Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 815: Chapter 617: Playing Tricks

No one expected that the Avengers Alliance, which had been idling on the ring for three hours, would make such a big move in the last hour.

The crowd looked at each other, barely concealing the shock on their faces.

This is not just about not following the rules of the game; it’s about overturning the table and denying others a chance to eat.

The Avengers Alliance broke the game’s rules repeatedly, clearly causing public outrage.

As four Fire Banners were successively planted on the ring, figures appeared around the ring, silently watching Lin Feng and the others.

The atmosphere was heavy.

These hostile gazes made Dong Yunan and the others tense up, their hearts racing, even their faces slightly pale.

Even the normally carefree Yu Qiao looked serious at this moment.

”So many Kings, how terrifying.”

Dong Yunan whispered while standing behind Yun Kai.

”Such intense killing intent!”

He Jun stood behind Ye Xing, nodding in agreement.

It’s not that they’re timid; the lineup is truly terrifying.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that such a lineup could easily crush an Emperor.

They weren’t even Kings, so facing these hostile eyes, how could they not be nervous?

”So arrogant!”

”Arrogant to the point of being intimidating.”

This time, the four teams guarding the banners for the Avengers Alliance include challengers from the teams led by Alex, Nikita, and Kitahara Sonosuke.

The teams led by these three are recognized as the top three in terms of strength.

Knowing they’re not confident and have no chance of success, the defenders sought to guard the banners.

Only the Avengers Alliance has the audacity to guard the banners.

This extreme arrogance, both scorned and amazed, also makes others wary.

They could have idled until the end, gaining three banners and the reward agreed upon with six teams beforehand.

The gain wouldn’t be low.

But who would have thought they’d dare to be so bold?

The Avengers Alliance isn’t foolish, they must have their reasons and confidence.

”That’s not how the rules are played!”

In mid-air, Zuo Ziyu expressed his sentiment for the second time.

The rules were completely messed up by the Avengers Alliance.

This isn’t how you guard banners!

Guarding one or two teams is understandable, but guarding four teams simultaneously?

Adding to the previous six teams, that’s ten teams.

Out of the total fifty-five teams, you’ve guarded ten!

What are others supposed to ”eat”?

In this situation, the Avengers Alliance is very likely to face repeated challenges from four teams. Even a single failed defense would render all previous efforts futile.

Now, it isn’t the beginning of the competition.

These four teams aren’t the same as before, with members almost all being Kings, unlikely to be easily intimidated and retreat.

Moreover, the Avengers Alliance currently holds 26 Fire Banners.

The temptation is simply too large.

As long as they defeat them, they can become the biggest winner of the third plan.

banners represent a total of 5200 points, knowing that the top-ranked ”King Becoming” has only 1000 points.

points could cultivate five Kings.

Even if a team has 20 members, each can get 260 points.

This temptation is hard to resist.

”What game are they trying to play exactly?”

Gustav curiously asked.

Previously, Lin Feng and his team’s idleness clearly aimed to drag out time on purpose.

The goal was precisely for this plan.

But he couldn’t see any possibility for the Avengers Alliance to succeed in defense.

Where does their confidence come from to dare such an act?

”The rules are indeed meant to be played this way; that’s the correct play!”

Ludy said, showing an amused expression.

Gustav frowned: ”What do you mean?”

Other instructors were also puzzled, while some smiled, clearly guessing something.

”Time.”

Ludy said casually.

This one word made the previously bewildered instructors suddenly understand.

Time!

They hadn’t noticed before, but now, with Ludy’s reminder, they discovered the trick played by the Avengers Alliance.

”What do you mean? Just say it.”

Gustav said irritably.

Others seemed to understand, but he alone couldn’t get it, leaving him feeling rather stupid.

”Haha.”

Ludy chuckled, noticing Gustav’s anxiety, and explained without beating around the bush:

”You might not have noticed, but among the four teams seeking flag protection, although the Avengers Alliance agreed to guard their flags, they didn’t agree in the order of appearance, but rather with a selective arrangement.”

