I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 224: Chapter 144: Angling for King Salmon at the Fish Raft

To maximize the effect of the last card, he’d have to wait. The best time would probably be during the New Year.

However, the Trial Card and the Special Fishing Ground Card did pique Gu Nan’s curiosity.

He checked the Trial Card first, but... Function not yet available. Requires unlocking all entries in the Seven-Star Rock Index to use!

”...”

Gu Nan was speechless. It was another item card he had to save for later.

In the end, he could only look at the Special Fishing Ground Card. After reading its description, the corner of his mouth twitched. ’This seems a little weird.’

Simply put, the Special Fishing Ground Card could randomly transport him to a special fishing spot for six hours, specifically for catching farmed fish.

’What’s the point of farmed fish? They’re no match for wild... Wait.’ A thought suddenly struck Gu Nan. ’Some farmed fish aren’t necessarily worse than wild ones. In fact, some are even better, like King Salmon and mackerel.’

Wild mackerel sold for only about ten yuan per jin on the market. They were cheap mainly because they were small, lean, and lacked oil. The farmed variety, on the other hand, was much more expensive.

Gu Nan had eaten Pacific Mackerel, also known as Chub Mackerel, at Zhao Jie’s Japanese restaurant before. It was rich in oil and had a truly excellent texture.

It wasn’t expensive either, making it a fish that offered great value for its price.

’Catching this kind of farmed fish wouldn’t be bad at all.’

’Should I give it a try?’

Gu Nan first took out his Seven-Star Fishing Rod and used up his daily attempts for the day. Then, he steered the boat back to shore, stored his rod and tackle in his game inventory, and headed home.

He was back pretty early. He had finished all his important tasks, leaving only the dozens of daily attempts for the Fengqi Coast, which he could complete whenever he had free time.

After a shower, he lay comfortably in bed and used the only card he could at the moment: the Special Fishing Ground Card.

「The scene shifted.」

Gu Nan found himself suddenly by the sea. The water was so clear he could see right to the bottom; the marine environment was clearly excellent.

He scanned his surroundings and realized he seemed to be on an island.

He was in an inner bay of the island, with a stream flowing nearby.

But the shore was lined with many net enclosures, looking just like fish pens.

He looked around. There was no one.

’Makes sense, though. How could there be other people in a scene provided by the game?’

Gu Nan walked curiously toward the fish pens. Just as he arrived, the sound of his footsteps seemed to attract the attention of the fish in the enclosures, and a salmon suddenly leaped out of the water.

’Huh, it’s salmon. Not bad. They usually sell for fifty to sixty yuan per jin.’

The main thing was that it sold well. Not only was it popular with individual customers, but it was also an essential item for all sorts of Japanese and sashimi restaurants.

’Six hours... If I don’t get kicked out of this space from exhaustion, I could definitely catch a ton with an electric reel.’

Knowing what kind of fish it was, Gu Nan wasted no more time and quickly tried to take his fishing rod out of his inventory... but he couldn’t.

Turning his head, he saw a fishing rod standing at the end of the walkway between the pens, with a foam box next to it.

He pouted. ’Looks like I can’t cheat with my electric reel after all.’

He walked over and picked up the rod. It was a 3.2-meter lure rod with a minnow lure attached. ’Looks like I’ll have to reel it in manually.’

Gu Nan picked up the rod and cast. The minnow flew high into the air, then fell into the water with a PLOP.

He slowly turned the handle, reeling the minnow back in bit by bit.

The splash of the minnow had already caught the attention of the fish below. Gu Nan immediately saw a large school of them appear at the surface. They all looked the same, and were even roughly the same size.

Farmed fish really were different from wild ones. As long as there was food, they would bite without hesitation, completely lacking any sense of caution.

And just like that, after only two cranks of the reel, Gu Nan felt the line go taut. One of the salmon had swallowed the minnow.

The line was pulled out, the reel letting out a ”ZZZZT” sound. ’This feels pretty good!’

The fish didn’t feel particularly big, but as Gu Nan rapidly turned the handle, he was still able to pull it in with relative ease.

After a few minutes, a salmon about seventy centimeters long was pulled up in front of him.

Gu Nan hadn’t really studied salmon much. After all, as a Chinese angler from the East China region, where would he have ever fished for one of these?

Thus, he didn’t recognize the specific type of this salmon. The only salmon he’d ever seen were already fillets.

’Just as you’d expect from a farmed fish. It’s so fat. Its belly is bulging, like it’s full of roe.’

Gu Nan scooped up the fish with a landing net, removed the minnow, and gently placed it into the foam box.

Once the foam box was full, the fish inside would be sent to the Chilled Storage.

Farmed fish weren’t hard to catch at all. They were biting as fast as if he were using his guaranteed-catch attempts. In just over twenty minutes, Gu Nan had caught another five, all of them a very uniform seventy to eighty centimeters in length.

Six salmon filled the foam box and were transferred to the Chilled Storage.

Now, the names of the fish were displayed: New Zealand Pacific Salmon.

!!!

’Pacific Salmon... isn’t that New Zealand King Salmon?’

’So I’ve suddenly been brought to Stewart Island?’

The only place in New Zealand that farms King Salmon is in the pristine waters south of Stewart Island, specifically in the brackish water near the coast.

The farming process seemed very scientific. Gu Nan didn’t understand the details, but he knew this stuff was expensive. The market price was one hundred and twenty yuan per jin, or at least a hundred even on the cheap side.

He could actually order King Salmon himself; it wasn’t that difficult. He could even place an order for a single fish.

It was just that his shop hadn’t been open for long. He had only recently built up a base of regular customers, and no one had asked him about things like King Salmon yet.
