Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 452: Chapter 390: Accelerating Evolution_2

In the end, revenge was served, and his mood became incredibly pleasant as he returned to be close with Liu Kexin.

However, when he arrived there, although he was very close to his fifth deep evolution, he was just a hair’s breadth away and couldn’t cross it.

It wasn’t until the shadow in his heart was cleared and he publicly revealed his true identity to the world that he took a giant leap in his realm, entering the fifth deep evolution.

Thinking about this, Lu Li roughly sorted out his thoughts.

”In the past, after every deep evolution, I would exhaust my energy to the extreme, and even with such strong recovery, I still couldn’t replenish it in time.”

Lu Li mused, ”Presumably, this is a very important reason for my rapid evolution.”

Evolution requires pressure.

If there is no pressure, whether it’s oneself or the whole society, the degree of ”evolution” would be very small.

This is very easy to find examples of.

Humans living on the relatively resource-poor Earth generally have more developed humanities and technology.

Because you have to find ways to survive, otherwise you’ll perish due to the lack of resources.

And humans in places where resources are abundant and natural disasters are few tend to have a lower level of social civilization.

For example, Africa, because of its low latitude, ample heat, and fertile soil, food is relatively abundant, causing many places to remain in the ”primitive” stage.

The relatively favorable environment for obtaining food has led to the idleness of Africans, preventing their social civilization from developing.

As the Huaxia proverb goes: Born of worry, die in ease.

The evolution of oneself is the same principle.

When the body feels no pressure, it thinks there is no need for you to continue evolving.

Even if there is, it just evolves according to the environment to make you suitable for the current environment.

”After my fifth deep evolution, I no longer have any natural enemies on Earth. Even if a gamma-ray burst occurs, I can remain safe without any psychological pressure.”

Lu Li analyzed carefully, ”Also, because the energy in my body is truly vast and majestic, no matter how I condense the mecha, it will not consume me to the point of ’utter exhaustion.’ Physiologically, there is no pressure at all.”

With no pressure psychologically or physiologically, how can evolution be fast?

This is a particularly important reason.

However, Lu Li felt that there was more than one reason, ”In the past, before every deep evolution, my emotions were either in an extremely wonderful contentment or in extreme anger, which would lead to a faster release of growth hormones in my body. Now, because I learned that a gamma-ray burst is imminent, my heart is shrouded in a layer of cloud, causing my emotions to be in a constant low state. This, I suppose, also affects evolution.”

Why did he feel that emotions could affect the pace of evolution?

The answer is very simple: generally, people who are sunny and cheerful live much longer than those who are in a long-term low mood.

This has scientific evidence.

Old Ugly has a high-rated documentary.

Called ”The Power of Character.”

The protagonist consulted a research group.

This group studied a community of people and tracked them for forty years.

In the end, this research group came up with astonishing data and information.

That is, people who are optimistic and cheerful often live on average seven and a half years longer than those who are perpetually pessimistic.

Furthermore, a thirty-year study involving more than seventy thousand participants published in the Old Ugly Academy of Sciences journal ”PNAS” also showed that compared to their pessimistic peers, optimists tend to have a much longer lifespan, possibly living past eighty-five years or more.

As to why optimistic emotions lead to longer lifespans, ”The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine” already writes very clearly: ”Anger causes the Qi to rise, joy makes it slow, sadness makes it vanish, fear causes it to descend, shock disrupts it, and thought knots it.”

Optimism, being a typical positive emotion, can balance the autonomic nervous system, directing the body to secrete dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, and other hormones, maintaining normal transmission between brain neurons, thus improving the sense of well-being and life enjoyment. At the same time, it enhances the immune system by regulating the neuroendocrine system.

Additionally, under pressure, the adrenal glands increase the secretion of the hormone cortisol, which helps maintain blood pressure stability and control inflammation.

But excessive secretion can cause abnormalities in the secretion of thyroid hormone, insulin, and melatonin, leading to poor sleep, weakened immunity, and increased risks of cancer and respiratory diseases.

Optimistic emotions can regulate cortisol levels, preventing related health damages.

”I have undergone several deep evolutions, my body becoming incredibly strong. Even if I’m extremely angry and my body secretes a lot of thyroid hormone, insulin, and melatonin, it wouldn’t cause poor sleep, low immunity, and other problems. Instead, the massive hormone release would significantly enhance the evolution process, as proven in my third and fourth deep evolutions.”

With this in mind, Lu Li sorted out his thoughts, ”Of course, the correct way to increase the evolution speed is to keep myself in an optimistic state. The first and second deep evolutions, as well as the transition from the fourth to the fifth deep evolution, all verified just how important ’optimism’ is.”

That is to say, the current slowdown in my evolution is mainly due to two reasons.

First, my energy consumption doesn’t put pressure on my body.

Second, my emotions are under a cloud, neither optimistic nor pessimistic, but anxious, affecting the secretion of my hormones.

”I should not be wrong in my guess.”

Lu Li nodded slightly, ”Since I have identified the problem, it will be easy to solve.”

It’s simply a matter of increasing energy expenditure.

And keeping emotions in a more optimistic or intense state.

Increasing one’s own energy consumption is relatively simple.

It’s like spending money; everyone knows how to do it.

As for keeping emotions at an optimistic or intense level.

This is somewhat tricky for Lu Li.

He now has almost no desires or demands.

What could cause a significant emotional change?

For most people, this might take some pondering.

But Lu Li is not an ordinary person.

He quickly figured out how to cause significant emotional changes in himself.

Or rather, remain in ”happiness.”

With this thought, Lu Li’s gaze swept across the globe, revealing a faintly smiling expression, ”These people are developing anti-ancestral weapons, I might as well play with them a bit to adjust my ’gloomy’ emotions.”

Indeed, he intends to increase energy expenditure while playing with George, the Great Emperor, and others.

Then verify his hypothesis to see if this approach can significantly enhance the evolution speed.

Let’s hope so!
