Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 44: Chapter 42: Controlling the Flying Sword?

Developed super telekinesis?

Lu Li was genuinely bewildered.

He clearly developed the skill to see images through smell.

How did it end up developing super smell first, and now super telekinesis?

He didn’t rush to try further.

Lu Li pondered for a while, ”Could this be a combo skill?”

He speculated secretly, ”Maybe super telekinesis should be called super spiritual power, the super smell allows me to smell what various things’ scents really look like, and the super spiritual power can transform those scents into specific shapes of objects?”

He thought that was highly possible.

Lu Li decided to give it a try.

Without hesitation, he activated the super smell.

He wanted to pair it with super spiritual power to see if he could see things by smelling.

A while later.

Lu Li looked disappointed, ”It’s not working at all.”

Could it be that he guessed wrong?

He believed he shouldn’t have guessed wrong.

Otherwise, why would he clearly develop seeing images through smell, only to end up with two skills: super smell and super spiritual power?

Suddenly, Lu Li recalled a scene in his dream again.

The energy rays from his head and nose seemed to want to move towards each other, but the distance was a bit far, not allowing them to converge yet.

”My guess must be right!”

Lu Li could be very sure, ”The reason why I can’t use super spiritual power to present real images when I smell scents should be because the ’energy field’ pathways of both skills haven’t been connected.”

In other words, if he could connect the energy rays between the head and the nose, he should be able to see images through scent.

Yeah, this matter cannot be rushed, it needs him to continually absorb energy, and let Little Golden Man drive, paving the way between the two energy fields.

”But...”

Lu Li’s eyes sparkled, ”I can see how much weight my super spiritual power can manipulate.”

Although he was lazy to think, his execution was very strong.

Once thought, he began to try!

Lu Li knew that a cellphone couldn’t be manipulated temporarily.

So during testing, the objects chosen needed to be much lighter than a phone.

Casually, he picked up a box of regular ibuprofen.

Lu Li tried a bit.

Found it a bit difficult to manipulate.

Although it could barely move, the movement amplitude was very small.

He thought it over, ran to the kitchen, and took a chopstick to test again.

This time, although it was still laborious, he could control the chopstick with his spiritual power, suspending it in mid-air.

In the living room, Lu Li gazed thoughtfully at the chopstick hovering about a few dozen centimeters above the dining table, ”Currently, I can control weights with ease, roughly just a chopstick.”

Looking at it this way, this super spiritual power doesn’t seem very useful.

However, after experiencing super smell solving a case, Lu Li knew there were no useless skills, only whether they could be applied in appropriate areas to exert their power.

Lu Li suddenly recalled a Xianxia novel he read, ”Daoist Myths: I Am the Last True Immortal in the World.”

Didn’t the protagonist there acquire a flying needle and use divine sense to slay demons and monsters?

”Yeah, I can control needles!”

His eyes lit up, ”I can carry a few needles with me, in future dangerous situations, I can totally defeat enemies with needles, and when my spiritual power is strong enough, maybe I can control a flying sword like in mythological stories!”

Without hesitation, Lu Li returned to the bedroom.

Dug out a regular sewing kit.

Hmm, his clothes used to be cheaper and not too sturdy, sometimes needing sewing repairs, hence the sewing kit.

He took out three or four needles.

Placed them on the bedside table and manipulated them with spiritual power.

Three or four needles were instantly lifted, suspended in mid-air.

There wasn’t much difficulty in this.

But when Lu Li attempted to control them to fly freely, he encountered a bit of trouble.

He could control one needle to weave freely, but couldn’t control all the needles.

This multitasking move was hard to achieve.

”It’s normal for it not to be smooth on the first try.”

Lu Li believed that with diligent practice, he could definitely control more needles in the future.

At the current stage, testing with one needle for effect is sufficient.

He put down the other three needles.

Focused entirely on controlling one needle.

To the left, the needle swooshed to the left.

To the right, the needle swooshed to the right again.

Lu Li felt a sense of arm-like control.

As if under his spiritual manipulation, what was floating in mid-air wasn’t a needle but his own arm.

”Let’s see how powerful it is.”

He found a few sheets of paper, stacked them together, and brought them to hand.

Controlled the needle to stab into the paper.

A tearing sound was heard.

The needle instantly penetrated three or four sheets of stacked paper.

Lu Li took a closer look and saw a small pinhole appear on the paper.

