I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 242: Chapter 151: Guo Tao: How about Old Wang teaches him a lesson, and I’m up next?

Stepping out of the club, Gu Nan realized for the first time just how important connections were.

If it weren’t for his chance acquaintance with Wang Junhe and Guo Xiao, two wealthy and influential men, he would’ve just had to stand there and take the insults today.

He wouldn’t tolerate that kind of behavior from anyone, not even Yi Chen’s own mother.

Of course, the main reason he wanted to teach them a lesson was because their relationship was already strained.

Then again, if they had been on good terms, they wouldn’t have cursed him out like that. Calling him a ”fishmonger” over and over again was truly grating to Gu Nan.

Having realized the importance of connections, on his way to the shore, he called Sea King to tell him that the over-two-meter-long blue-body Large-spot Grouper would arrive tomorrow afternoon, delivered alive and well.

This man was a tycoon worth over a hundred million. It could be useful to have a good relationship with him later. Even if he never needed a favor, it was always a good idea to know such people and befriend them.

So, Gu Nan decided that tomorrow he would first go to the shipyard to order an offshore fishing boat, and then order some shrimp and crab pots.

As a seafood blogger, Sea King wasn’t just interested in big catches; he was also fascinated by strange and unusual things. With the pots, Gu Nan might be able to catch some marine creatures from the local waters that would pique his interest.

It couldn’t be helped. For now, this was all Gu Nan had to offer.

After making the call, he went to a tackle shop to buy some Antarctic krill, then hauled two boxes of ice from the store, and headed to the docks to take his boat out.

It took about two hundred of his Daily Guaranteed Catches, but he finally completed the last two elite missions for the Fengqi Coast, earning another reward of ten thousand Gold Coins.

He had almost earned back the Gold Coins he had spent on the caviar.

After using up his daily chances for the Fengqi Coast, he moved on to Seven-Star Rock.

He attached a jig, let it sink to the bottom, and then used a daily chance. He successfully unlocked two new fish species: the Australian black bream and the leaf-lip snapper.

They weren’t particularly remarkable fish and were rather obscure, so Gu Nan put them in his aquarium for the time being. Whether he would sell them later remained to be seen.

He only sold popular seafood from the Fengqi Coast, and the same principle would apply to catches from Seven-Star Rock.

But since he had gone out early tonight, it was only a little past eleven o’clock.

Gu Nan didn’t plan on heading back so soon. He cast his line again and continued to fish, hoping to unlock all the elite species in his index and open up the third map as quickly as possible.

Without his special abilities, getting a bite wasn’t so easy. Gu Nan was jigging the bottom for a long time before he finally felt a tug on his line.

The tug didn’t feel very strong, so he figured it wasn’t a big fish. He lifted the rod with one hand and started cranking the handle to reel it in quickly.

But after only two turns, the handle suddenly locked up.

Confused, Gu Nan put more force into lifting the rod, which immediately bent into a deep arch. The thing at the bottom of the water didn’t budge an inch.

His face fell. ’Did I just hook Blue-Star?’

It had been a long time since he’d gotten snagged on the bottom. He didn’t expect to get so unlucky today.

There was nothing for it. Gu Nan gripped the rod with both hands and heaved, trying to either break the hook or snap the leader line.

Sometimes, having gear that was too good was a problem. The hook didn’t straighten, and the leader line didn’t break.

Gu Nan sighed in resignation. Fortunately, he had plenty of Gold Coins now. Line and bait could be replenished without having to be repurchased, so it wouldn’t cost much.

But just then, the rod tip suddenly sprang up a little before bending down hard again.

Gu Nan’s eyes lit up. ’This isn’t a snag! I’ve hooked something incredibly heavy.’

’Could it be sunken treasure or something?’

Gu Nan tried reeling in the line again and found that this time, he could. It just felt incredibly heavy.

As the object from the depths revealed its true form, a giant, red-and-white crab came into view.

Its larger claw was thicker than Gu Nan’s arm, though one claw was bigger than the other.

’This is an Emperor Crab, a specialty of Australia!’

Gu Nan was ecstatic. ’There really are Emperor Crabs, and it’s not even a BOSS!’

As long as it wasn’t a BOSS, he could farm them in large quantities. This thing was a hot commodity that was always in high demand. Even though many high-end restaurants might only prepare one or two per day, if every restaurant in Bazhou City knew his Emperor Crabs were big and meaty, they would definitely choose to buy from him first.

Price wouldn’t be an issue at all. Restaurants didn’t worry too much about the cost of ingredients, since the customers were the ones footing the bill.

Due to their scarcity, Emperor Crabs were much rarer than King Crabs. With his hotel connections, he would have no trouble selling them.

Gu Nan quickly scooped the Emperor Crab up with his landing net. Emperor Crabs were slow-moving, so he just had to be careful not to get pinched.

This Emperor Crab was massive; lying on the deck, it looked like a large boulder. He took out an electronic scale to weigh it—weighing in at nearly twenty pounds.

He stored it in his inventory space and checked the index. It was a five-star sea creature, but only categorized as ”Large.”

’If this was Legendary-grade, wouldn’t it weigh thirty, or even more than forty pounds?’

’Excellent! This is great. A crab that big... the whole family wouldn’t be able to finish it!’

Catching the Emperor Crab had put Gu Nan in a fantastic mood. It was a pity there was only one. As a huge fan of crab, he couldn’t help but wish...

ZZZT—

The rod suddenly felt like it was snagged on the bottom again. His eyes lit up. ’Could the Giant Spider Crab incident be happening all over again?’

But this crab was much smaller; Gu Nan lifted it up with ease.

When the Emperor Crab reached the surface, he could see it was significantly smaller than the last one.

He weighed it with the electronic scale: just over seven pounds. ’This one’s for the pot.’

Gu Nan was hungry after fishing all night. He took out a pot, set it on the deck to boil some water, and put the crab on ice to dispatch it humanely. Soon, he would have it Steamed.

It was a good thing he’d bought that steamer pot earlier; otherwise, this Emperor Crab wouldn’t even have fit inside.
