Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 811: Chapter 613: Heard You’re Pretty Strong?

Gazes turned towards the arena where Lin Feng stood, finally resting on a row of banners resembling flames, their expressions varied: surprise, shock, even mockery.

Just three minutes into the third plan, teams began to attack and defend the arena.

Each sending out ten fighters, most teams hadn’t even finished the first round.

Yet Lin Feng’s team already had eight Fire Banners.

teams, 55 Fire Banners. This single team occupied one-seventh of the total.

”What does this mean?”

”Didn’t you see clearly? Those Fire Banners were requested by other teams for protection.”

”I know, but I meant, is the Avengers Alliance crazy?”

”Overestimating themselves.”

”Why is no one attacking? Has even Kitahara Sonosuke been scared out of his wits?”

”Starting with a powerful confrontation is too risky, unnecessary. Someone will handle them later on.”

The expressions on the students’ faces were vivid; even the tense battle situation slowed down instinctively.

Not just the students, the mentors were equally surprised.

”Protecting someone’s banner at the beginning, for six teams consecutively, must be pre-planned. Weak teams seeking shelter is understandable. But why engage in such a thankless task?”

Leng Feng, dressed in black, inquired.

”Indeed, isn’t the risk of challenge even greater this way?”

Other mentors shared this doubt.

”The same unique, rule-breaking style, this is not how the rules are played!”

Zuo Ziyu spoke with a hint of amusement and a slight sigh.

According to the third plan’s rules, facing a challenge from other teams, the defending team can request banner protection, but if the defending side has only one Fire Banner, they can ensure not being eliminated themselves but cannot offer protection.

Meaning there is no reward for those seeking protection.

Not only no reward, but greater risk.

If the defending side fails, their own Fire Banners will be reduced to zero.

It’s a thankless act, potentially arousing public anger.

If Lin Feng’s squad advances successfully, just these six banners would reduce the total score pool by 1200 points.

The rule setup aims to first eliminate weaker teams, preventing them from avoiding fights at the start, seeking protection, and winning effortlessly.

Also to deter strong teams from protecting banners unconditionally for first-place points rewards.

In mentors’ view, seeking banner protection mainly comes into play later in the competition, confronting unbeatable teams and giving some banners to the protector for safety.

This benefits both parties.

Under the temptation of first-place point rewards, strong teams continuously challenge, adding suspense and spectacle.

As predicted, weaker teams face challenges first, even if finding banner protection, no team is willing to defend.

Except for the Avengers Alliance, the disruptor.

In Chen Junhao’s words: ”Unethical!”

”Have you not noticed? Those six requesting banner protection, though weaker in strength, have strong backgrounds. Many members have Emperor supporters. They likely struck a deal privately with the Avengers Alliance.”

Hequan Chebai analyzed this.

Alice lowered her head slightly, seemingly calm, but with a slightly embarrassed expression.

”Looking at it this way, indeed, no wonder only six teams were given protection.”

”Seeking Emperor backgrounds, the reward must be Origin Power, preparing for becoming a King.”

”Any transaction begins with a gain. Origin Power is precious, only given with confidence they can make it to the end?”

If they reach the end, the Avengers Alliance indeed could gain significant Origin Power and possibly score rewards.

But knowing that Lin Feng’s team already has eight Fire Banners, despite the allure, initially no team might challenge them. In the later competition, strong teams will certainly disregard it.

They’ll face continuous challenges until eliminated.

”The more Fire Banners, the higher elimination risk, but there is an advantage.”

Reimer smiled slightly: ”That is teams wishing to challenge Lin Feng’s must be cautious. If with fewer banners than Avengers Alliance and fail, they’ll be eliminated.”

Facing the Avengers Alliance’s defense, the six teams’ members appeared very silent.

Chen Junhao and his group’s faces were grim.

They looked towards a certain direction, where a handsome young boy stood.

The boy wore Japan’s unique dark cyan warrior cloak, a childish bowl-cut hairstyle, standing perhaps at one meter seventy or possibly less, around one meter sixty-eight.

Despite appearances like an ordinary high schooler.

Yet this team with seventeen Kings is centered around this ”high schooler.”

The ”high schooler” named Kitahara Sonosuke, one of the world’s recognized top five genius Assassins.

Kitahara Sonosuke glanced at Lin Feng; his dark eyes held no emotional fluctuations, seemingly emotionless.

Under Kitahara Sonosuke’s gaze, Lin Feng seemed to sense something, meeting eyes with the same indifferent look.

”Let’s go.”

Kitahara Sonosuke withdrew his gaze, turned to leave, feeling a bit unwilling but rationally choosing to give up.

The Avengers Alliance isn’t a weak team; defeating them would come at a cost. Facing immediate challenges from teams like Alex afterward.

Eight Fire Banners are tempting; if later in the competition, he’d unhesitatingly challenge. Now, early on, he must retain his state, as Hua Country people say, letting others fight will benefit the bystander.

”Gave me a fright.”

Watching Kitahara Sonosuke’s team pulling flags, leaving Chen Dali’s team’s arena, Dong Yunan exhaled in relief.

Not only Little Sister Dong, but others were relieved as well, Lin Feng included.

He too didn’t want a fierce confrontation too soon.

Teams vary in strength.

Even the globally recognized strongest team, Child of Light Alex’s team, can’t continuously challenge multiple strong teams, needing consideration of members’ condition and losses.

With Kitahara Sonosuke’s surrender, three other teams’ members also pulled flags and left, only one team stayed on the arena.

Lin Feng suddenly looked up, the next moment, there was a piercing sound as a Fire Banner descended fiercely before him, raising dust and gravel.

The gravel scattered, Lin Feng’s figure covered by a layer of Spiritual Power Gauze Clothing, stood motionless, eyes calm.

”Damn it, even more arrogant than me.”

Yu Qiao cursed, appearing very angry, yet his tone and expression showed more schadenfreude.

The fiery flag was just forty to fifty centimeters from Lin Feng, seemingly poised to pierce his body.

This was clearly a provocation.

It’s what Yu Qiao wanted but dared not do.

As the Fire Banner descended, figures landed flapping wings on the arena, among them one man floated before Lin Feng, lightly stepping on the banner, slowly crouching to face Lin Feng, looking down and asking indifferently: ”Heard you’re strong?”