”This isn’t even the maximum power I can exert with needle manipulation.”

He wanted to find something else to test with.

It’s just a pity that he just moved in, and there weren’t many test items in the house.

Suddenly, Lu Li thought of something.

”I remember watching a video once, where someone specifically tested a flying needle penetrating glass with a thickness of 0.3 centimeters.”

Lu Li recalled carefully, ”It was said that if the flying needle reached a speed of over 289 kilometers per hour, it could pierce the glass without damaging it, only leaving a pinhole.”

If a flying needle can really penetrate glass, then it could kill.

This means that if I can achieve this, I basically possess a super lethal skill.

Lu Li looked around the room.

Finally, his gaze locked on the glass of the bathroom door across the room.

This piece of glass is roughly 0.3 centimeters thick.

Perfect for experimenting whether the flying needle can penetrate it.

With this thought, he concentrated all his efforts to control the flying needle and thrust it suddenly.

Crack.

A light sound rang out.

Lu Li watched the flying needle pierce through the bathroom door glass with wide eyes.

Unfortunately, it was different from the video.

Instead of just leaving a pinhole,

the glass cracked.

Of course, the pinhole was still made.

”It must be due to insufficient kinetic energy.”

He roughly understood why, ”That means my control of the flying needle can reach around 289 kilometers per hour, perhaps a bit less, since the glass cracked. But regardless, such power from a flying needle, when used against an enemy, can certainly kill invisibly.”

I finally have a means of self-defense!

Lu Li was incredibly excited inside.

Although ever since his gene lock was released, his explosiveness became fierce, he was, after all, still flesh and blood. Even if confronting someone, he had to get close to unleash his power.

Now, things are different.

He possesses super spiritual power now.

He can fully control the flying needle to injure enemies from a distance.

Now there’s only one question.

What’s the maximum control distance for the flying needle?

This is quite easy to determine the result.

Lu Li controlled the flying needle to continually move away from him toward the living room.

Three meters.

The flying needle was as steady as an old dog.

Five meters.

The flying needle began to slightly wobble.

Eight meters.

It became a bit strenuous to control.

In the end, Lu Li experimented and concluded:

The current control limit for his flying needle is ten meters.

Keep in mind, in real combat, the range of some handguns is merely around fifteen meters.

This is referring to combat range, not the handguns’ effective range.

Normally, a handgun’s effective range is from several dozen to over a hundred meters.

”From the current standpoint, the power I wield from controlling the flying needle is almost on par with the combat range of a handgun, perfectly sufficient for self-defense.”

Lu Li was very satisfied with this.

Just as he was about to play with the flying needle a little longer,

a strong sense of hunger in his stomach forced him to stop.

A bit hungry.

Time to go out and grab something to eat.

He was just about to pick up the car keys,

when his phone rang again.

Lu Li thought it was another colleague calling after seeing the news.

He didn’t think much of it at the time.

Casually, he picked up his Huawei phone from the bed.

And saw that it was President Liu calling.

He hesitated for a moment, unsure if he should answer the call.

After all, if he answered, the other party might want him to get busy with work.

In the end, Lu Li decided to take the call.

Because he remembered the words Brother Cheng had spoken to him earlier.

Since President Liu called at this time, it was a good opportunity to connect and inquire about the specifics.

”Hello, President Liu, good evening.”

Lu Li held the phone to his ear while reaching for the car keys.

President Liu said, ”Xiaolu, I have something to discuss with you.”

Lu Li slipped the car keys into his pocket, ”Okay, what is it, you can tell me.”

President Liu said, ”This matter, discussing it over the phone, I guess you are seventy to eighty percent likely to refuse. How about this, we meet up now, and I’ll try persuading you in person.”

Alright.

Seems like it’s nothing good.

But Lu Li did need to communicate with the other side about some company matters.

He thought for a moment and said, ”Sure, I’m hungry, how about we find a restaurant to sit down and chat?”

President Liu was silent for a moment and said, ”Okay, you can choose the restaurant, but it’s raining outside, and I’m too lazy to drive. My driver is on a date with her boyfriend tonight, so I don’t want to disturb her. Could you come over and pick me up?”

Lu Li readily agreed, ”Alright, I’ll be there in half an hour.”

After speaking, he ended the call.

While walking outside, Lu Li was still thinking about Brother Cheng’s words.

He was really eager to know whether the higher-up threatening Manager Wang was targeting Manager Wang, or aiming at his department.
