I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 205: Chapter 137: Continuously Unlocking New Index Entries

’I’ll keep fishing. If I get a lot of them, I’ll cook one up.’

For a while after that, Gu Nan didn’t catch any new species. He did, however, get a good number of Australian Crystal Crabs. While the catch rate wasn’t as high as it was for the Giant Spider Crabs, he could still pull in about three for every ten guaranteed-catch attempts.

By the time he used up all his attempts, he had a total of seven crystal crabs in his aquarium.

However, the shells of three of them were slightly yellowish, and a question mark appeared in the field guide.

These yellowish ones were actually the same species as the white ones. But perhaps due to geographic location or water purity, the Australian Crystal Crabs with yellowish shells were of lower quality.

The description said their texture and taste were slightly inferior, but Gu Nan had never eaten one, so he wouldn’t know.

But there was a significant price difference between the two. The pure white ones were three hundred fifty a pound, while the yellowish ones were nearly half that at only two hundred.

Seeing this, Gu Nan felt the yellowish crystal crabs deserved four stars at most. It was only because they were the same species that they got dragged up to five stars.

Unfortunately, though he fished until 2:30 in the morning, he only managed to unlock one more species: the Australian Lobster, a creature most people were very familiar with.

Since these were all seafood from Australia, it would have been strange if the Australian Lobster *didn’t* show up.

So Gu Nan easily guessed that the Emperor Crab would surely appear later. He just didn’t know if the creature would be treated as a boss or appear in the elite field guide.

Having completed his daily tasks, Gu Nan wiped himself down with fresh water, washed up a bit, and returned to the cabin to prepare for some tidal foraging.

Just then, the satellite phone suddenly rang.

A call on the satellite phone usually meant something important was happening. He quickly answered it, only to be met with the sound of An Jun cursing up a storm.

”Gu Nan, you son of a bitch! You actually tricked me into eating oilfish! I was wondering why you gave me diapers. When I was leaving with a girl after drinks tonight, I left a yellow ring on the chair...”

”Holy shit! I’ve never been so embarrassed in my entire life! You just wait, you bastard. This isn’t over! When you get back, I’m gonna kill you...”

Gu Nan hung up before he could finish. ’Tsk, tsk. I even gave him diapers. How could he still be so unprepared?’

’He’s been partying every day since his girlfriend left the country. Serves him right!’

But after hanging up, Gu Nan didn’t go straight back to his bedroom. Instead, he waited for the next call.

Sure enough, the satellite phone rang again the very next second. Gu Nan answered it as before.

An Jun: ”I...”

BEEP BEEP BEEP...

He answered...

An Jun: ”You...”

BEEP BEEP BEEP...

He answered...

An Jun: ”Fuck...”

BEEP BEEP BEEP...

He answered...

An Jun: ”Don’t you da—”

BEEP BEEP BEEP...

Looking at the disconnected call, Gu Nan remarked with mock seriousness, ”Not bad. He actually managed to get three words out. I still need to work on my reaction speed.”

But this time, he waited for five or six minutes, and the phone remained silent.

Gu Nan shook his head in regret and put the satellite phone back. ’Looks like I’ll have to find another chance to practice my reaction speed in the future.’

Returning to his bedroom, he lay down and chose to enter the once-a-week tidal foraging map. He decided to use this opportunity first, lest he get busy or forget, wasting the chance completely.

In contrast to An Jun’s carelessness, Ye Jing was much more cautious.

He had specifically looked up what kind of fish would require diapers and found information about oilfish.

He had tried calling Gu Nan a few times back then, but he was always out of service range, so there was nothing he could do.

Besides, he wasn’t as furious as An Jun. After all, with the matter of the cat, he had pulled a small prank on Gu Nan himself.

He just hadn’t expected that the orange cat in Gu Nan’s shop was not only smart but also perceptive. It was currently teaching the tuxedo cat the difference between having one full meal and having a lifetime of them.

Once the lesson was learned, the tuxedo cat might still act up, but whether it would be the same as it was in the pet store was hard to say.

He was also looking forward to seeing Gu Nan’s embarrassed fury in a few days!

Having obediently put on a diaper, Ye Jing was fast asleep by 2:30 AM, lost in a world filled with oil, oil, and more oil.

Gu Nan was also in a special world at this moment, and the location was different from last time.

This time, he was on a mudflat in a Mangrove Forest. Judging by the surroundings and the various large holes, today’s main attraction was obvious.

What tools did you need to catch a big Sri Lankan mud crab?

Gu Nan had never done it, so he didn’t know.

But the game had given him a shovel, clearly for digging.

A long hook for pulling out the mud crabs. And zip ties to keep them from pinching people.

Entering the tidal foraging map always put him there at low tide. This time, he didn’t even have shoes, and his entire foot sank into the mud. Fortunately, it wasn’t too difficult to walk, as he didn’t sink in too deep.

About five meters ahead of him was a fallen tree trunk. He walked over, looked down, and saw that the trunk was hollow in the middle.

’This is a perfect home for a mud crab.’ There were even a few empty conch shells at the opening of the trunk.

Gu Nan knelt in the mud and peered inside, spotting a top-quality mud crab that looked as if it had tattoos, armor, and a pair of broadswords. One look at its size told him it was over five pounds.

His eyes lit up. The last time he went foraging, he had caught some small Spotted Prawn Shrimp, but most of them had been as large as his forearm.

Here, the very first mud crab was over five pounds. This meant he might be able to complete the order for the Junhao Hotel’s wedding banquet today.

Three hours was a tight schedule. Gu Nan wasted no more time and quickly reached in with the long iron hook to pull the big mud crab out.

The mud crab was extremely aggressive after being hooked out of the trunk. It suddenly raised its large pincer and snapped upward, as if trying to grab his hand.

Even though his hand was some distance away, he was startled by its sudden movement. He tried to dodge, but pushed off with too much force and ended up sitting right down on the mudflat.

Seeing this, the mud crab started to crawl away, but it wasn’t fast.

Gu Nan quickly scrambled forward, using the hook to distract it while pressing down hard on the back of its shell with his other hand.

He successfully pinned it, let go of the hook, and grabbed the crab with both hands.

But catching it wasn’t enough. This time, there was no large bucket, nor a small one.

Gu Nan had to bind the crab’s large pincers with a zip tie. Only after confirming that it couldn’t pinch anyone could he directly transfer the crab into his aquarium.

The aquarium would automatically clean the mud off the mud crab’s body and purify the silt from within its gills.
