I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 165: Chapter 125: A Few More Hua Zi Is What Makes a Friendship (Part 2)

WHIZZ~

The rod tip bent, and a powerful force transmitted through the line.

The fish didn’t run far, instead diving for the bottom. Seeing this, Gu Nan quickly yanked the rod up hard, forcibly pulling the fish upward.

The first few pulls were quite strenuous; the fish’s burst of strength was significant. However, as its stamina was drained, the fish’s power dwindled.

After three or four minutes, he felt the pulling force had almost completely vanished, leaving only the dead weight. Only then did Gu Nan quickly reel in the line.

Soon, a large, fiery-red fish appeared on the surface, its length nearing a meter.

”Whoa, this can’t be Legendary-grade, can it?”

A rose grouper. Theoretically, their maximum size is just over eighty centimeters, but this one was approaching Meter Level.

Currently, all the one, two, and three-star marine life in his ordinary collection already had the Legendary mark, each one having broken its species’ length limit. This rose grouper was no exception.

Gu Nan glanced around. Seeing no other boats, he used the crane to hoist up the rose grouper, which probably weighed around thirty-eight pounds, and removed the hook after placing it on the deck.

He didn’t immediately put it in the aquarium. He went into the cabin, grabbed an electronic scale that had been replaced from the shop, and weighed the fish.

40.3 pounds. ’Not bad, not bad.’

He didn’t need to measure its length; the collection had updated. It was ninety-one centimeters long, exactly ten centimeters longer than the theoretical maximum.

He put it in the aquarium to keep it alive for now. Just yesterday, he had told Yi Chen to have someone come and renovate the shop, with the main goal of deepening the large pool in the middle of the store.

That way, larger groupers like this could be kept there, creating a grouper pool for people to admire.

Gu Nan was quite satisfied with this fish. The sticker he had just used automatically vanished after he caught the big fish. He then applied another sticker and continued fishing.

After a dozen or so seconds, the rod dipped again. Feeling the weight on the line, the smile on his face grew even brighter.

When using his daily chances with just the purple fishing rod’s bonus, he mostly caught large and giant fish, with an occasional king-tier one if he got lucky.

But after using a sticker, he could clearly feel that the tier of the fish had increased across the board.

This time, he pulled up a massive Tiger Stripes. It took him some time because of its immense strength. Gu Nan reckoned that none of the anglers at Yangjiang Port had ever seen a Tiger Stripes that was 1.37 meters long.

Its stocky body was practically fatter than a sub-adult pig.

Unfortunately, he only had four ”big fish bonus” stickers, and Gu Nan used them up quickly.

The subsequent catches were a Blue Star Nine-spine Sea Perch over half a meter long and a Mozambique Lobster that was even longer than the perch.

The latter was a pleasant surprise for Gu Nan. He quickly weighed it. The result: 12.9 pounds.

’This has to be the biggest Mozambique Lobster on the entire internet. Ones that are seven and a half pounds are already incredibly rare; I’ve never even heard of one over eleven pounds.’

When the time comes, he would have Yi Chen film a video and post it online. He figured a lot of the seafood influencers who followed her would be scrambling to buy it.

Unfortunately, he had used up all the ”big fish bonus” stickers. Gu Nan felt he should save the remaining two ”rare fish” stickers for now.

When using his guaranteed-catch chances with the purple rod, the fish were basically three to five stars. This time, after using the ”rare fish” sticker, not a single three-star fish had appeared.

Four and five-star marine products were valuable. If he didn’t use a ”big fish bonus” sticker along with them, Gu Nan felt like it was a bit of a waste.

Gu Nan continued using his daily chances, and sure enough, three-star marine life started appearing one after another.

Using up the seventy-five daily guaranteed-catch chances took a considerable amount of time. It took him the entire morning to use them all up, leaving only the six chances for Seven-Star Rock.

’No rush on that. I’ll go tonight.’

By now it was noon. Gu Nan started making himself lunch while waiting for Wang Junhe to arrive.

Guo Xiao had also sent him a message asking if he had any more Meter Level mackerel, regretting that he’d been too busy in the morning to see the message and had been beaten to the punch by Wang Junhe.

On that point, he could only say there was nothing he could do. Although he had a bigger ”American,” he planned to display that one at the shop’s entrance for a while.

There was no helping it. His luck had been terrible this morning; he hadn’t caught a single blue-body Large-spot Grouper. As such, he had no substitute and Guo Xiao would just have to be disappointed.

He had caught a large number of Blue Spot Mackerel in the early morning. This fish was top-quality when fresh. Gu Nan opened a styrofoam box, found a relatively smaller mackerel, and prepared to pan-fry it for lunch to taste it.

After a fresh mackerel is chilled on ice, its back develops an oily green sheen, making it look as if the fish has gone bad.

In reality, this is a unique characteristic of the Blue Spot Mackerel. An oily green back is actually a sign that it’s exceptionally fresh.

Ones that have been frozen for a long time, however, have a normal blue-purple back.

Gu Nan first started cooking some rice for himself in the rice cooker. Then he cleaned the mackerel he’d selected and cut it into pieces. There was no frying pan on the boat, but a wok would have to do.

He heated the wok, poured in oil, and used his chopsticks to place the fish pieces into the pan. A wisp of smoke rose with a ”TSSSSSS.”

A mackerel of about thirty-five centimeters didn’t amount to much once cut into pieces. Gu Nan had a big appetite, so this fish was just enough for him.

One side of the fish was fried to a golden brown. Gu Nan flipped it over, and the rich, seared aroma of the fish immediately wafted up, making his mouth water.

Among low-to-mid-tier fish, mackerel was considered a delicacy.

Don’t be fooled by the high prices Gu Nan’s catches commanded; the truth was, there weren’t many of these top-quality mackerel on the market, and a lot of people couldn’t buy them even if they wanted to.

Most of the mackerel on the market were caught in the deep sea, flash-frozen, and then sold all over the country.
