Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 483: Chapter 415: Deciding to Do Something Earth-Shattering

A distant relative was murdered?

Lu Li was a bit surprised, but didn’t feel any sadness, not even a ripple of emotion.

For a relative like this, whom he had never contacted or known, he had no feelings at all, so how could he have any emotional reaction?

Lu Li knew that Gu Wei wouldn’t call without a reason to mention this matter.

He asked, ”How did he die? Was the killer caught?”

Gu Wei’s voice became increasingly cautious, ”The killer was caught on the spot, but as for what happened...”

Lu Li frowned, ”Old Gu, if you’ve got something to say, just say it, don’t beat around the bush with me.”

”Okay.” Gu Wei took a deep breath and said, ”Because you revealed your identity, and now the whole world knows you’re the Ancestor’s descendant, so after Zhu Shou Nian found out, he kept bragging about having such an impressive relative like you.”

This kind of thing is quite common.

For example, someone might have a relative with a big career, and even though they have no connection, when showing off, they would likely boast about it.

Like saying, I know so-and-so.

Or so-and-so is my relative or something.

In his ”all-seeing perspective,” Lu Li had found many people talking big.

Among them, there were some who claimed to know him, or had seen him, or pretended to be distant relatives.

He just couldn’t be bothered to deal with these, so he always ignored them.

Gu Wei continued, ”Originally, he gained a lot of awe and flattery from claiming this, but what brings success also brings failure. Recently, because you didn’t respond about saving the world or not, some extremists became resentful, right? And then, just by chance, an extremist heard Zhu Shou Nian say he was your relative, got furious, and stabbed him to death with a knife.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Li, who initially had no emotional fluctuation, felt a surge of anger rising deep inside.

This anger wasn’t because Zhu Shou Nian was stabbed to death by someone.

But because the killer wasn’t targeting Zhu Shou Nian at all; they were targeting him.

It’s just that the killer couldn’t do anything to him; they just happened to hear Zhu Shou Nian bragging, so they killed him instead.

This was undoubtedly a provocation against him.

No, it was worse than provocation.

To be precise, the other hated him to the point of wanting him dead, but not having the capability, so they transferred that hatred to someone related to him.

Lu Li had enough reason to believe that if, at that moment, it wasn’t Zhu Shou Nian next to the murderer but his parents or Liu Kexin, the person would have acted just the same.

His eyes narrowed.

Damn it.

The tiger has no intention to harm others.

People, however, have harmful intentions towards the tiger!

Lu Li found it extremely ridiculous.

He hadn’t been doing anything lately, yet he kept being targeted?

First, there was online harassment directed at him.

Then someone sneaked around Huazhou Junting, trying to assassinate his parents.

And now, more directly, just because Zhu Shou Nian bragged about their kinship, he lost his life.

As the saying goes, ”Even a mud figure has three points of fire.”

Lu Li, as a living person, having evolved into a ”higher being” akin to a deity, how could his inner world remain unmoved when repeatedly provoked by ”ants?”

His gaze turned icy, ”Okay, I know now.”

Gu Wei quickly advised, ”Mr. Lu, please don’t get angry, I will handle this matter well, and ensure you get a satisfactory answer.”

Lu Li said softly, ”I know, I’m still having dinner, so I won’t talk to you now, goodbye.”

Thinking Lu Li truly didn’t mind, Gu Wei sighed in relief, ”Okay, I won’t interrupt your meal.”

He hung up the phone.

Lu Li looked towards the sunset with a cold chuckle.

Previously, Gu Wei, George, and the Great Emperor also said they would handle things.

At the time, they did suppress the online harassment, but what happened afterward was visible to all who had eyes.

Lu Li believed Gu Wei would give him an answer.

For instance, the perpetrator would be punished heavily according to the law for the murder.

But who can guarantee similar things won’t happen in the future?

”All along, I’ve been too merciful.”

Lu Li’s heart was burning with a roaring flame of anger.

He knew he had to do something.

Otherwise, after this gamma-ray burst event was over, incidents of ”moral blackmail” might still occur.

”Moral blackmail?”

Lu Li chuckled lightly, ”If I have no morality, how do you plan to blackmail me?”

With this thought, he didn’t immediately return to the dining room to continue eating but instead searched for the assailant’s whereabouts in his ”all-seeing perspective.”

Before long, Lu Li found the assailant in a neighboring city.

He was a young man in his twenties, with somewhat alternative attire.

Even being detained for murder, he still seemed unruly, seemingly feeling no remorse for his crime.

Lu Li immediately probed the other’s inner world, wanting to know if he killed Zhu Shou Nian for the reason Gu Wei mentioned.

A moment later, he sensed the other’s inner dynamics, which indeed matched what Gu Wei had said.

This youngster was resentful because he wouldn’t save the world, believing that, sooner or later, death was inevitable, so I should get back at he wouldn’t save the world.

Lu Li’s eyes turned cold, ”Killing this kid directly is too easy for him, I want him to live in fear every day until the trial. Also... it’s time to do something so those ignorant lower beings don’t dare to have any nefarious thoughts against me or my family and friends!”

At that moment, he had completely shed his ”humanity” and transformed into ”divinity!”
