Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 33: Chapter 32: Company Car Allocation

The next day, it was time for work.

Generally speaking, company morning meetings are independently held by the department supervisors or managers.

Today was a bit different, as everyone in the company was arranged to attend the morning meeting at the factory area behind the office building.

Not only the administrative staff in the office building, but also the workers in the factory who work shifts were summoned to the meeting on the playground.

This is the main factory area with about three thousand workers.

Additionally, the company has several subsidiary factories, with staff numbers ranging from hundreds to a thousand.

Of course, the subsidiary factories are quite far, so it’s impossible for their workers to come, but all the leaders above the supervisory level from those subsidiary factories attended.

The crowd was dense with heads moving.

Due to his commendation, Lu Li was arranged to sit in the front row.

At this moment, President Liu was on the podium asserting her authority.

The general content was about the incidents that happened in the procurement department yesterday and the way they were handled.

President Liu would never miss such a great opportunity to assert her power.

The workers were indifferent, only the management looked fearful, as if they were afraid of following in the footsteps of Deputy Manager Zhang and Xiaoyu.

At the end, after President Liu finished asserting her authority, she said loudly, ”The company was able to promptly identify Zhang Aihong and Qin Deliang as two parasites, and discover some actions taken by the procurement department that harmed the company’s interest. Manager Wang from the e-commerce sales department and Deputy Manager Lu played a pivotal role, so after a discussion with the top management, we’ve decided to give them a certain substantial reward as commendation.”

Lu Li quickly straightened up his posture.

Manager Wang beside him did the same.

President Liu spoke into the microphone: ”First, on behalf of the company, I grant both of them the title of outstanding management, with a salary increase of 10%. Secondly, based on the size of their contributions, Manager Wang and Deputy Manager Lu will respectively receive cash rewards of 20,000 and 50,000 yuan. Additionally, because Deputy Manager Lu indirectly saved the company from huge losses this time, I have decided to allocate a car for him!”

To the outside world, it was publicized that President Liu discovered this issue herself, but now rewarding Manager Wang and Lu Li not only dispels any suspicion that the duo reported privately, but many also believe President Liu is skilled, deliberately giving credit to Lu Li and Manager Wang to win people’s submission to her.

Huh?

Really giving me a car?

Lu Li thought when President Liu hung up the call yesterday, the car allocation was off the table, but unexpectedly, she truly acknowledged his credit, announcing publicly in the morning meeting to give him a car!

He was overjoyed at that moment.

Then, President Liu said more encouraging words to everyone, such as saying if they just work hard like Lu Li and Manager Wang, rewards like cash bonuses and car allocations are not dreams, and they might even receive greater rewards.

Most employees listened, becoming passionate and expressing their intent to work hard.

Only Lu Li was a bit absent-minded, pondering what kind of car the company would allocate to him.

...

Very soon, the morning meeting ended.

Both Lu Li and Manager Wang carried the ”Outstanding Management” certificates and cash checks, returning to the building surrounded by their department colleagues.

Manager Wang looked at Lu Li with some envy, jokingly saying, ”You kid, I have no idea what trance you put President Liu in, I’ve been a manager all these years and never got a car, yet you just got promoted to deputy manager and are getting a car?”

Company cars are only allocated to people above manager level, Manager Wang is one rank below, so he doesn’t have a car.

”Not only that.” Brother Cheng also looked on enviously, ”I’ve been in the company for a few years too, and haven’t even touched a team leader position. How long has Lu Li been here? First promoted to team leader and now deputy manager, makes me so envious!”

Lu Li said with a smile, ”Just lucky, just lucky.”

Xiaomei blinked and said, ”Deputy Manager Lu, you’ve been promoted, got a car from the company, and received a cash reward of 50,000 yuan, you should really treat us to a celebratory meal.”

”Yes!” Xiaozhao followed up, ”Deputy Manager Lu, you can’t get away from this meal.”

Though Xiaomei and Xiaozhao were jokingly insisting Lu Li treat them, it was obvious to anyone that their attitude towards Lu Li had changed.

This was evident from the change in their address; previously they called him Xiaolu, now it’s Deputy Manager Lu.

Clearly, Xiaomei and Xiaozhao have recognized their positions as subordinates.

The others were almost the same, looking at Lu Li with a hint of respect in their eyes.

Lu Li didn’t think much of it, just smiling as he said, ”Sure, I’ll inform Manager Zhu today that I won’t attend training tonight, and we’ll find a restaurant for a nice meal.”

He then looked over to the side, ”Brother Cheng, you’re quite the food expert, so you find the restaurant?”

Brother Cheng seemed to realize from Xiaomei and Xiaozhao’s change of address too, changing his address, ”Sure, my dear deputy manager.”

His humorous address immediately made everyone burst out laughing.

Even though Brother Cheng’s tone had a hint of playfulness, everyone knew he was using this reply to pledge his loyalty to Lu Li.

...

Around nine in the morning, Lu Li went to the administration department to find Manager Zhao, who was responsible for the car allocation.

In the office, Manager Zhao checked the computer, ”Deputy Manager Lu, currently our company has three cars available, take a look at which one you like, I’ll register it for you.”

With that, he turned the computer screen towards Lu Li to choose.

Lu Li looked at the screen, noticing all three cars were good: a Toyota Camry, a Honda Accord, and an Audi A3, each priced around 200,000 yuan.

He wasn’t sure and asked, ”Manager Zhao, which car is more comfortable to drive?”

Manager Zhao said, ”The Audi A3 is a compact model, I personally feel it’s not that great to drive. The Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are both B-segment cars, with relatively larger interiors. If you’re not particular about the brand and just want comfort, I’d recommend the Camry. However, if you’re looking to save on fuel, the Accord might be better than the Camry.”

After careful consideration, Lu Li felt from Manager Zhao’s words that the Camry might have slightly better performance than the Accord, except it consumed more fuel.

Hey, he’d just be using it for commuting and occasional outings, how much fuel could it possibly use?

Without hesitation, Lu Li said, ”Alright, I’ll follow your advice and choose the Camry.”

”Okay, I’ll register it for you.”

Manager Zhao first typed on the computer for a while, then took out a document for Lu Li to sign.

After completing the tasks, Manager Zhao reminded, ”According to company policy, in the first year, all car-related expenses and insurance fees are covered by the company. In subsequent years, you’ll need to cover the expenses yourself, but the company will handle the insurance, road maintenance fee, and vehicle and vessel tax. If you ever leave the company, the car must be returned. Are there any issues with this?”

Lu Li nodded, ”It’s fine, no issues.”

Manager Zhao took the car keys out of the drawer, ”Alright, I’ll first take you to see the car, then we can handle other matters later.”

Lu Li said, ”Thank you, then.”

The two of them left the office.

They made their way to the underground parking lot.

Very quickly, they arrived beside the car.

Manager Zhao pointed to a white Toyota Camry, ”This will be your future car. You can get in and try it out to see if there are any issues.”

”Alright.”

Lu Li took out the key.

He opened the door and entered.

He fastened his seatbelt and held the steering wheel, quietly excited.

Finally, he had a car.

Although it was a company car, it was still the first car he had usage rights in his life!

Of course, Lu Li felt a bit regretful.

After all, he only had usage rights for this car, it didn’t truly belong to him.

”With all the superpowers I’ve unlocked, I believe it won’t be long before I can afford to buy my own car.”

Lu Li silently vowed, ”When the time comes, I’ll definitely buy a great car, one far better than a Camry, at least a million-dollar luxury car!”
