I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 178: Chapter 129: Golden Legend (3)

’Now, as long as I have the rod, I can catch seafood from the Fengqi Coast. It doesn’t matter where I fish.’

He could use his electric reel rod while also using the Seven-Star Rod to catch seafood from Seven-Star Rock.

After a short while, he reached Sanlian Reef. Two other boats were anchored nearby, their occupants also out for some night fishing.

It wasn’t a problem, though. Gu Nan steered his boat to the other side, letting Sanlian Reef block him from their view.

At this time of night, everyone was focused on fishing and had no time to bother with anyone else.

The waters Gu Nan chose were forty-seven meters deep—quite a respectable depth.

He cast the bait from his golden Fengqi Fishing Rod into the water, letting the line out. Then, he took out his green Seven-Star Rod, attached a lure, and began fishing with it from the side.

Gu Nan fished until three in the morning before packing up his rods and heading back to sleep.

Without the enhancement sticker, even with the golden rod, the fish he caught were Giant-class at best. He would occasionally land a King-class monster, but he still hadn’t seen a single Legendary.

However, after activating ”Fishing Mode,” he had managed to catch thirteen blue-bodied Large-spot Groupers, which was an absurd number.

The smallest was only about forty centimeters—not even half a meter long—classifying it as Small.

The largest was just over a meter. It looked like this batch of groupers would be ready for shipment as soon as the new tank was usable.

He had directly completed the first three parts of Elite Quest III, earning nine thousand Gold Coins.

[Elite Quest Three: Challenge a Giant Elite BOSS (4/6). Success Reward: 500 EXP, 5000 Gold Coins. Note: The next quest will only unlock after completing the current one.]

Not only that, but his level had also just hit fourteen. He figured he would be able to unlock the next map by the time the fishing season opened in September, at the latest.

The golden Fengqi Fishing Rod now had thirty daily uses, and that didn’t even include the bonus daily uses he got when he first linked the game.

’Looks like I can use those ten bonus chances on Seven-Star Rock to fill out my collection book faster.’

Back home, Gu Nan used a Gold Coin Bonus Card before going to sleep.

He happened to have earned an absurd thirty thousand Gold Coins that day. After using the bonus card, he would get an extra nine thousand Gold Coins the next day.

Combined with his current balance of 18,730 Gold Coins, his total would jump to 27,730 the next day. He was getting close to affording a full set of purple equipment.

「Two more days passed in a flash.」

Gu Nan had gone fishing both nights, unlocking a new species at Seven-Star Rock: the Barred Trevally.

The fish didn’t look like much at first glance, but its flavor rating was an astonishing six stars. It was an incredibly delicious species of trevally.

It was probably because they only grew to a maximum of half a meter long; their average length was just twenty to thirty centimeters.

Their small size made them exceptionally delicate and savory.

Gu Nan steamed one right there on the boat. While the flavor wasn’t exactly mind-blowing, he knew it would be a huge hit on the market.

Unfortunately, its only drawback was the price. The game’s suggested retail price was one hundred.

At one hundred yuan per jin, customers wouldn’t buy it regularly, no matter how delicious it was.

After all, there were plenty of other cheap and tasty fish available; people didn’t have to choose this particular one.

Gu Nan thought this type of fish was better suited for high-end restaurants. They could justify the high price, and the customers wouldn’t need to know the details—as long as it tasted good, that’s all that mattered.

But since he hadn’t caught many yet, he stored them in his system’s aquarium instead of putting them up for sale.

After two days, his Gold Coin total had reached over thirty-one thousand two hundred. Just one more day, and he’d be able to afford the purple fishing rod.

Gu Nan had gotten home early the previous night, so he was up and out the door by a little after seven. Humming a tune, he drove his pickup to a breakfast shop to fill his stomach before heading to the seafood market.

He hadn’t really noticed it before he got his own vehicle, but driving with the AC blasting was definitely a lot more comfortable than baking in the sun on his little electric scooter.

Summer was actually the easy part. The winters here were damp and cold, and that’s when a car would really prove its worth.

Just as he walked into the shop, Gu Nan’s steps faltered. He suddenly realized something was missing.

He stepped back to the entrance and looked at the central display area. It suddenly dawned on him—the one-and-a-half-meter fish from the Ugly Country was gone!

”Yi Chen, did you sell the fish from the entrance?”

”Yeah. I was worried it wouldn’t stay fresh for much longer, so when someone offered two thousand, I just went ahead and sold it.”

”Two thousand? That’s not bad.”

Gu Nan had no complaints about the price. The fish from the Ugly Country was the cheapest type he’d caught so far; they didn’t fetch a high price no matter how big they were. Two thousand was actually pretty good.

’Anyway, we’ll have another big fish on display in a few days. No need to rush.’

Yi Chen walked over to the new tank and asked, ”Boss, can we use this tank now?”

Gu Nan replied, ”The worker said to let it dry for two days. The tank is ready to use today, and so is the display counter.”

”What? The display counter is ready too? I forgot to order extra crushed ice this morning! What do we do?”

”It’s fine. We’ll close up this afternoon and drive to the ice factory to pick up a batch ourselves.”

Having a pickup truck was so convenient. ’If we only had the tricycle,’ he mused, ’I doubt one load of crushed ice would be enough to cover this new, large display.’

Hearing they would drive to get it themselves, Yi Chen nodded. She then looked toward the tank. ”Should I start filling it with water, then?”

The temperature control unit, protein skimmer, and CO2 replenishment system were already inside the tank, so all they had to do was add water.

While Yi Chen started filling the tank, Gu Nan went to get the sea salt he had prepared.

Cycling a new tank for fish is a science in itself. From disinfection and sterilization to mixing water with the perfect salinity and then cultivating ”mature” water, the process takes at least half a month.

But that was for long-term fishkeeping, something Gu Nan didn’t need to worry about.

If one of his fish was about to die, he’d just pull it out and sell it chilled on ice, then have a new one delivered to take its place. Over time, the tank’s water would mature on its own.

’He even suspected the fish would be sold long before they were ever in danger of dying.’

Ever since getting the golden Fengqi Fishing Rod, Gu Nan had an insane number of large groupers in his aquarium—he even had twenty-seven blue-bodied Large-spot Groupers.

While most of them were small, he also had three large, Meter Level specimens.

Of course, aside from the 1.8-meter one, the rest had all been caught using ”Fishing Mode.”

”Boss, what kind of fish are you planning to keep in a tank this big?” Business was busy that morning, and a curious customer asked upon seeing him tinkering with the new setup.

Gu Nan answered with a smile, ”Large groupers. The Meter Level kind.”

The customers who overheard were all astonished. ”Boss, you can get groupers that big? Are they farm-raised?”

Gu Nan scoffed, ”If they were farm-raised, why would I go to all this trouble? Of course, they’re wild-caught. I have connections abroad and have already put in an order for a large number of big groupers. I hear there’s also an unbelievably huge lobster. As soon as the water is cycled, I’ll have them ship everything over.”
