Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 454: Chapter 392: The Terror Approaches

Every country in the world has time differences.

Some places, like Huaxia, are in the middle of the night, while others are currently in the daytime.

As a neighbor of Huaxia, the time difference with Russia isn’t that significant.

The time difference between Moscow, the capital, and Beijing, in Huaxia, is only five hours.

At this moment, it is precisely five o’clock in the afternoon in Moscow, roughly the time people get off work.

Because it is located in a high latitude area, the time it gets dark changes significantly with the seasons.

For instance, in summer, it gets dark in Moscow around eight in the evening, while in September, it’s around five thirty.

Although it’s not completely dark at the moment, the gray gloom forces households to turn on their lights.

The Great Emperor, as usual, had just finished a busy day and was preparing to return home for dinner.

He and a few of the world’s top bodyguards entered the private elevator and pressed the button for the parking level.

The bodyguards looked around vigilantly, preventing any potential attacks.

The Great Emperor stood in the middle, deep in thought, ”Early this morning, George and I reached an agreement to jointly develop weapons against the Ancestors. Not only do I have to provide the technology, but I also need to find an opportunity to meet with George to discuss strategies to contain them. Hmph, Ancestors, you may be powerful, but with collective wisdom, we will certainly find a way to overcome you!”

Thinking about the prospect of developing these weapons against the Ancestors to lift the dark cloud weighing on the minds of the high-ranking officials of every country, the Great Emperor felt a great sense of happiness.

Suddenly, with a loud ”clang,” the elevator shook violently.

The Great Emperor was instantly snapped out of his thoughts, looking around in confusion to find out what had happened.

As he lifted his head, he discovered that the lights in the elevator seemed broken, flickering a few times before completely going out.

In an instant, the entire elevator felt like it was plunged into an endless abyss.

The Great Emperor didn’t take it seriously at the time, casually telling the bodyguards beside him, ”Contact the outside, tell them to fix the elevator quickly to get us out.”

After saying this, he waited for a response from the bodyguards.

Unexpectedly, there was no response from the bodyguards at all.

The Great Emperor frowned, startled, thinking there might be an assassination attempt, and was about to call for help loudly.

Who could have imagined, something even more terrifying happened.

Ghostly wails and howls arose from all directions in the void, like demonic sounds piercing into the Emperor’s ears, constantly pouring in.

Even though the Great Emperor is a battle-hardened and fearless person, for some reason, upon hearing these wailing sounds like fingernails on glass, a surge of extreme fear arose in his heart, causing every hair on his body to stand on end.

It was as if these wailing sounds were not just cries of pain, but vengeful spirits coming to claim his life!

He was so terrified he shook all over, shouting desperately, hoping someone would come to his rescue.

But sadly, no matter how loudly the Great Emperor cried out for help, no one responded to his pleas.

Accompanied by his desperate cries, an oppressive, terrifying atmosphere engulfed him, causing his legs to tremble.

Finally, with a ding, the elevator door seemed to return to normal and opened with a sound.

The Great Emperor breathed a sigh of relief, ready to reprimand those coming to rescue him for their tardiness.

And indeed, the moment the elevator door opened, he had already begun to curse, ”Bastard...”

However, after only two words, his voice stopped abruptly, and his pupils instantly dilated!

At the open elevator doorway, there was an endless darkness, yet within this pitch-black darkness, the Great Emperor could clearly see a woman standing in front of him. She was wearing traditional Huaxia red wedding attire, with disheveled hair, a face ashen, blood dripping from her eyes, and she floated in the air, lacking feet!

This woman originally had her head bowed, but at the instant the elevator opened, she slowly lifted her head, revealing a ghastly face that sent chills down one’s spine. Moreover, she slowly raised her right hand, holding a dagger dripping with crimson blood, its blade gleaming.

Even the Great Emperor, who had once fought his way through seas of blood and mountains of corpses, found his heartbeat stopping at the sight of this woman before him.

The terror that pierced to the bone made him feel as though his whole body was filled with lead, unable to even open his mouth!

The next moment, the red-clad woman slowly drifted forward.

With each centimeter she drifted forward, the Great Emperor’s heart rate quickened by a beat.

In just a brief moment, the red-clad woman was right before the Great Emperor.

Seeing that pale face mere inches away, the Great Emperor’s heart pounded like a drum, yet he found himself utterly powerless to resist.

No, not only unable to resist, he couldn’t even utter a single scream!

The woman in red paid no heed to the Great Emperor, slowly raising the dagger she reversed, and stabbed fiercely!

No!

The Great Emperor inwardly screamed, so terrified he involuntarily shut his eyes, even wetting himself in fear!

One second.

Three seconds.

Five seconds.

The expected sharp pain of the blade did not come.

Despite his legs still trembling with fear, the Great Emperor felt a tinge of curiosity and sneakily opened his left eye a sliver, wanting to see what was happening outside.

To his surprise, he saw bright lights, and the elevator had already reached the floor. The four bodyguards stood at the corners, looking at him with very peculiar expressions.

Hmm?

Where was the woman in red?

The Great Emperor was truly bewildered to the extreme, looking around incredulously.

Apart from a puddle of murky yellow liquid on the ground, nothing else seemed out of place.

Seeing this yellow puddle, he finally understood why the four bodyguards were looking at him so oddly.
