His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2016: Chapter 577: Greed Knows No Bounds (Part 5)

If she didn’t like it, why was she pretending to be a studious woman in front of him?

Qin Mingzhu grew increasingly restless, thinking, if you don’t leave, I’m out of here!

”Just buy it and read it; Yiwen, should we go somewhere else for a walk?”

Zhang Hongyun suddenly closed the book gently, held it in her arms, and looked at the man across from her.

She really didn’t want to stay here any longer because just looking at the coffee made her headache worse; she was eager to escape.

However, Tan Yiwen had already finished his coffee and asked her, seeing she hadn’t finished hers yet, ”Finish before we leave, don’t waste it!”

His tone was slow and calm, like a brother teaching his sister not to waste drinks.

Zhang Hongyun’s forehead twitched, and she awkwardly twitched her mouth: ”I’m not really in the mood for coffee today.”

Though she spoke cautiously, Tan Yiwen still smiled and gently insisted, ”Finish it; otherwise, the owner might think you dislike their shop, even though you clearly like it.”

Zhang Hongyun was a bit confused by his gentle words, then forced herself to pick up the coffee, but only drank less than half before putting it down again: ”Forget it, I have a bit of a headache today.”

”A headache? Alright, let’s come back another day then!”

Tan Yiwen said, and he stood up, took his coat from behind, and walked outside with the book.

Finally, it was time to pay; Qin Mingzhu suddenly hid at the cashier counter and called for the staff to handle the bill because she had instructed them beforehand, so when Tan Yiwen walked over, they just smiled at him and asked him to scan the code to make the payment.

Tan Yiwen glanced at Zhang Hongyun: ”Shall we pay together?”

”Oh! No, I’ll pay for myself!”

Tan Yiwen glanced at her again, then smiled without saying anything more.

Tan Yiwen nodded and paid for himself.

The staff also helped Zhang Hongyun scan hers, then showed her: ”Ma’am, this book is part of a series; we don’t sell them separately now. Are you sure you really like it?”

The staff was very polite, but Zhang Hongyun felt a bit puzzled: ”Of course I like it, but what does not selling it separately mean?”

”It means if you want to buy it, you must purchase the entire set, no exceptions for anyone; the whole set needs to be bought.”

The staff patiently explained, maintaining a smile throughout.

”But I just want to buy this one!”

Zhang Hongyun glanced at the book already packed for her on the cashier counter. A second staff member stood nearby with another book, and Zhang Hongyun felt a bit embarrassed.

”If you like it, why not buy the whole set? This author’s writing is excellent, and the storyline is particularly captivating. We’ve sold five or six sets in just the past two days. Judging by your style and love for reading, you definitely won’t mind the price. You’ll finish these books in no time, so why not buy them, Xiaojiang, go get the entire set for me!”

”Well...”

Zhang Hongyun was still in a daze as the staff went to fetch the books for her.

Ten minutes later, a stack of ten thick books appeared in front of her, taller than a computer, and Zhang Hongyun’s jaw almost dropped in shock.

”A total of five hundred and twenty; which payment method do you prefer? We accept both Alipay and WeChat!”

”Alipay then!”

Zhang Hongyun stammered as she paid, while Tan Yiwen gracefully walked out, and she followed behind, clutching the ten heavy books handed to her by the staff, feeling as if her slender arms would be squashed.

”Do you need help? Hold on a second!”

Tan Yiwen had just asked if she needed assistance when his phone suddenly rang, so he told her to wait while he went to answer the call.

Zhang Hongyun stood with the books next to his car, right by the car, so he just needed to open it, but instead, he was behind the car handling calls, not opening the door for her.

Why did she decide to buy a car in the first place?

”Excuse me, please step aside!”

The bookstore door suddenly opened from inside, and a staff member came out holding a basin of water; at the same time, Zhang Hongyun heard a sound and turned back in fright...
