Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 839: Chapter 638: News of the Fourth Plan

When Hong Tao and his two companions entered the meeting room, they realized the meeting’s specifications were extremely high.

To a somewhat excessive degree!

There are thirteen publicly known Emperors in Hua Country, and with them, there were six present. Besides that, there were more than thirty Kings.

Among them, the Minister of the Security Department and the three Deputy Ministers were also present.

Hong Tao was very surprised at this.

He originally thought it was just a small, temporary meeting to mediate the conflict between him and the Avengers Alliance.

Never did he expect it would cause such a big stir.

Although the news of the Avengers Alliance ambushing Alfonso was shocking, it shouldn’t have required so many people to persuade or intimidate him, right?

Hong Tao’s arrival drew everyone’s attention. The looks people cast his way were somewhat intriguing.

”Heh heh.”

After Hong Tao sat down, an old man next to him let out a soft chuckle, with undisguised schadenfreude.

”Damn your mother.”

Hong Tao glanced at the old man beside him and cursed directly, using vulgar language without any courtesy, obviously an old acquaintance.

”You big oaf, my mother died over a hundred years ago. If you have the guts, do it in the ground.”

The old man wasn’t angered by Hong Tao’s insult; instead, he chuckled and then seemingly concerned, asked, ”Heard the Spirit Medium’s found?”

”None of your damn business.”

”Just asking, why so angry? Could it be that you’re furious out of shame?”

”None of your damn business.”

”You’re already up in years, make sure to enjoy your retirement in peace; don’t compete with the young, your body can’t take it.”

Watching the two Emperors bicker was quite amusing to the meeting attendees.

At the same time, they sighed to themselves.

Who would have thought that in just two short years, the Avengers Alliance could make Hong Tao wary.

Although they all knew the Avengers Alliance had a brilliant future, such terrifying growth speed was beyond everyone’s expectation.

A 22-year-old King, who could imagine?

As for their record in ambushing Alfonso, it was even more shocking.

Even now, they still find it hard to believe this news.

Today’s meeting sees Yang Qing, the Guardian, also present.

Compared to others, his mood was more complex, and with the occasional glances and slightly teasing looks from others, he felt uneasy.

”Everyone’s here, let’s start the meeting.”

On the podium stood a middle-aged man in a black suit. His name was Zhou An, an Upper Rank Spirit King, and Deputy Minister of the Security Department.

When he started speaking, the once noisy scene fell into silence.

”Today’s news headline you all know already, so I won’t dwell on it. The news is true, Alfonso is dead, and the United States’ stance is tough. They demand we give an explanation within three days, otherwise, this matter won’t be over.” Zhou An said slowly.

The confirmed news caused a stir.

”What more do they want if it’s not over?”

An Emperor asked with a poor tone.

”Yeah, isn’t this a private grievance? No other mentors were involved.”

”Alice is dead; a life for a life, that’s fair enough.”

”Alice seems not to be dead.”

”Didn’t they say Alfonso crushed her heart? Even if by luck she’s not dead, it counts as dead.”

”Haha, what explanation are they looking for?”

Everyone chimed in, all showing displeasure and righteous anger.

In their view, their own children could be disciplined by them, but outsiders couldn’t bully them.

They couldn’t even curse them.

Moreover, the Avengers Alliance is very important now.

”After all, an Extraordinary died, and Alfonso was a mentor of the King Becoming plan; it’s normal that the United States is not content, but since we are in the right, we don’t have to pay much attention. Today’s meeting isn’t about this matter.”

At this point, it seemed someone turned off the lights, and the room was plunged into darkness.

Accompanied by a soft buzzing sound, a layer of light curtain slowly unfolded.

A video started playing.

The video showed cities with different styles.

”In the past year, according to the World Alliance’s directive, 2,591 Space Gates were closed worldwide, accounting for a quarter of all Space Gates. During this process, civilian casualties exceeded 500 million, and the exact number is no longer possible to calculate.”

”Despite the tough process, the original plan is considered complete.”

”Now appearing is a map, with 31 red dots representing 31 cities spread across various countries.”

