I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 217: Chapter 141: Cleverly Catching the Regular Boss of Seven-Star Rock (Part 3)

Removing the metal jig, Gu Nan deliberately lifted the fish and was surprised by its weight. It felt like it was well over a hundred jin!

A fish around 1.3 meters long actually weighed over a hundred jin. Just how fat could this fish be?

Curious, Gu Nan took out the old electronic scale on the boat and used the crane to place the fish on it.

129.7 jin. Damn, was that one jin per centimeter?

’As expected of a fish classified as a BOSS. This weight is impressive.’

After storing the fish in the chilled hold, Gu Nan opened his Atlas to check.

The Atlas reward plus the extra BOSS bonus provided two thousand Gold Coins. His total Gold Coins had now reached 39,000, one step closer to 50,000.

Longbody Sawperch, a premium deep-sea fish distributed in the Southern Hemisphere waters of New Zealand, Chile’s Patagonia, and Australia.

This fish usually inhabits waters six hundred meters deep. It is a high-end ingredient and commands a high price.

It can reach a maximum length of 1.6 meters, but its weight can reach two hundred jin.

This fish wasn’t as difficult to catch as the Giant Indian Marlin, but it was still far from easy.

Gu Nan thought about how he hadn’t caught any BOSS fish in the past few days and formed a theory, but he would have to test it later.

The one he caught was listed in the Atlas as 1.32 meters, Large size.

Its Flavor Rating was a high seven stars, suitable for all kinds of cooking methods, and its suggested selling price was as high as three hundred.

This single fish was worth over thirty thousand and could be sold for a maximum of around sixty thousand.

’Too bad it’s a BOSS. The catch count is low, or else I’d be rich.’

The elite map also successfully unlocked, presenting elite quests similar to those on the Fengqi Coast.

[Congratulations, Host, on unlocking the Elite Atlas. Daily quests are temporarily suspended and will resume only after the Host activates the next map.]

[Elite Quest 3: Challenge a small elite BOSS (1/6). Success Reward: 200 EXP, 2000 Gold Coins. Note: The next quest can only be unlocked after completing the current one.]

’One hundred one-star fish, two hundred...’

Gu Nan’s eyes widened. ’Wait, how many was that?’

’Two hundred? Wasn’t it supposed to be fifty?’

He was dumbfounded. ’What the hell, two hundred? There’s no length requirement, but is there something special about this Bar-tailed Nine-spined Bass?’

Unfortunately, there was no signal out here, so Gu Nan couldn’t look it up online. He had to drop the thought.

He then resumed fishing. To test his theory, he continued to bottom fish in the same spot.

He had some bad luck. The Giant Spider Crabs were swarming again tonight. He used up his remaining fourteen chances and caught nothing but spider crabs, and he didn’t manage to hook a second Longbody Sawperch.

After some thought, he used up his map-wide daily attempts here as well. In the end, his luck turned. After catching a Giant-class Longbody Sawperch that was 1.43 meters long and weighed over one hundred fifty jin, he became a little more certain of his theory.

The normal Atlas BOSS of Seven-Star Rock has a requirement for water depth.

Gu Nan wasn’t sure if it was exactly one hundred meters, but at least now he knew how to target this kind of fish.

The previous batch of Giant Spider Crabs had all been bought by the Junhao Hotel, and the few remaining in the shop had been sold to customers.

’Since I’ve run into them today, I might as well restock.’

Unfortunately, the water was a bit deep. Gu Nan had to reel slowly, and it took several minutes to bring up a single Giant Spider Crab.

If it weren’t for the aquarium, these spider crabs wouldn’t have survived long after being pulled out of the water.

Gu Nan didn’t stop until two in the morning, after catching about a hundred Giant Spider Crabs.

The main issue was the slow efficiency. If he had a golden fishing rod paired with an electric reel, he would have wanted to keep going.

Afterward, Gu Nan tidied up, washed up, and returned to his bedroom to enter the weekly Sea Fishing Space.

Although a week had passed since his last entry, this visit wouldn’t expire for another two days, so he was still in time.

A good sleep after a session in the Sea Fishing Space would fully restore his energy. Gu Nan planned to try and challenge the Legendary Indian Marlin when he woke up in the morning.

Among the fish he had unlocked in his Atlas, this was the hardest one to catch. Not even the Blue-bodied Large-spot Grouper could compare—it wasn’t even close.

Entering the Sea Fishing Space again, Gu Nan was full of anticipation for what kind of good stuff he would encounter this time.

But when he found himself standing on a small reef, wearing a wetsuit with a large mesh bag hanging at his side and a small shovel in his hand, his mind went blank.

’I haven’t even learned how to dive yet!’

On the reefs in the shallow water nearby, Gu Nan spotted large abalones one after another.

Based on the location of the Fengqi Coast map, he guessed these were probably South African abalones. After all, South Africa was a major abalone-producing country.

The waves in this area weren’t big, and he could see the shore about thirty or forty meters away.

If he wanted to get anything today, he clearly had to get in the water.

The water here was clear, and the large abalones he could see were in water at least five or six meters deep.

Gu Nan didn’t want to waste this opportunity, so he decided to try diving.

He knew how to swim. Diving five or six meters, or even ten, to grab some abalones shouldn’t be a problem.

He squatted down, sat on the reef, and lowered his legs into the water. Then, he pushed off with his hands and slid in.

In an instant, his entire body was submerged in seawater. Wearing waterproof goggles, Gu Nan could see his surroundings clearly and didn’t panic.

The next moment, he felt his body automatically float back to the surface. The buoyancy of the seawater was indeed much greater than that of freshwater.

But this also meant that diving would require more effort.

Gu Nan didn’t rashly dive down to grab the abalones. In the game map’s Sea Fishing Space, he couldn’t die.

However, he could drown, fall unconscious, and be kicked out of the map, wasting the opportunity.

So he started swimming around to get acclimated first. Catching a few abalones was better than nothing at all.
