I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 156: Chapter 122: Yi Chen: You’re Not Suitable

Upon seeing the giant elopichthys, Yi Chen seemed to remember something and said, ”Boss, a lot of people came yesterday wanting to buy this fish. The highest offer was five thousand, and they even left a phone number. Are you sure you don’t want to sell it?”

Gu Nan thought for a moment and said, ”A typhoon’s coming tomorrow. I plan on closing up this afternoon to go look at some cars. We won’t be able to display this fish anyway, so go ahead and sell it later when you get a chance. It’ll lose its freshness if we keep it any longer, and then no one will want it. The price should be around five or six thousand; use your judgment when you sell it.”

”Okay~” ’A fish worth five or six thousand isn’t too shabby.’

Having frequently handled fish worth thousands or even tens of thousands, Yi Chen was no longer surprised by this price. In fact, she even thought it was a little low.

The publicity generated by a giant elopichthys over two meters long was actually quite good.

For one, the anglers who had seen it with their own eyes yesterday afternoon spread the word. On top of that, some of the younger customers who saw the fish at the shop’s entrance posted photos online, providing a bit of indirect advertising.

By nine o’clock, thanks to the impending typhoon, business was booming. Gu Nan had been assisting Yi Chen with sales, and as usual, he let her handle all the transactions with the walk-in customers.

Just then, a car pulled up to the entrance of the seafood market, and a greasy, middle-aged man stepped out.

He was ”greasy” mainly because he was a bit overweight and fond of a slicked-back hairstyle.

A tall, skinny, and slightly younger man got out after him, holding a video camera aimed at the slicked-back man.

The slicked-back man glanced around the seafood market and said to the tall, thin man, ”This is the place, right? Yangjiang Fishery Seafood Market.”

The tall, thin man pulled out his phone to check, then nodded. ”This is it. That’s right. The shop number is 86, and it’s called Fengnan Aquatic Products.”

”Alright, let’s start filming,” the slicked-back man said, nodding once he confirmed the address was correct.

That’s right—the slicked-back man was also a seafood content creator. He had a huge online following and was currently vying for the title of ”Sea King.”

He was here because his assistant had stumbled upon a photo of the elopichthys while scrolling online. A little digging led them to Yi Chen’s account, where they found videos featuring several unfamiliar fish species, prompting an immediate follow.

He’d sent a private message that went unanswered, but then he happened to spot the shop’s address in the comment section. Seeing as it was nearby, he decided to just come over in person.

The tall, thin cameraman raised his camera and began filming. The slicked-back man got into character, turning to the lens to greet his audience.

”Hey everyone, it’s your boy, Slickback Bro. You can all see the seafood market behind me, right? That’s right, Slickback Bro heard there’s a shop here that likes to display massive fish right at the entrance, so today, Slickback Bro has come to see it for himself.”

”Let’s go. Time to head inside and check it out.”

Meanwhile, Gu Nan, who finally had a moment of downtime, sat behind the counter checking his current finances on his phone.

There was the 300,000 from the greater amberjack, plus over 100,000 from the three big fish the shop had recently sold. Adding in the batch of seafood purchased by Junhao Hotel and the revenue from daily sales, his savings had successfully surpassed 500,000, reaching a total of 564,000.

First, he transferred 100,000 to An Jun to pay back his debt.

He set aside the remaining sixty-odd thousand for daily expenses and as an emergency fund.

That meant he had 400,000 in disposable funds for a car.

With 400,000, he could buy a very nice car—even an entry-level model from a luxury brand.

Gu Nan wasn’t interested in those entry-level luxury models, though; he just needed a vehicle to get from A to B.

He had originally planned to just make do with a car in the 100,000-range, but now that he had the money, he could aim for one in the 200,000-plus range.

A car in the 200,000-plus range would be more spacious and comfortable.

Electric cars were the current trend, but he felt a gas-electric hybrid would be better. For that, a domestic model was the obvious choice.

In the 200,000-plus price range, domestic brands were the only way to go if you wanted comfort.

Just as he’d settled on what brand of car to look for, a sudden commotion at the entrance caught Gu Nan’s attention.

He saw a cameraman filming with a large camera and had a moment of realization. ’Another vlogger drawn in by the fish.’

’Quite a few vloggers have been drawn here lately, but most of them are solo acts. It’s rare to see one with a dedicated crew.’

He didn’t get involved, though. Yi Chen was in charge of handling these kinds of customers.

He would just get up to help if any other walk-in customers arrived.

”Whoa, look at this elopichthys! I’ve seen photos online, but seeing it in the flesh is way more impressive!” The slicked-back man immediately put on a shocked expression upon seeing the giant fish in the tricycle.

His acting was mediocre, though; it just came off as over-the-top.

Yi Chen was already used to this type of customer. She stepped forward and began explaining the fish’s story.

Gu Nan paid them no mind, continuing to browse online for well-regarded car brands and looking up reviews and models for sedans in the 200,000-plus range.

Since he planned on buying a pickup truck eventually, he wasn’t considering an SUV this time around.

Sedans had their own merits, anyway. At the very least, the seats were more comfortable than in an SUV.

”Boss! One mud crab, 7.3 jin, at 380 per jin. And one long-jawed trevally, 33.6 jin, at 100 per jin. Can you run the total?”

Yi Chen’s voice snapped Gu Nan out of his thoughts. He was a little surprised to hear they wanted the big mud crab. ’I thought for sure they’d buy the elopichthys!’

’But on second thought, it makes sense. Elopichthys aren’t a rare species, and they taste pretty average. Buying one this big would be expensive and not even that tasty. It’d be a total sucker’s purchase just for a video. Better to pick something big *and* delicious to film.’

”The mud crab is 2,774, and the long-jawed trevally is 3,360. Just make it 6,100,” Gu Nan said after calculating the total, speaking to the slicked-back man who came over to pay.
