Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 43: Chapter 41: Advanced Telekinesis

Poly Yuxi, new home.

In the bedroom, Lu Li lay on the incredibly comfortable bed.

Looking at the bright sunshine outside the window, he couldn’t help but feel great.

He mused, ”The super sense of smell is really useful, it made me twenty thousand overnight.”

The super sense of smell wasn’t the superpower he wanted to actively evolve, at most it was a by-product.

Lu Li originally wanted to evolve a superpower that could ”see” images using smell.

But for some reason, this evolution turned out to be a bit strange, and the ability to see images with smell didn’t evolve, but instead, the super sense of smell did.

To be honest, Lu Li initially rejected the super sense of smell.

This skill has too many negative effects.

During activation, all kinds of smells fill the nose.

Sometimes, if someone farts, it can almost knock him out.

Because of this, before experiencing the crime-solving event, he had given up on further developing the superpower of seeing images with smell.

However, earning twenty thousand made Lu Li start to value this skill.

The super sense of smell could easily solve a case and earn such a hefty reward.

Imagine all the bounties published worldwide.

If smell could really see images, wouldn’t he make a fortune from it?

”Continue to develop this skill.”

Lu Li quietly made up his mind.

Perhaps this bed was too comfortable to lie on.

Thinking about it, he fell asleep.

...

In the dream.

Lu Li once again saw the Little Golden Man manipulating lines of energy.

This time, most of the energy lines the Little Golden Man manipulated converged on the head, while only a small portion remained at the nose.

Furthermore, this time it was different from before when developing this skill.

The energy lines seemed not content to remain confined to the head and nose; they were trying to spread towards each other.

Not knowing the distance between the head and nose seemed relatively far.

Or maybe the energy was insufficient.

In any case, the energy lines between the two parts never managed to break through the barrier.

Not to mention breakthrough, Lu Li could clearly see that the two lines of energy only extended less than a millimeter out.

He was somewhat puzzled by what was going on.

But Lu Li never bothered to ponder things he couldn’t understand.

As such, he didn’t think much about it either.

Or maybe the dream was too short for him to think much.

After the energy lines were exhausted, Lu Li fell into a deep sleep.

...

It was unclear how long he slept.

Urged by a series of ringing phone bells, Lu Li woke up groggily.

Maybe the energy lines’ consumption was a bit too much today.

Or perhaps he was woken from deep sleep by the phone.

He didn’t feel like moving at all.

Lu Li looked at the two phones on the nightstand not far from him.

Clearly, he only needed to get up and stretch his hand to pick up the phone, but he just didn’t want to get up.

He thought to himself, if only I could use telekinesis, then I wouldn’t have to get up to get the phone.

As this thought arose, a bizarre scene emerged spontaneously.

Hiss.

Lu Li saw with his own eyes that the Huawei phone with a lit screen inexplicably moved slightly.

The movement was very small.

The sound it made was also very soft.

So small that even with his far superior vision and super hearing, he doubted whether he had just experienced an illusion.

”Hmm?”

Lu Li was stunned for a moment. ”Was that an illusion just now?”

He was a bit uncertain, but his spirit was lifted.

At this moment, the phone was still ringing.

Lu Li looked out the window at the sky and saw that it was not only pitch black but also seemed to be raining heavily.

That is to say, it was already very late.

He was a bit puzzled, who would be calling him so late?

Lu Li got up, reached out, and grabbed the phone.

He carefully looked at the incoming number and found it was Brother Cheng calling.

Why was Brother Cheng calling me this late?

Could it be something urgent happened at the company?

But then again, today is Sunday.

Except for the factory workers working overtime, everyone else at the company should be off.

Unable to figure it out, Lu Li casually pressed the answer button, ”Hello, Brother Cheng, this is...”

Before he finished speaking, a disbelieving cry came from the other end of the phone, ”Oh wow, Deputy Manager Lu, you’re incredible, you’ve even been reported on the provincial TV station!”

Half-awake, Lu Li hadn’t processed what was going on, ”What provincial TV station report?”

”Hey, what else could it be, it’s our Jiang Province Channel One TV station.” Brother Cheng sounded full of surprise, ”Didn’t see it coming, you actually helped the police crack a dismemberment and corpse disposal murder case? Amazing! You’re truly amazing!”

Oh.

So it was that.

Lu Li immediately recalled.

This morning, when chatting with Wang Yu, he already knew he would become famous, but he hadn’t expected Brother Cheng to see the news and call so quickly.

Lu Li smiled, ”Just got lucky, a blind cat came upon a dead mouse.”

He didn’t want to chatter on about this matter.

After all, the more you say, the more likely you are to make mistakes.

After a modest comment, Lu Li changed the subject, ”Hey, Brother Cheng, you wouldn’t just call because I was reported on TV, right?”

”Of course not, I wouldn’t disturb your rest over something like that.” Brother Cheng’s tone turned serious, ”I have something important to tell you.”

Upon hearing such a serious tone, Lu Li quickly said, ”Go ahead.”

Brother Cheng said, ”Manager Wang took leave a few days ago, remember?”

Lu Li nodded, ”What’s up?”

Brother Cheng lowered his voice, ”I heard today that he might not have taken leave just because his mother was hospitalized, but also because he received some threats, from the company higher-ups.”

The company higher-ups are threatening Manager Wang?

Lu Li found it inexplicable, ”Who did Manager Wang offend?”

”I don’t know.” Brother Cheng’s tone was a bit worried, ”But I’m afraid that unknown higher-up might not just be targeting Manager Wang, but our entire department, so I called to let you know.”

Lu Li had a general idea, saying, ”Okay, I got it, let’s talk tomorrow when we meet.”

”Alright, then I won’t disturb your rest any longer, good night.”

With that, Brother Cheng hung up the phone.

Lu Li was about to put down the phone.

Suddenly, he noticed several WeChat messages.

He opened and read each one.

Xiaoqing: ”Wow, you actually helped the police solve a murder case?”

Old Zhu: ”Deputy Manager Lu, impressive, you’ve even made it to the provincial Channel One’s news?”

Xiaomei: ”Was it really you they were talking about in the news? Is it true?”

Well, no need to say more, I know.

Just as Wang Yu said before.

This time, I’ve really become famous.

Lu Li replied to each message one by one.

After finishing the replies, he sat on the bed holding the phone, pondering for a while.

He still mulled over the things Brother Cheng mentioned in the phone call.

He still couldn’t figure out which higher-up at the company was targeting his department.

He guessed it was most likely that Manager Wang had inadvertently offended someone, which led to the threats.

Oh well.

Whatever.

First, consider his own matters.

Lu Li recalled that earlier, when he didn’t want to move, he thought about being able to use telekinesis, and then the phone moved a bit.

”Was that really an illusion before?”

He decided to give it a try.

With that in mind, Lu Li once again focused on the Virtu phone on the nightstand, sending a telekinetic thought towards it.

While sending the thought, he kept his eyes fixed on the Virtu phone, wanting to see whether it moved.

To his delight, as soon as the thought arose, the Virtu phone did move slightly!

The movement was very tiny.

It might not have moved even a millimeter.

If one wasn’t paying close attention, they might not even notice it.

However, having experienced what happened earlier and keeping his eyes glued on it, Lu Li wouldn’t miss this scene.

Seeing this, Lu Li was shocked, ”What? Did I actually move the phone telekinetically?”

He suddenly recalled when he was asleep earlier, the Little Golden Man kept gathering energy lines to his brain and nose.

Most of the energy lines were gathered to the brain area.

Lu Li couldn’t help but have a bold guess, ”Could it be... I’ve developed super telekinesis?”
