Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 25: Chapter 24: True to Her Name_2

Lu Li: ”...”

Since he unlocked his genetic lock, he has always been afraid of being discovered, so he has no desire to become famous at all.

As for participating in Nathan’s hot dog challenge and gaining some fame.

To be honest, Lu Li never expected it.

He originally just wanted to get a free dinner.

Who knew that his hunger would explode at that time, and he defeated those who could eat large amounts.

It’s not just about not wanting to be famous.

Lu Li hoped to be as low-key as possible.

It would be best if no one noticed him.

At the very least, until he had enough self-protection ability, he didn’t want anyone to discover how different he was.

Of course, if he could one day evolve to ignore thermal weapons or even withstand nuclear bombs, then he could act recklessly, but definitely not now.

This time Lu Li gave no ambiguity and straightforwardly refused, ”President Liu, please forgive my bluntness, but I’m not interested in being a streamer or becoming famous. If I really wanted fame, don’t you think with my appetite, I’d be better off being a mukbang streamer?”

President Liu saw his outright refusal and did not, like some leaders, use ”power” to pressure him.

She nodded slightly and said, ”Well, since you’re not interested in this, I won’t force it. I have another plan here. Listen carefully and see if you can write it out, and try to make it exciting.”

Lu Li finally sighed in relief, ”Okay, President Liu, please go ahead.”

President Liu tilted her head slightly and said, ”I personally always believe that conflict most easily attracts attention, like people enjoying a spectacle. If during our live broadcasts, we can create some excitement, it may attract a lot of viewers, and then we can sell the products...”

She spoke for a full three minutes.

Lu Li listened carefully all along.

He roughly understood what kind of plan President Liu wanted to design.

An act-based promotional sales.

This method is almost ubiquitous in the live-streaming sales industry.

It’s just having the streamer use scripted arguments, scandals, and other plots to create tension and attract audiences to buy products.

After listening, Lu Li looked seriously at her bright eyes, ”President Liu, I don’t agree with this act-based promotional sales.”

President Liu asked, ”Why?”

Lu Li explained carefully, ”Perhaps you haven’t been back in the country for long and are not familiar with the domestic live-streaming sales. A few years ago, this tactic easily caught consumers’ attention, but there are so many similar tricks that nearly all major streamers have used them. Even if consumers were foolish before, after being bombarded with these similar tactics, they’ve become smarter. If we really do this, it could cause negative reactions. Rather than using tricks to lure them, I think we should properly promote our company’s product advantages.”

He paused for a moment here, ”Our company’s products are already outstanding in the domestic industry, and the potential consumers are a fixed group. If we act like clowns, we might as well directly showcase the products and let those potential consumers see the product’s advantages and willingly pay for them. Although this might be more challenging initially, if it works, it will be a sustainable ’king’s path’ for live-streaming sales rather than just seeking short-term sales and upsetting consumers.”

President Liu was silent for a while, seemingly pondering Lu Li’s words.

Suddenly, she looked up and nodded, ”My grandfather made me return to host this company with a purpose, related to the inheritance, which is why I sometimes act aggressively. Indeed, as you said, positive promotion is far more a ’king’s path’ than act-based live-streaming sales. Alright, let’s do as you suggested.”

Lu Li never expected her to take his opinion into account.

If it were a leader from another company.

Seeing a subordinate not supporting them.

With a hint of disagreement.

They would have likely held a grudge.

But not someone like President Liu.

This shows that she indeed wants to manage the company well.

However, Lu Li didn’t plan to stay in the company for long.

Whether she wants to manage it well or not is not really related to him.

Seeing that they had almost finished discussing everything.

Lu Li tentatively asked, ”President Liu, is there anything else?”

President Liu shook her head and said, ”Nothing else, you can go back.”

Although Lu Li was quite tempted by her, he really didn’t want to stay with a leader for too long; it was uncomfortable.

He stood up and said, ”Alright, then I’ll head home first.”

”Wait!”

President Liu suddenly thought of something and called out to Lu Li.

”Is there anything else?”

Lu Li turned to look at her.

President Liu stood up, ”Wait here for a moment.”

Lu Li was left bewildered by her actions but still agreed, ”Okay.”

President Liu didn’t say anything else and went towards the staircase to go upstairs.

He waited for about five minutes.

Tap, tap, tap.

The sound of high heels on wooden stairs.

Lu Li turned his head to look, ”President Liu.”

President Liu walked slowly down, casually tossing something toward him, ”Catch.”

Lu Li reached out and caught it, not having time to look closely, and asked puzzledly, ”President Liu, what is this?”

President Liu said calmly, ”Didn’t you say your phone was broken before? I happen to have an old phone there that I don’t use much, and I’ve barely used it. I’ll give it to you. After all, without a phone, it’s not very convenient for me to reach you.”

While she was speaking, Lu Li had already looked down.

He saw a nearly new Vertu phone quietly lying in his palm.

Lu Li was stunned at that moment.

Although he didn’t know what model the Vertu phone in his palm was, even the cheapest Vertu phone costs ten to twenty thousand, and the more expensive ones can be hundreds of thousands.

He never imagined that upon hearing his phone was broken, President Liu would gift such a high-end phone.

Even if it was used by her, its value was still very high.

Lu Li spoke with some shock, ”President Liu, you are...”

President Liu spoke with a hint of deeper meaning, ”As long as you work well and help me run the company well, a phone is nothing. I can give you more. Do you... understand what I mean? By the way, I still haven’t fully controlled the company’s entire power.”

She didn’t make it too explicit.

Lu Li worked at the company every day, so how could he not understand?

The Liu Group had sent President Liu and several high-level executives to manage it.

But there were still many ”old guard” members occupying key positions in the company.

These people hadn’t decided to side with her yet and were considered ”hardliners.”

Furthermore, not all executives sent by the Liu Group were President Liu’s people.

Some had sibling rivalries for inheritance with her.

So President Liu’s move was to recruit him!

Honestly, being used by others as a tool was something Lu Li would generally dislike.

But he wasn’t planning to stay long in the company.

And on the surface, President Liu treated him very well.

He didn’t mind being that tool.

With this in mind, Lu Li nodded, ”I understand what you mean.”

The always serious President Liu suddenly smiled brightly, ”Rest assured, following Liu Kexin in work will never treat you poorly. Alright, you can go back.”

Oh!

Your name is Liu Kexin!

I must say, it’s quite poetic.

Lu Li finally knew her real name.

He remembered the term ”Kexin” from the ’Complete Tang Poems. Hymns of Suburban Offerings: Hymn of the Marten Offering for Literary Master Kong. Harmony’.

The original line was: ’Virtue is fragrant, reed offerings are suitable.’

This line praised Confucius’s noble virtue.

Even the reeds knew of his virtue.

”Kexin” can be understood as the fragrant air emitted by virtue.

Parents giving a girl the name ”Kexin” hope she develops good virtues, treats others with kindness and humility, and faces challenges bravely.

Lu Li felt this name closely matched President Liu’s ”character.”

Although sometimes a bit dominant, she was indeed kind and humble to others.

Moreover, President Liu clearly knew that taking over this company would come with many difficulties, yet she still took it on fearlessly; isn’t it just as her name suggests?

Liu Kexin?

This name is really nice!

Thinking this, Lu Li bid farewell and left.

As he walked out of the small villa’s gate, he was still marveling at the name’s beauty.

Marvelous indeed!

Such graceful poise!

Eh, no, no.

It should be that the name is just beautifully chosen.

Lu Li swore he really wasn’t thinking anything indecent right now.

Just... why did he forget to turn on his X-ray vision earlier?
