Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 806: Chapter 608: The Third Plan Begins

Early morning.

The sky was just beginning to brighten as Lin Feng got up to wash up.

During these three months of mentor teachings, Lin Feng developed the habit of getting up early.

Stepping out of the room, Yun Kai and the others were already waiting at the door. After greeting each other, the group headed towards the dining hall.

”Both of you are truly glowing today, riding high on success.”

Yu Qiao looked at Ye Xing and Yun Tianqi, showing a slightly playful smile on his face, speaking with a bit of a sarcastic tone.

”I’ve already achieved ’King’ status. Aren’t you afraid of me dealing with you, you little nobody?” Yun Tianqi glanced at Yu Qiao, with a hint of threat in his voice.

Originally, both being Ninth Grade, Yu Qiao was arrogant, but as the strength gap was not large, he couldn’t be easily handled.

Now that he had become a ’King,’ Yu Qiao’s continued arrogance was asking for trouble.

”Indeed, they’re glowing.”

Lin Feng responded in agreement.

Yu Qiao wasn’t wrong; since achieving ’King’ status last night, Ye Xing and Yun Tianqi’s demeanor had indeed changed.

Yun Kai and Ye Qiu were the same.

Or more accurately, with Yun Kai and the four becoming ’Kings,’ the entire Avengers Alliance had a change in their demeanor.

That was the confidence given by strength.

This confidence made them seem to radiate with light, constantly attracting the attention of other students.

”You look more handsome.”

He Jun observed the two’s faces carefully for a moment and said with a smile.

The others also had smiles on their faces.

Yun Tianqi and Ye Xing were already quite attractive, each with their own style, and as All-Stars, they had undergone professional training in both physique and posture.

Even their every movement exuded a certain flair.

In terms of appearance and charisma, they were indeed the best among the group.

”Isn’t it just acting cool?”

Faced with the group’s praise of Yun Tianqi and Ye Xing, Yu Qiao sneered, feeling quite displeased.

There was a bit of sourness to it.

Since Yun Kai and the four became ’Kings,’ Yu Qiao felt his presence in the alliance had diminished further.

Faced with Yun Tianqi’s threat, he was completely unfazed and said mockingly, ”It’s just using Origin Power to become a ’King,’ what’s there to be proud of? Yun Kai and Ye Qiu became ’Kings’ through their own efforts and aren’t arrogant, so why are you? If I had that Origin Power, I’d become a ’King’ too.”

Ye Qiu glanced at Yun Kai, and the two exchanged a look, both smiling but saying nothing.

”Do him in!”

Ye Xing couldn’t stand it anymore, not expecting that Yu Qiao’s verbal jabs would even include him, repeatedly so.

Before Yun Tianqi could make a move, Yu Qiao had already vanished, leaving only a mocking remark, ”You’ve only lived a few more years than me, otherwise you’re nothing!”

”This guy definitely needs dealing with.”

Ye Xing said helplessly.

His words were extremely arrogant and intolerable.

If becoming a ’King’ were so simple, there wouldn’t be so few Kings.

Even though Origin Power is precious, it cannot easily make someone a King.

Given to someone like Yu Qiao, the chances are high that he’d fail to advance.

While arrogant, his words rang familiar, for when he and Yun Tianqi joined the Avengers Alliance, hesitating over Lin Feng’s invitation, Yu Qiao had said the same thing.

Back then, they were already ten of the Glory Alliance All-Stars, while Yu Qiao was just a Fifth Grade.

So, Yu Qiao’s arrogance never changed.

”If you have guts, don’t run.”

”If you can, come catch me!”

”Damn it!”

For the daily bickering between Yu Qiao and Yun Tianqi, everyone was already used to it, showing no reaction and letting them perform.

”Congratulations on becoming a ’King.’

”Morning!”

”Heading for breakfast, are you?”

On the way to the dining hall, occasionally there were students who came up to greet them, full of enthusiasm.

Before this, thanks to their glorious achievements, the Avengers Alliance was always quite popular, and the vast majority of students held a good impression of them.

However, while they held them in regard, they didn’t truly have them in mind, even with their confirmed Ninth Grade strength.

But even among Ninth Grades, there are worlds of differences. Becoming a ’King’ is no easy feat.

But who could have thought, even before the third phase began, Yun Kai, Ye Qiu, Ye Xing, and Yun Tianqi had all successively become ’Kings.’

In the past month, students becoming ’Kings’ wasn’t unusual, with new ’Kings’ every day.

Out of 1,100 students, considering those masking their strength, there were already over a hundred ’Kings.’

But note that Yun Kai and his peers were still very young and belonged to the same alliance, with seventeen members participating in the King Becoming plan, all with the potential to become ’Kings’ too.....

Now, nobody dared to underestimate the Avengers Alliance, not just the students, even the mentors were the same.

After a simple breakfast, the group followed the team toward the expansive square.

Yesterday marked the last day of mentor-led training. The point exchange list was already announced last night, and a text message at five o’clock this morning informed them that the third plan would commence today.

Students who have not become Kings hope the mentorship will continue, allowing them to use various training facilities daily and thus breakthrough to become Kings.

