I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 225: Chapter 144: Fishing for King Salmon at the Fish Raft (2)

’This Special Fishing Ground Card seems really useful!’

’The game mainly provides wild fish. It doesn’t have many of the popular farmed fish that sell well, so this is a good way to fill that gap.’

After six hours of fishing, he had enough king salmon to last him a long time.

Junhao Hotel and Zhao Jie’s Japanese restaurant both had their own supply channels for king salmon, so there was no need for them to buy from him.

The king salmon entered the Freshness Pavilion, where they were all bled, their bellies were cut open, and the salmon roe inside was removed and cleaned.

[Ding! Spend Gold Coins to cure and package the salmon roe? Cost: one hundred Gold Coins per pound.]

’Huh, I have to spend my own money?’

However, salmon roe did need special processing before it could be canned and sold. One hundred Gold Coins per pound wasn’t too expensive, so Gu Nan confirmed.

From just six king salmon, he harvested nearly ten pounds of roe—an average of over a pound and a half per fish.

King salmon roe was more expensive than the meat. Domestically, just half a pound could sell for two hundred yuan.

’Still, salmon roe over rice is a delicacy. The roe processed by the Freshness Pavilion won’t have a fishy smell. I’ll have to try eating it that way sometime.’

Six hours passed in a flash. When Gu Nan reappeared in his room, he found he was only mentally exhausted and wanted to sleep, unlike the previous times he’d gone foraging, which had knocked him out completely.

He checked the king salmon in the Freshness Pavilion. He had caught ninety-three in total, which was only about fifteen fish per hour. The efficiency was indeed much lower than before.

The main reason was that the lure rod was too soft. Gu Nan was trying to brute-force it, but the rod made it impossible to reel the fish in quickly. As a result, each fish took several minutes.

Of the fish he’d caught, 80% were around seventy centimeters long. After being de-roed, each weighed roughly eight to nine pounds.

There weren’t many large ones. The biggest was only a Meter Level fish, likely weighing over twenty pounds, and it held three to four pounds of roe by itself.

Notably, all the salmon he caught had roe, amounting to over 120 pounds in total. At the going rate, the roe alone could sell for over 45,000 yuan.

The meat would probably sell for a little over one hundred thousand, bringing the total to one hundred fifty thousand. ’This Special Fishing Ground Card is definitely valuable.’

Gu Nan selected ten of the seventy-centimeter king salmon for shipment, planning to put them up for sale in the shop first to see how they did.

He also sent out ten boxes of the salmon roe, which had been processed and packaged by the Freshness Pavilion.

Gu Nan didn’t know how long other sellers’ roe could be preserved, but the roe from the Freshness Pavilion contained no chemical additives, so its shelf life was only ten days.

That was why he didn’t send much. If it sold out and customers wanted more, they could pre-order it.

The chilled fish in the store was handled the same way. He never stocked too much; customers needing larger quantities could place advance orders.

Live seafood, on the other hand, could be kept for a long time, so he would send a bit more of that.

Content, he closed his eyes and went to sleep. When he woke up again, it was already ten in the morning.

Gu Nan washed up and headed to the seafood shop. Not only were the king salmon and roe arriving today, but so was that 1.9-meter giant grouper.

As luck would have it, just as he arrived at the shop, he saw delivery workers using a small crane to unload a huge foam box that was nearly two meters long.

Yi Chen breathed a sigh of relief when she saw him. The king salmon and roe had been unloaded first, and she was still trying to figure out how to price and sell them, as customers were already asking.

The foam box was open, revealing the king salmon inside, their bellies already cut open.

Perhaps the smell of the fish caught Gulu’s attention. In that moment, the temptation of a delicious meal made the kitten forget all of Dahuang’s lessons. It rushed over and perched on the edge of the box, peering inside.

After spotting the fish, it reached out a paw and swiped a few times, but being a kitten, its paws were too short to reach.

Yi Chen’s heart skipped a beat when she saw this. Just as she was about to pick the kitten up, Dahuang—who had spotted the scene—charged over with a speed that defied its chubby body. It pinned Gulu underneath it and nipped its head a few times, though not hard.

”Well, look at that! Your big orange cat is so smart, it even knows to stop the little one,” a nearby customer said in amazement.

Gu Nan smiled at the sight. ”This orange cat has been living at the seafood market for a long time. It knows how to please the shop owners around here, so it’s very well-behaved.”

Another male customer heard this and laughed. ”Sounds like it knows how to guarantee itself a full meal every day. That’s a good cat.”

”Are you here for king salmon? These are from New Zealand, just arrived,” Gu Nan asked, walking over to the fish box after seeing Yi Chen carry Gulu away.

”How much is it per pound?”

”This is one hundred and twenty a pound.”

”Can you go any lower?”

”Can’t go lower on king salmon. This is the going rate everywhere.”

It wasn’t like before, when Gu Nan would have been willing to lower the price just to sell more.

Now, although his daily business fluctuated, he was doing infinitely better than someone earning a regular salary. Whether he offered a discount or not depended entirely on his mood.

Regulars might get a small discount, but new faces were out of luck.

”Boss, I’ve seen other places cut up the fish to sell by the piece. Why don’t you cut one up so we can all buy a little?”

”The prices for sashimi, belly, and head are all different. It’s too much trouble. Never mind.”

Seeing that Gu Nan wouldn’t budge, two of the customers shook their heads and left the shop. The other one, however, clearly wasn’t short on cash and ended up picking out a whole fish.

After seeing the caviar Gu Nan had put out, he asked for a box of that as well.

Gu Nan loved customers like this. When ringing him up, he knocked off the odd seventy-something yuan from the total, leaving the customer stunned.

This was also why he planned to open a shop at the International Seafood Market. The customers there weren’t worried about money and wouldn’t haggle over every penny like the ones here.
