I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 169: Chapter 126: This Fish Grants Longevity?

Regardless, the market for this long-life fish should be pretty good. If they promoted its benefits more, most casual customers would probably be willing to buy one and give it a try.

Besides, fish that were this strange-looking yet delicious were a huge hit with seafood content creators. So, Gu Nan kept fishing in the same spot, hoping to catch enough to fill two crates and ship them out that night.

After his guaranteed catches were used up, the school of long-life fish was still there. Even with normal fishing, Gu Nan was still pulling them up.

The only difference was that their sizes weren’t as uniform as when he was using his guaranteed catches. The small ones were only about a catty, while he even caught one that was five catties.

’This one’s a veritable ancestor. It has to be at least a hundred and twenty years old.’

After an hour, having caught thirty of them one after another, Gu Nan finally moved to a new spot.

He had only completed two of his daily quests so far and needed to keep going.

Unfortunately, he didn’t manage to unlock any new species by evening. It looked like he would fail the quest to unlock a four-star seafood product again.

Still, he had caught plenty of hake and tiger crabs today, which were also ready to be shipped.

The hake were all still whole, not yet filleted. Gu Nan thought for a moment. He decided that when he went back to fish the Fengqi Coast at night and got a signal, he’d message Yi Chen. He’d have her ask if any content creators were interested. If so, he would save a few whole fish for them this time.

He put away his fishing rod, busied himself with dinner, and took a moment to admire the beautiful sunset.

But after going out to sea so many times, Gu Nan had grown a little tired of the view.

He planned to eat well tonight. With a mere thought, five Spotted Prawn Shrimp, each nearly twenty centimeters long, appeared, followed by two hefty tiger crabs.

For the fish course, Gu Nan grabbed three small yellow croakers from a foam crate that he had caught by accident earlier. They weren’t particularly valuable, and since there were only three, he decided he might as well cook them for himself.

He set the rice cooker to work. Instead of noodles, he much preferred a pot of seafood soup to go with his rice.

SIZZLE~

He placed the pieces of tiger crab into the pan one by one. Once they were seared to a light golden brown, he added the small yellow croakers and Spotted Prawn Shrimp to either side.

When everything was seared just right, he began adding water, followed by the seasonings.

In truth, all it needed was a little salt; anything else was unnecessary.

He put the lid on and let it simmer. Meanwhile, Gu Nan chopped some scallions for a garnish.

A short while later, he lifted the lid. Steam billowed out, carrying a rich, savory aroma that made his stomach rumble instantly.

The creamy white broth looked incredibly appetizing. ’It’s a shame I don’t have any clams or small shrimp. Otherwise, this seafood soup would be absolutely perfect.’

Once it was cooked through, Gu Nan turned off the heat, letting the soup cool down a bit so it wouldn’t be scalding hot.

Another ten minutes or so passed, and the rice was ready. He grabbed his bowl and couldn’t wait to scoop it full.

Between fishing every day and the game’s buff to his physical stats, he found his appetite was growing beyond that of a mere glutton.

’What does a glutton evolve into, anyway? I have no idea!’

Half an hour later, Gu Nan was sitting contentedly on the cabin sofa, rubbing his full belly.

Seafood was definitely more convenient to cook than other ingredients; even a simple hodgepodge stew like that was incredibly delicious.

He took a stroll on the deck to let his food settle, then washed his bowl and chopsticks.

Once everything was tidied up, he washed an apple. Gu Nan steered the boat toward the inshore spot he’d discovered that morning, munching on the apple as he went.

As the fishing boat reached the coastal waters, his phone, tucked away in his pocket, buzzed with a few messages.

He pulled it out and saw a message from Xiang Shidong.

He said things had been a little hectic after the typhoon, but he’d definitely hit him up to go fishing as soon as he had some free time.

The next message was from Yi Chen. She said that the Junhao Hotel had bought all the Spanish mackerel.

The price was a little lower—they’d paid ninety per catty—but the purchase order was being written up for one hundred and twelve per catty.

Gu Nan’s brow furrowed. He knew some purchasers pulled these kinds of stunts, but he had about four hundred catties of Spanish mackerel. This was a kickback of over eight thousand!

’If this is just some low-level employee, he’s got some serious nerve.’

He knew Sheng Shuyun, the head of the purchasing department. ’Does he know about this?’

’If it’s just some reckless kid trying to line his own pockets, Sheng Shuyun needs to know.’

Gu Nan had seen this sort of thing happen before. A purchaser tried to get a kickback, the supplier told his boss directly, and the guy was fired that very same day.

The kid in that case was the nephew of one of the boss’s friends. Honestly, the nerve on him was astounding—he brought complete disgrace to his relatives.

He was only spared because he hadn’t actually pocketed the money yet. Otherwise, getting fired would have been the least of his worries.

So he sent a message: ”Who came to make the purchase today? Do you know him?”

”I don’t know him. I didn’t see him last time, either.” By ”last time,” Yi Chen meant when Sheng Shuyun had visited the store; this person hadn’t been with him then. After sending her reply, she thought for a moment and decided to call him directly. ”Boss, what should we do about this?”

”It’s not a big deal. I’ll just talk to Sheng Shuyun directly.” It was best to report this directly to Sheng Shuyun. Whether he had approved it himself or something else was going on, it made no difference to Gu Nan.

That evening, Sheng Shuyun was at home with no social engagements, sprawled on his sofa, when he saw the message from Gu Nan. His brow furrowed instantly.

The young man who had picked up the order from the seafood shop today was his wife’s cousin. Sheng Shuyun knew he took kickbacks on the side and had always turned a blind eye.

After all, it was never much—just a few hundred here and there for pocket money. It made him think the kid knew his limits and wasn’t too greedy.

When his cousin went to pick up the Spanish mackerel, he’d told Sheng Shuyun the price was 110 per catty. Sheng Shuyun had thought he was planning to take a two-yuan cut, which would have amounted to a little over eight hundred yuan—a reasonable amount for pocket money.

But he never imagined the actual price was only ninety per catty. To Sheng Shuyun, over eight thousand was still just pocket change, but the nature of the act was completely different.

’He’s not just deceiving his superiors, his greed is getting out of control!’

Sheng Shuyun thanked Gu Nan, scheduled a dinner with him for another day, and then set his phone aside.

A short while later, a stunningly beautiful young woman, wrapped in a bath towel, walked out of the bedroom.

Sheng Shuyun doted on his wife. They had fallen in love and gotten married on their own terms, and as newlyweds, they were still in their honeymoon phase.

That’s why he wouldn’t make a decision about her cousin on his own. He decided to hear what his wife had to say first.
