His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2039: Chapter 583: Special Gift

”Boss!” Yang Qin knocked and entered.

”Hmm!”

Mu Yichen kept his head down, looking at the documents she placed on the desk yesterday. Yang Qin walked over to put down a few more documents, couldn’t help but glance at him, and then composed herself to start discussing work.

Mu Yichen’s brow remained furrowed, making Yang Qin feel uncertain, so she dared not show any sign of unease.

Mu Yichen signed all the documents he needed to, and handed them to her without looking up.

For some reason, Yang Qin felt uneasy: ”Then I’ll be leaving first!”

”Hmm!”

”Is it tea again today?”

Confronted with Mu Yichen’s coldness, she couldn’t help but ask an extra question.

”Coffee!”

Mu Yichen responded indifferently.

”But your arm injury—”

”Has healed—”

Mu Yichen responded coldly, then suddenly paused, lifted his eyes, and shot her a sharp look: ”Don’t make decisions on your own in the future, and don’t contradict me.”

Yang Qin’s back suddenly stiffened, and then she nodded: ”Yes!”

She went to make the coffee, not daring to disobey him.

It was said that those who disobeyed him never ended well, and she certainly wouldn’t be an exception.

After closing the door for him, Yang Qin returned to her desk, set down the files, and went to make the coffee for him.

Today, Mu Yichen was exceptionally cold, even somewhat stingy. When he looked at her with that perplexed frown, it reminded her of two words: dislike.

Had Mu Yichen come to dislike her?

She was merely working diligently, so how could he dislike her?

Yang Qin instinctively bit down on her lip, reminding herself repeatedly: ”Yang Qin, you absolutely cannot make any mistakes, not within this short year, you can’t become the laughing stock here.”

As for the help Mu Yichen had given her, she followed Xi Meng and Qiao Yi’s advice, believing that Mu Yichen didn’t help her just because she was Yang Qin, even if he had once faced down three thugs with knives for her.

She carried the coffee back to the office area, just as Qiao Yi returned from outside. Yang Qin instinctively greeted him: ”Old Qiao! You’re back!”

”Hmm! Did Secretary Yang make this coffee for Boss Mu?”

Qiao Yi stopped whistling, hands in his pockets, and asked her.

”Yes! Since you’re going to see the boss, could you do me a favor and take it to him? I need to head downstairs.”

”Alright!”

Qiao Yi agreed and couldn’t help but scrutinize her as he took the coffee.

After Yang Qin left with her files, Qiao Yi also took the coffee, placed it properly on Mu Yichen’s desk, and couldn’t resist asking him: ”Yang Qin asked me to bring you the coffee! Why does she seem unhappy?”

”Is that so?”

Mu Yichen was still engrossed in the document, his brow tightly knit, seemingly indifferent to Qiao Yi’s question.

”Yes indeed!”

Qiao Yi intentionally exaggerated.

Only then did Mu Yichen stop reading, raised his eyes, and his sharp gaze pierced into the depths of Qiao Yi’s eyes. Qiao Yi instinctively released his grip from the edge of the desk and straightened his posture.

Completely unaware of what had transpired between the boss and the secretary, it seemed strange.

”Pretend I didn’t ask!”

Realizing Mu Yichen’s displeasure at the mention of Yang Qin, Qiao Yi knew better than to press further, whether as a friend or as a subordinate.

Mu Yichen then withdrew his piercing gaze and continued with the documents.

”Yesterday, I went to K City to gather information on their headquarters.”

Qiao Yi drew up a chair, earnestly discussing work with Mu Yichen.

Mu Yichen did not look up, signing as he asked casually: ”What’s the news?”

”They are indeed planning that project and intend to launch it within three months, meaning they’ll present a summary before the New Year.”

Qiao Yi turned serious.

Mu Yichen took a deep breath, and after a few seconds, gave a slight smile: ”That is indeed Old Zhou’s style; he never engages in uncertain ventures. So, this time, we are facing a formidable opponent.”

”What should we do then?”

”Are you going to continue with this case?”

Mu Yichen lifted his eyes to confirm with him one last time.

”I’m certain I won’t leave a mess for Zhao Huai.”

Qiao Yi disclosed to Mu Yichen sincerely, word by word.

Mu Yichen nodded, glanced out the window, and then said, ”Then let’s follow our previous plan, scrap Plan B directly. If Plan A doesn’t work, initiate Plan C immediately. If they want three months, we’ll do it in one and a half.”