”In these cities, there are several eight-star, nine-star level Space Gates.”

”Since the fusion of Space Gates in the Land of Chaos two years ago, the fusion speed of all Space Gates has been continually accelerating. Soon enough, these Space Gates might upgrade to nine-star, ten-star levels.”

”These cities lack the power to guard them. Therefore, it’s imperative to close these Space Gates as quickly as possible, to prevent Abnormal People from breaking in and hiding in the wilderness.”

At this moment, the expressions of everyone were very serious.

Since the start of the King Becoming plan, traces of Abnormal People were successively discovered outside Base Cities, even in some Satellite Cities, among which there are Kings, and even Alien Emperors.

This situation used to be an exception, but it now happens frequently.

This is far more worrying than an Abnormal People attack on a city.

Although their purpose is still unknown, it’s certainly not as simple as a day’s tour or a few days’ visit.

They might be brewing some plan or secretly developing power.

”Generally, these cities are located in relatively remote areas, surrounded by Demon Beasts outside. Transferring residents from within the cities is extremely challenging.”

”The World Alliance has categorized these 31 cities into five danger levels, with five stars being the most dangerous. Among them, eleven are one-star, nine are two-star, six are three-star, three are four-star, and two are five-star.”

Here, Zhou An paused slightly.

Now appearing on the light screen was a city bombarded with artillery, appearing as if in ruins.

”This is Herod City, a danger level five-star city located within France, with a population of around 500,000. There is little defense power within the city, the inhabitants are starving, hundreds die of hunger every day, violent crime is rampant, and order is nearing collapse.”

”Now showing is Yundong City, located on Hua Country’s border, at the junction of the Three Kingdoms with a relatively large population. It originally had 2.18 million residents, possibly now only half remaining. Within the city, there are 19 Space Gates, three of which are nine-star, and the most worrying is.....”

Zhou An’s voice cut off abruptly.

For there was no need for further explanation.

On the devastated streets, there were people with gaunt faces and sallow complexions everywhere, most with black hair and eyes of Eastern descent, but some had blond hair and blue eyes of Western descent. Their expressions were vacant and despairing, and even children who should have been innocent and lively had vacant eyes.

In the crowd, the figures of Abnormal People appeared, even in teams of five.

This means that the city was not only a case of collapsed order but possibly under the control of Abnormal People.

”According to the information I have, the fourth plan of the King Becoming plan this time is to relocate the residents from the 31 cities. We need to cooperate with the students in execution; specific tasks will be announced later, so everyone should prepare in advance. The deadline for the task is two months. After two months, whether civilians are evacuated or not, concentrated bombing of the Space Gates will take place.”

After this sentence, the lighting became bright, and various discussions ensued.

”Cities with nine-star Space Gates probably have Alien Kings lurking within.”

”Be bolder, even Emperors could be present.”

”Yundong City is simply hell-level difficulty! With three nine-star Space Gates and located at the junction of the Three Kingdoms, it is too chaotic. Under the threat of Abnormal People, it requires transferring over a million civilians safely, just thinking about it gives a headache.”

Amidst the discussions, someone asked, ”By the way, how is the Alien Destruction Federation? Any results?”

One year ago, the World Alliance announced a global combat-preparation state, closed more than 2,000 Space Gates, and established the ”Alien Destruction Federation,” gathering researchers and special talents to research and discuss ways to counter the Divine Martial Continent’s invasion.

”Yes, after one year, are there any results?”

Someone echoed.

This is what everyone is most concerned about.

In the past year, countries around the world have been closing Space Gates on a large scale, which only temporarily alleviates pressure and cannot fundamentally solve the problem.

The whole world has placed great hopes on the ”Alien Destruction Federation,” yet after an entire year, no news has come.

”Still trying hard, but no results yet.”

Zhou An shook his head.

After saying a few more words, he declared the meeting adjourned.

At the end of the meeting, Hong Tao was left behind alone, and three individuals took turns giving him a psychological counseling session spanning one hour.

The identities of these three were no lower than his.

Thus, he had to repress his impulse to turn around and leave, keeping a blank face, listening silently.
