one dared to take the red or blood-red five-star flags.

Not even Alex’s team did; they chose the purple flag of Yaling City, ranked at a four-star danger level.

Only this team chose a four-star level.

As for the five-star cities, the task difficulty far exceeded the trainees’ imagination.

Yundong City, in fact, had already been abandoned.

Of the 31 flags, there were 18 remaining in the ground, with no team taking them. Currently, only the Avengers Alliance had yet to make their choice.

”Lin Feng should choose the five-star Herod City, right?”

”Alex’s team, all Kings, only chose a four-star level.”

”Can it be compared? The Avengers Alliance has the record of besieging Alfonso!”

”Yes, and there’s the Spirit Medium Hong Yi, which means they effectively have two Emperor-level capabilities.”

”Alex’s team also has the ability to besiege Emperors, it’s just unclear how many might die. Besides, this isn’t a battle, it’s a rescue and transfer mission.”

”True.”

The trainees whispered among themselves.

Under curious gazes, Lin Feng stepped forward to Igor and, amidst everyone’s incredulous stares, slowly pulled out the blood-red flag marked ”Yundong City”...