Hearing this, Gustav understood.

He indeed hadn’t noticed.

This explained why Alex’s team hadn’t taken any action so far, their faces still troubled.

Logically, facing the Avengers Alliance, they shouldn’t worry too much.

If memory serves, the team Alex challenged was the third to seek the Avengers Alliance’s flag protection, but Lin Feng deliberately delayed the schedule, making them the first to plant the flag.

This meant Alex’s team had to first decide whether to continue challenging.

Nikita’s team was second.

Kitahara Sonosuke’s team was third.

This arrangement wasn’t random; it was based on strength.

According to flag protection time, Alex needed to decide first. If they choose to challenge, they must go first.

Since the Avengers Alliance was protecting flags for all four teams simultaneously, the process couldn’t be interrupted.

Suppose the remaining three teams also chose to continue challenging, Alex’s team would have to not only defeat the Avengers Alliance but also face three more challenges until successful or defeated.

Just one failure would result in elimination.

In the beginning, strong teams deliberately picked weaker ones to save time and avoid early clashes between titans.

No team was capable of battling three strong teams simultaneously.

Not even Alex’s team.

The Avengers Alliance previously seemed to be lounging around, but in reality, they were stalling for time.

With one hour remaining until the match ended, it was entirely possible to drag a challenge out for an hour.

If only one team continued, the Avengers Alliance needed only to defeat one team.

”I wondered why the Avengers Alliance dared to be so arrogant, but now I get it.”

A student said.

”Alex’s team has thirty seconds left to decide.”

Reimer’s voice sounded.

As expected by the mentors, Alex and his team were in a dilemma.

They didn’t want to give up those 26 flags but couldn’t possibly face challenges from four teams in succession.

”Guard the flag!”

While they were still considering, another team sought the Avengers Alliance’s flag protection.

By now, all students understood the Avengers Alliance’s plan. Teams without the strength to guard their flags had no choice but to seek the Avengers’ protection.

If they didn’t choose protection, teams that gave up further challenges might target them.

This team offered 3 flags, with a reward of 2 flags, bringing the Avengers Alliance’s total flags on the platform to 29.

Seeing another team join, Alex and his team looked even more distressed.

”Time’s up, unable to continue the challenge.”

As the two-minute decision time ended, Alex’s team remained silent.

They were unwilling but didn’t leave.

After Alex’s team reluctantly gave up, the next team to decide was Nikita’s side.

They too remained silent until the match ended.

The third team to decide was Kitahara Sonosuke’s side.

With Alex and Nikita opting out, they visibly relaxed a lot.

”Since Alex and Nikita have opted out, there’s no worry now!”

”Yes, we can drag it to the end of the match!”

”Let’s battle, we’ve long been displeased with the Avengers Alliance.”

Amidst discussions, without much hesitation, a fire banner descended from the sky and planted itself on the platform, soon followed by five more fire banners.

To the gasps of the crowd, Chen Junhao and a group of twenty descended upon the platform.

”Your nemesis has arrived.”

Yu Qiao grinned, speaking to Yun Tianqi.

Yun Tianqi glanced at Zhao Zhou, excitement building in him.

Previously reprimanded by Zhao Zhou, now a King, he finally had a chance to redeem himself.

Zhao Zhou sensed this and also looked at Yun Tianqi, a cold smile on his lips.

Even though Yun Tianqi had become a King, Zhao Zhou didn’t take him seriously.

With Kitahara Sonosuke’s team deciding to continue challenging, the other two teams had one opting out, the other choosing to proceed.

”Take it slow, don’t rush it!”

Lin Feng’s lips curled into a smile.

The plan was very successful.

The top two strongest teams were successfully avoided; now, they only needed to defeat the two teams in front of them to become the biggest winners of the third plan.