Even those who have become Kings wish for this; those training facilities significantly help enhance the power of a King.

However, reality is harsh.

Every day, the resources consumed by over a thousand students amount to an astronomical figure, and three months is the limit. Unlimited supply is impossible.

When everyone arrived at the square, there was not much waiting. As time reached seven o’clock, the mentors started to appear one after another.

Today, Alice wore a dark red long dress, the hem resembling a cluster of flames, accentuating her snow-white skin.

She glanced in the direction of the Avengers, a hint of color flashing in her eyes.

Yun Kai and four others becoming Kings added a glimmer of hope to the originally desperate situation, albeit a faint one that could be easily obscured and disappear at any moment.

As per usual, Igor introduced the competition rules.

He stood in the air, five meters off the ground, looking down at the students with various expressions, and said in a deep voice, ”King Becoming’s third plan: Capture the Banner.”

Along with his words, the ground began to shake violently, and platforms, three meters high, rose from the ground. There were a total of 55 platforms distributed evenly around the students.

”The three months of mentor-led training have ended. 37 mentors, each with 30 students, totaling 1,100 people.”

”Last night, the point exchange list was published on the official website.”

”The rules for the third plan are simple. There are 55 platforms around you, meaning 55 teams. Each team has 20 students, combining freely.”

”Each team possesses a Fire Banner, which can be exchanged for 200 points.”

”Between the platforms, challenges can occur, known as ’Platform Battle.’ The battle mode is one-on-one; each sends ten people, losing participants step down, and winners continue to face challenges. Whoever remains till the end wins. The victor captures the Fire Banner; if the Banner is taken, platform guard fails, and students are eliminated early.”

”There are two situations students need to be aware of.”

”The first situation: the challenger has more Fire Banners than the defender. Suppose the challenger has seven Fire Banners, and the defender only has two.”

The challenge succeeds, and the defender is eliminated. The two Fire Banners go to the challenger.

If the challenge fails, the challenger can only keep one Fire Banner from the original team, and the other six Fire Banners will go to the defender.

Thus, the risk and rewards in challenging need to be considered.”

”The second situation: the challenger has fewer Fire Banners than the defender.”

If the challenger has one Fire Banner and the defender has three Fire Banners, a successful challenge only wins one Fire Banner from the defender.”

If a challenged team feels there’s no hope in guarding the platform, they can seek other teams to help protect the Banner. The method is simple: place the Banner on the other team’s platform until the end of the match. The team requesting help with guarding the Banner cannot participate in the battle between the two teams. The challenger has the right to decide whether to continue the challenge against a team requesting Banner protection.”

”It’s important to note, a team helping protect a Banner, if it fails, will be directly eliminated. All Banners will belong to the challenger. Protecting banners involves risks, and choices should be made cautiously.”

”The competition lasts for five hours.”

”At the end of the competition, teams with no Banners are eliminated. Teams with only one Banner receive no point rewards.”

”The team topping the leaderboard receives an additional reward of 1,000 points.”

After Igor’s introduction of the rules, there was no unnecessary talk.

At this moment, the students’ expressions varied; some were excited, some helpless, and others desperate.

”It’s a big fish eating a small fish, winner-takes-all scenario!”

Dong Yunan’s face revealed a hint of joy.

She hadn’t rested well last night, worrying all night about being eliminated.

Although participating in King Becoming’s plan and persisting till now was already a pleasant surprise, seeing her companions around her one by one becoming Kings, a strong desire surged in Dong Yunan’s heart.

Listening to the third plan’s rules, her tense heart instantly calmed down, and a smile reappeared on her face.

Third Plan: Capture the Banner.

This plan is unfriendly to students with average prowess. Students can freely combine, naturally leading to Kings allying with Kings, strong teaming with strong, to capture more Fire Banners and gain more points.

The value of points is indisputable; the items on the point exchange list are enough to drive students, even Kings, crazy.

Fortunately, she is a member of the Avengers Alliance, so she doesn’t need to worry about these things.

”Teams can also seek help to protect banners, so if luck is good, won’t be eliminated. There are more choices, increasing suspense and enjoyment,” Lin Feng sighed.

According to the competition rules, it’s inevitable for students to form strong alliances. However, each platform can only have twenty students.

1,110 students, hundreds have become Kings.

It means that no team can be invincible.

If the challenge fails, even if the number of Fire Banners is relatively high, only one Banner can be kept, losing all previously acquired Banners, making prior efforts go to waste.

If the number of Fire Banners is less than the opponent, direct elimination occurs.

Therefore, the challenge carries a high risk.

Making the wrong decision might lead to previous efforts being wasted.

But without challenging, there’s no way to obtain high points. Without high points, there’s no way to acquire the top-ranked treasures on the point exchange list.

The team topping the points leaderboard receives an extra 1,000 points reward.

1,000 points are equivalent to five Fire Banners, earning five Fire Banners for free — it’s an irresistible lure.

This is not just a reward but a catalyst because teams can choose to protect banners, making all teams forced to continuously challenge or merge.

Merging simultaneously faces challenges.

Various uncertainties ensure the third plan will be filled with suspense, having multiple possibilities and being very exciting, far more thrilling than the mentor contest.
