Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 484: Chapter 415: Deciding to Do Something Earth-Shattering (2)

...

In the detention room.

Qi Zhen, who had just committed murder, looked completely indifferent.

In his eyes, once the gamma-ray burst comes, humanity would face extinction. After all, they wouldn’t survive anyway, so why not make life a bit more ”exciting” in the limited time left?

For instance, by killing the relatives and friends of those ancestors who refused to save the world.

Now, having killed one, he felt no remorse. On the contrary, he found it exhilarating.

”Ancestor, I just killed your relative, what can you do to me?”

Qi Zhen thought to himself with a sneer, ”At worst, you’ll kill me too. We’re all going to die sooner or later. Do you think I’m afraid of death?”

Just as this thought crossed his mind, the lights inexplicably dimmed.

Qi Zhen was momentarily stunned, thinking that the lights had simply malfunctioned, and didn’t dwell on it much at the time.

For some reason, it felt as if no one was left in the corridor outside.

Time seemed to accelerate, and the sky soon turned a murky gray.

It wasn’t the pitch darkness where one couldn’t see a thing.

Rather, it was a kind of twilight where one could vaguely make out the surroundings.

Moreover, there was a faint, blood-red glow, flickering unceasingly.

”Huh?” Qi Zhen finally realized something was wrong. ”What’s going on?”

He was just about to stand up and shout.

Before he could call out, streams of blood began to flow down the walls from the ceiling.

Drip.

Drip.

The blood hitting the ground made a crisp sound.

Qi Zhen felt a chill run down his spine, with every hair on his body standing on end.

He hurriedly shouted towards the outside, ”Is anyone there? Is anyone there? It’s haunted here! It’s haunted! Let me out!”

His voice echoed through the empty corridor, but no one responded.

Qi Zhen was in a state of panic, shouting, ”Help! Help!”

Suddenly, footsteps came from the end of the corridor, ”click clack click clack.”

Qi Zhen, already thoroughly terrified, was suddenly overjoyed upon hearing the sound, and shouted again, ”Help! Help! Come save me!”

Just as his voice rang out, the footsteps suddenly quickened, as if someone was truly coming to rescue him.

Qi Zhen squinted and saw someone in a white T-shirt, with a blood-like red stain on the chest, whose face was indiscernible, walking briskly towards him.

Upon seeing someone coming, he should have felt relieved.

Yet Qi Zhen didn’t know why, but when he saw this person, instinctively a chill rose in his heart.

It felt as though the approaching figure was not a person, but rather some terrifying monster.

”Who are you?”

”Speak, who are you?”

Qi Zhen shouted desperately.

He received no response from the newcomer.

Terrified, he retreated until he was backed into a corner.

At this point, the figure finally reached the glass window of the detention room door.

He spoke in an incredibly soft voice, ”I’m here to save you, what’s there to fear?”

”Are you really a human?”

Hearing the voice slightly eased Qi Zhen’s fear. As he moved cautiously towards the door, he muttered, ”Your actions are a bit strange, I almost thought you were some monster. Go on, get me out of here, it’s haunted.”

The person gave a gentle ”mm” in response, actually opened the door, then stood at the doorway without any other movement.

Qi Zhen, trembling all over, staggered to the doorstep and shouted urgently, ”Quick, take me somewhere else, it’s really haunted here.”

”Wait.”

The person grabbed Qi Zhen.

”What now?”

Qi Zhen furrowed his brows.

The person slowly lifted his head, ”Look closely at who I am.”

”Aren’t you from this...”

As Qi Zhen spoke and looked up, his voice abruptly stopped.

His face turned deathly pale, almost fainting on the spot!

He could never have expected that the person standing before him was Zhu Shou Nian, whom he had killed that afternoon!

The most striking thing was Zhu Shou Nian’s complexion - ashen, devoid of any blood, eyes shimmering with an eerie green glow - looking like an outright vengeful spirit!

Zhu Shou Nian suddenly grinned, revealing terrifying, blood-stained fangs, ”We met this afternoon, do you remember me?”

Qi Zhen, whose heart was already pounding, fainted outright upon hearing this and seeing Zhu Shou Nian in such a terrifying guise!

