I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 212: Chapter 140: First Time Holding Hands and Watching a Movie

”Are you okay?”

After leaving Zhao Jie’s Japanese restaurant, the group went their separate ways.

Gu Nan wasn’t in a hurry to go back. Instead, he and Yi Chen were strolling the streets of Bazhou City.

”I’m fine. It’s all thanks to you. Otherwise, I would’ve been in big trouble tonight.”

”You... you should really stop provoking people like that. You’ve really gotten on An Jun’s nerves this past week. It got to the point where he was following me every day, thinking I was going to meet you.”

Her words sounded a bit reproachful, but that wasn’t Yi Chen’s true intention. She was just disappointed that she hadn’t found a chance to go out to sea alone with Gu Nan.

There was also a hint of complaint. She had made her feelings quite clear, but he still hadn’t made a move, which left her feeling rather helpless.

It wasn’t that Yi Chen lacked the courage to be proactive; she would occasionally take the initiative at the shop. But as a girl, aside from wanting to be demure, she also didn’t want to seem too easy.

The main reason was the lack of any sense of urgency. If another pretty girl were to appear by Gu Nan’s side, she definitely wouldn’t be this calm.

”Haha, this back-and-forth is actually pretty fun.” Gu Nan had no intention of stopping his pranks. If a good opportunity arose, he’d do it again.

Ye Jing was okay. His personality was more stable, and he didn’t get worked up over things, so there wasn’t much fun in teasing him.

But seeing An Jun suffer brought him immense joy. It was his second greatest pleasure after fishing.

”I might not be able to help you next time!” Yi Chen rolled her eyes in exasperation.

Coming to the Japanese restaurant had been her suggestion, and she’d had Zhao Jiajia help out. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so easy to pull off the deception.

Yi Chen looked beautiful today. She wore a pair of small black leather shoes, and white mid-calf socks covering her ankles made her look very delicate.

A plaid pleated skirt paired with a light-yellow cartoon t-shirt made her look as adorable as a little sparrow against the bustling nightscape. Her steps were cheerful and light, and she radiated a youthful, captivating aura.

Every passerby on the street was drawn to her, men and women alike, apparently surprised to see such an elfin creature appear tonight.

”I’m lucky to have you!” A smile played on Gu Nan’s lips as he took the initiative to hold Yi Chen’s small hand for the first time.

After spending these past few days together, he had basically come to understand her personality.

She was a good girl, gentle and considerate, and a blank slate when it came to romance.

For a man, choosing a wife is different from choosing a girlfriend, aside from those who get together purely for love.

A businessman needs a woman who can help him in his career; appearance and personality can be overlooked in comparison. That’s why the wives of many successful men may not be beautiful, but they are definitely highly capable.

A professional needs a woman who can help him climb the ladder, while an ordinary person just wants to find a gentle, considerate woman who can manage a home.

He was very lucky. He had found her.

He had seen all of Yi Chen’s efforts and the feelings she occasionally revealed for him during this time. Her current complaints, which seemed like nagging, were actually her way of showing concern for him. This moved Gu Nan, even though he had originally planned to take things slowly.

This kind of feeling, born from a hazy ambiguity, held an indescribable beauty.

The reason Gu Nan hadn’t made a move was mainly because he felt something was still missing in his heart. Pursuing her rashly would be irresponsible to Yi Chen.

Having been in a relationship before, he understood that feeling of ignoring the rest of the world for her. Now, he knew that seed had begun to sprout, so he took the initiative.

At this moment, even if Pan Yourong were to tempt him again, Gu Nan knew he could resolutely refuse her. The Power of emotions could be quite formidable sometimes.

He was very happy—happy that he had once again found that original, pure feeling of first love.

Suddenly having her small hand held, Yi Chen seemed startled, her breathing quickening.

She felt her heart pound faster and faster, her head growing dizzy. ’How could I not be dizzy? I can barely breathe!’

It was so sudden, catching her completely off guard.

”Want to go see a movie?”

”Mmm~”

Yi Chen responded with a soft murmur. She felt like her legs had turned to jelly and she could barely stand.

Going to the movies on a date wasn’t actually the best choice.

Things like escape rooms or big amusement parks offered more interaction, but they could take their time. There was no rush.

When two people who liked each other were together, everything they did felt special.

Soon, it was 10:30 PM. By the time the movie was over, neither of them had any idea what they had just watched. All they knew was that their hands had been clasped the entire time, fingers intertwined.

By the time Gu Nan drove Yi Chen home, it was already past eleven.

Standing at her doorstep, she felt a sense of unwillingness to part for the first time.

Gu Nan could tell from her expression. If he were to hug and kiss her right now, he knew Yi Chen definitely wouldn’t refuse.

But he would rather accompany her step by step, letting her slowly experience all the beautiful things about love and giving her a relationship with no regrets.

Gu Nan smiled and ruffled Yi Chen’s hair.

”I’ll open the shop tomorrow, so you can sleep in. And say hi to your grandma for me.”

He figured that after everything that happened tonight, Yi Chen would probably be too excited to sleep. After all, the same thing had happened to him before—he’d been so thrilled he couldn’t sleep all night.

Yi Chen nodded obediently. ”Drive safe.”

”Okay, I’m heading out then. See you tomorrow.”

”See you tomorrow!”

After leaving Yi Chen’s house, while driving back, Gu Nan suddenly felt a sense of relief.

’It’s a good thing nothing happened with Pan Yourong last time,’ he thought. ’Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t be able to face Yi Chen so calmly right now.’

When he got home, Gu Nan received a text message.

It was from Yi Chen. It only contained two words: ”Good night.”

Gu Nan smiled and texted her ”Good night” back.

In reality, Yi Chen regretted sending ”Good night” the moment she hit send.