...

Super Base, dining hall.

Lu Li returned to the table to eat, while casually chatting with Liu Kexin and his parents, as if nothing happened, taking note of Qi Zhen fainting in fright, soiling himself.

Seeing how cowardly the other person was, he secretly smirked, ”I thought you were braver than that, turns out you’re so easily scared. Don’t worry, there will be many times like this in the days to come!”

This time, Lu Li was thoroughly angered, so he didn’t kill Qi Zhen immediately.

He intended to torment this audacious individual until he lived his remaining days in terror!

Of course, what Lu Li planned to do was far more than just scaring Qi Zhen.

He was going to take even more shocking actions.

Or rather, actions that would incite more fear.

His mother asked, ”Son, who was on the phone just now?”

Lu Li asked back, ”Mom, do you know Zhu Shou Nian?”

”Zhu Shou Nian?” His mother reflected, ”I do have some impression of him; he’s a relative from your grandmother’s side, but we don’t usually keep in touch. Why are you suddenly asking about him?”

Lu Li replied softly, ”He’s dead.”

His mother was momentarily stunned and said nothing.

His father was also initially surprised, then confusedly asked, ”I have some memory of Xiaozhu too, he was only around thirty, why did he die so young?”

What Lu Li planned next was somewhat grave.

Therefore, he had to first discuss it with his parents and Liu Kexin.

So they’d understand why he had to do such a grievous thing.

He relayed Gu Wei’s account entirely to his parents and Liu Kexin.

After hearing it, his father burst out angrily, ”How can someone be such a bastard? It’s up to you if you want to save the world or not, why take it out on others? Even to the point of murder?”

His mom was equally infuriated, ”Exactly, it’s inhumane.”

Though Liu Kexin remained silent, her furrowed brow indicated she, too, was disgusted with Qi Zhen’s actions.

Lu Li calmly reasoned, ”There’s no shortage of people around the world who think like this. Actually, the reason I brought Mom and Dad to the super base was for this reason; before, I found out some people from the Island Country were planning to assassinate you, so I came back to Huazhou Junting to bring you over.”

”What?”

”They wanted to kill us?”

His father and mother were utterly shocked.

Liu Kexin, who had remained quiet, appeared somewhat distressed, ”These people are too extreme! Although you’ve never stated if you intend to save the world, you’ve been working hard at it these days, which I’ve noticed. Besides, even if you had the power and chose not to save the world, that’s your business. You haven’t done anything to those people, so why blame you?”

”There’s nothing we can do. Some people just think that way,” Lu Li remained calm. ”So, to prevent similar incidents from happening again, I’ve decided to take some actions to eliminate such issues from the root. The means may be harsh, and I’m not sure if you will support me.”

His mom, full of anger, said, ”You’re my son; no matter what you do, I’ll support you.”

His father nodded in agreement, ”Yes, even if you say you’re going to kill all those insane people, today I won’t object.”

Liu Kexin nodded in agreement, indicating her full support.

Lu Li spoke steadily, ”What I plan to do is truly horrible, so it’s better if you hear me out before deciding whether to support it. If you oppose, I can refrain from doing such terrible things.”

Despite being extremely angry, he would still listen to his parents and future wife, Liu Kexin.

His father and mother exchanged a glance, sensing from Lu Li’s words that this was something out of the ordinary.

Liu Kexin felt a chill at the thought of past events linking to something terrifying.

In the end, his mother and Liu Kexin looked towards his father.

Evidently, they wanted him to ask Lu Li what exactly he intended to do.

Understanding, his father took a deep breath and said, ”Xiaoli, what exactly is this terrible thing you want to do? Tell us clearly so we can be prepared mentally. I still stand by what I said; no matter what you plan to do, I’ll fully support it.”

His mom nodded, ”Yes, I feel the same way as your dad.”

Liu Kexin stated, ”No matter what it is, no matter how terrible, I’ll always be on your side.”

”Okay, I’ll tell you,” Lu Li nodded slightly, and said something extremely shocking, ”I’ve decided to sink a certain island country!”
